As a 12 year old who didn't know how make balanced teams, this battle was a nightmare. I just remember attempting to beat Colress like 20 times, so this theme stokes primal rage in my soul. HOWEVER, I will never say no to a Zame remaster ;)
Had a similar experience with Steven in the OG sapphire I thought my sceptile and barely leveled Sharpedo would make quick work of him. Lol I was wrong
Even with a somawhat 'balanced' team and knowledge of what I'm doing, he can be tough to beat. A did a 'bug run'' with Volcarona, Scolipede, Crustle, Galvantula (and Ferrothorn). I usually beat every trainer I find, my Volcarona usually being a bit higher leveled than the rest. Yet I nearly failed to beat him and Volcarona was ko'd during it. (the league was also tough tho, even with a fairly well trained bug/grass team)

this is actually better sounding then the original, imho. it retains the retro video-gamey midi instrument feel but just has straight up better quality and punchiness. love it
Colress's theme was what spurred me into loving Pokemon music. I never really paid much attention before his theme started playing in my 12 year old ears. After his theme hit me like a hurricane, I started listening to GlitchxCity's remixes. And that lead me to a world of many talented remixers. Now I'm an adult and listening to Glitch, Retrospecter, Blitzit, Mixeli, GaMetal, and, of course, Zame. Colress's theme is always a treat to listen to and is now my favorite battle theme, period.
Zame, I just want to say that your talent is unparalleled. Seriously. I’ve seen so many great pokemon remixers, but none match your skill in conjuring up memories. You don’t go for flashy epic orchestral remixes, yet by remaining in simplicity you create incredible remasters that feel as if I’m hearing the original soundtrack of a DS pokemon game on the switch. It’s truly amazing, and you need waaaaaaaaaaaay more subs.
This and Iris' theme perfectly encapsulate the feel of fighting them, there's that intensity in there, but not so much that it's stressful, it just sounds fun
i love all this love black (2) and white (2) are getting 10 (8) years after their release. driftveil memes and gen 5 music memes and now this? game freak better pull through and finish what it started
Listening to the original version of this, and then this remaster, is just incredible. There's such a stark contrast yet it stays true to the original, this is a masterpiece like all your others.
You're perfect at making remastered versions of songs that not only keep the same battle vibe but sound accurate to what gamefreak would do for these themes if they were to be remastered.

This remaster makes studying so much more intense. Thank you for making every moment (even when it's incorrect) into a big brain moment. Hehe music make brain go brrrrr
theres one slight detail missing, that part at 0:55 where it gets calmer the music is supposed to switch between left and right ear rapidly, giving a very disorientating effect
0:37 just makes me think of an underlying madness on the surface of his logic based demeanour, he tries to act as emotionless and robotic as possible but that part just shows how crazy he is
Usually I don't like remasters but this really captures the feeling of the theme and still grasps onto the original feel the BW version had. Great work dude
The battle at first sounds like tuning a machine and then using it it. ( Why the chorus sounds like a synthesizer getting feedback from another synthesizer. 1:19 ) I feel like Zame focused on that rather than the ~8 reoccuring samples, which is DEFINITELY the right way to go with this theme.

Going into 2021 still listening to this. Gen 5 has arguably the best soundtrack. Like holy hell was a lot of work put into it to play into regular free roaming into using it to portray the emotions of the character we come across. At least best soundtrack for the regular Nintendo DS pokemon games. I remember my final fight with Colress was so much fun, wanting to battle him along with this theme.
This theme captures that scientist tech vibe he has and the “alright lets get this over with I’m a very smart guy who doesn’t have time for this” theme
