The one feature I would love to see Subaru to incorporate in their vehicles would be a Heads Up Display.

It'd be cool, but would also increase the price of windshields significantly. Living in an area where it's almost a guarantee that you're going to be replacing a windshield every 12-18 months, I'm not sure the tech would outweigh the con of the cost.
Even with insurance, it still shows as a claim on the CarFax.

Actually, the HUD is projected on the windshield. Just a regular windshield. Had a Mazda, CX-5. Outstanding HUD and I had to replace a windshield where I learned, it's just a standard OEM windshield.

@bremnet1812 in my experience with different makes and models over the years, the vehicles with HUD's have specialized windshields that are either coated, or have a special portion of the windshield made of a specific glass that allows for the projection to be seen easily.
I did a quick Google search to see if things had changed since I last looked into it and came across this quote:
"HUD-enabled windshields are often coated with a specialized compound containing nanophosphors, which allow the windshield to be used as a transparent screen."

My wife and I have agreed that when my current car dies or rusts out-whatever happens first, either the Mazda CX90 or the Subaru Ascent will be our family’s next car. I will be honest the 2022 is my personal favourite as it doesn’t have the new Eyesight system or that horrible 12” iPad on the dash which is such a distraction.
Plus I despise Eyesight since I work for Speedy Glass and our shop has serious issues recalibrating Subarus Eyesight especially the new four step system with the mono camera. It can take us up to two hours to get a successful calibration or no calibration at all.

Those are both good choices to compare between! I don't have a whole bunch of experience with Mazda's as we don't have a dealer near us, but I think other than the CX90 wanting Premium fuel for their advertised power/economy, they're gorgeous vehicles.
I can understand someone's hesitation with the 11.6" touch screen. Luckily, the vast majority of my clients tell me that they're used to it in less than 2 weeks, and once they get the hang of the voice controls, they almost never even need to touch the screen!
I don't have any personal experience doing glass, but I do know that several of the glass shops in town bring the Subarus they're working on to us to get them recalibrated instead of doing it/attempting it themselves.

@ the previous generation of eyesight is easier to calibrate but not by much.
Earlier this year we had a customer with a Legacy for a new windshield. Somehow the software for Eyesight was deleted from the car and Subaru Canada blamed us for it.
We don’t have the software to delete anything, but Speedy didn’t argue and coughed up the $6500 for the replacement hardware and software.
And I hate the touchscreen personally. If cellphones are banned why is a giant 12” screen allowed in a car? It’s just as distracting as a phone

@@kevinW826 Sounds like a freak situation.
It would be easier for everyone if we went back to no screens and just had analog buttons, but here we are...
Voice commands make it much easier.

@ not really. If I went with an EV it would be either the Hyundai Ioniq 5/6 or the Subaru BZ4X as they have physical buttons and knobs and physical door handles

@@kevinW826 we can agree to disagree on that.
There are physical buttons for the temperature in the Ascent, too. I'm not saying that touch screens are for everyone, but there are ways to overcome it.
Some people just aren't going to like it, and that's totally fine. Not every vehicle is for everyone, that's why there are so many makes/models.
