We enjoyed watching this show. Is it not a noun phrase working as an object? If we put a question Enjoyed what? The answer will be watching this show. Regards
Sir , I'hv a doubt. Whether Adverb of Place can be subject complement ??? E.g. " Rohan is here. " " Sohan is there." In these sentences , here & there act as complement , but the part of speech of "here" & "there" is "Adverb of Place".
They are working as adjectives here, giving information about the existence of the subject. And yes, they are called subject complements in these examples.
Hi prof. I have a question : In previous courses, you said that preposition phrase functions as adjective or adverbe ok , but in some cases ,we find preposition phrase after transtive verb not an direct object (noun or pronoun),but transitive need to direct object not adj or adv, so can you explain this contradiction .for example, i choose between tea or coffe(chooae what ?? So choose transitive verb need to direct object not preposition phrase) Thnks
Hello Ashish ! I checked the answers of the practice set on your website, and I feel quite confused. In the sentence "Don't put ice cubes in my drink." isn't 'in my drink' an adverbial complement ? We ask ourselves the question, "not to put the ice cubes where ???" and the answer we get is 'in my drink'. Isn't it ?
@@EnglishWithAshish In your video, you have definitely called it an adverbial complement, however on your website, it's mentioned as verb complement. And you also mentioned in your video that verb complement is not the same as an adverbial complement. So that's there !
@@EnglishWithAshish I wish I could share the screenshot here :( Click on the link in your description of this video and please see the example number 5 of the practice set. It is the same example, the one about ice cubes. I checked it just now and it's there :)
Hi,Ashish. Can dependent clauses have adverbials or complements? For example, "He told me that I should wait until I got older to go to school". What is "to go to school" in this sentence?Adverbial to wait?Complement to older?Part of the adverb clause "until I got older..." KIND OF CONFUSING.

Brilliant work!
Thank you! 🌸
Sir just two doubts.
1- can subject complement come after intransitive verb?
2- the sun shone brightly, what is brightly in it?
No, only after a linking verb.
And brightly is an adverb here.
Thanks
You're welcome.

Yes, it's an adverbial complement. Did I not call it an adverbial complement?

I just checked it. The example is not there. A similar example is there where I've broken it down.
