As a 43 year old who grew up in those days..i can honestly say that I think 1986-94 was the greatest era in music, tv, movies, & fashion.
Preach!!!
i would say 1986 to 1997.
@@sirquacksalot6463 I'd say 87 - 93
@@strickyboiwonder so your just gonna act like the mid 90s didn’t happen
I'm gonna say 85 to present cuz I'm still here 😂
Such a great era in music really ushered in the golden era of R&B.
I want to bring it back like for real.
One of the great sounds of the early-mid 90's!!! This is how we dooo it!!!!!
New Jack swing and hip house is too underrated
RIP Andre Harrell 🙏🏾
my favourite genre of music. gospel music meets rnb and dance music. pure sounds from light*

I'm 37, and though I was born in 1984, I can remember seeing Ghostbusters 2 in movie theaters when I was only a 5yr old child, and that's when I heard Bobby Brown for the first time, the jam On Our Own. From that point on I grew a huge love for the new jack swing era and discovered so many more of the greatest artist in the peak of the NJS era, Keith Sweat, Guy, New Edition, Troop, Christopher William's etc etc...the list goes on and on. Till this day everytime I throw on any of my favorites from that era it always gives me a feeling of joy&happiness. Its takes me back in time to when I was younger and Life was simpler. I have been fortunate enough to see many that are still active in music of the greatest LIVE numerous times, THAT is something I never thought would of been a possibility. The NJS Era was a special time and gave me a special feeling in my youth. Grateful I was introduced to such a unique genre of music, it hits me in a way that will forever bring a genuine smile to my face. ❤
I was teen and it was my favorite style of music
Why always people forget to talk about Michael Jackson when they talk about New Jack Swing, he did the biggest selling new jack swing album Dangerous with the inventor of the genre Teddy Riley
yea but its fake new jack swing just like andre harrell said in this video. Michael Jackson has nothing to do with the new jack swing vibe.
Yes he is all the songs like Remember The Time
How is it fake when Teddy Riley produced … 😅?
@@MrEOM41 like for real🤦🏾♂️
@@DjIceCnShow is it fair if it’s produced by Teddy Riley
Bobby Bobby Bobby 🔥🔥🙌🏾
New jack swing is the birth of hip-hop and RNB
I miss this era!
I'm 23 n I can say new jack swing was one of THE GREATEST eras in black music
having grown up on this sound, this is a subject very close to my heart. but i will say.. the whole shock combining hip hop beats with rnb vocals is a false narrative and time and time again it was rehashed in new marketing for different types of rnb. pre 90s rnb was not all slow jams as we know. 80s rnb boogie and funk is not all that different to new jack swing. funnily enough in the mid 90s you had Jodeci, claiming ground breaking combination of the two genres, then also we had Riff do the same thing and act like they weren't just apart of the teddy riley, new edition rnb scene they emulated, then most notably there was Mary J Blige, whose earlier shit was on the new jack tip, but later soon developed into a more "Hip Hop Soul".
Agreed! The ideal of combining singing with hip-hop beats already existed! Check out electro-soul and the minneapolis sound!
Still my favourite shit
I'm a 32-year-old Australian and I've only just learned about New Jack Swing.
New Jack Swing sounds (to me) like hip hop mixed with Prince's funk and some Go-go music.
Bro that’s very very accurate 👍 you know your stuff
Just wanna point out the girl at 0:46 is gorgeous
New Jack bro 😎 🇨🇦 peace homie g !
Andre Harrell forgot about La/Face and Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis.
Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis are more associated with the Minneapolis sound.
@@mememocha1 ? they definetly did their own version of NJS
i think mr harrell bigged up his own crew on purpose though lol
Yep.LaFace had Bobby too
New jack swing was so dOPE!
Seen you last night,
👁 Saw you standing there…
❤️Keith Sweat
Teddy Riley was every where during that time.
it's in glitch hop too tbh no cap well glitch hop did came from New Jack Swing and G Funk but with Dubstep stuff into tbh no cap
Harrell hating hard on R. Kelly!! No matter where you go in this world, if there's an old school party and they play New Jack Swing, they definitely play Vibe. Harrell a hatin' son of a gun lol
Rikkid Germano I love RKels but he ganked Aaron Hall swag when he first came out
Only the visual, his voice is totally different! Listen to the R. Kelly album where Robert sounds much like the Isleys, that is why they featured each other a lot at that time and don't forget, Aaron sounds a lot like Charlie Wilson. It's not R. Kelly's fault that Aaron never really had hits, his potential is limited while R. Kelly is a superb live singer, producer & entertainer.
Naw, Kelly straight jacked his sound. Aaron Hall got his style from Charlie Wilson though.
I know. Jimmy jam and terry lewis etc.. you could say mj was a fake NJS artist with dangerous. Especially as Remember the time is the only legit sounding njs song. However, then you can refer to Damian Dame and R Kelly again. Exclusivity by damian dame and she's lovin me by r kelly and public announcement. It sounds like those songs. Damian dame were first with exclusivity
@21stcenturyenigma u remember wrong, because R Kelly had nothing to do with that song
RnB and hip pop and Dubstep came from blues and jazz soul and Funk
I’m a 20 year old tryna find the best NJS songs does anyone have suggestions? Also if you know any of the songs in the video, I appreciate it as well thanks
Lynch Troutman pinch of lunch album
The lexxus tip album
Gangsta rap a.k.a the chronic killed it off. People wanted something exciting and unfamiliar. Well look at where we are now smdh. Trying to step away from sex money murder but yet the people keep finding an excuse to go back to it. People stuck on what makes money for certain rather than going for a chance to create new culture. It's sickening.. new jack swing ended abruptly like the 70's charger...
THIS KID WAS 1 YEARS OLD
CUT IT OUT
