@@oliverz.3555 I dont think he was insulting the orchestra. I can see why it seems that way though lol he was using the expression to affirm that it is in fact the best jazz orchestra. Kind of like when you eat a really good burger and go, "Damn, is this the best burger youve ever tasted, or what?!"
I first saw Ellis and Wynton perform in concert at the Joyce theater in New York's west side at least 30 years ago and knew that immediately that greatness was in the cards for Wynton
The trumpet section for this performance was comprised of Wynton Marsalis, Greg Gisbert, Kenny Rampton, Marcus Printup, and James Zollar (plus Sean Jones as the trumpet soloist for this tune)
to any future vocalists doing this transcribed by Christopher Crenshaw, just listen to this. the sheet music is a good general guideline but is completely different to what shes actually singing.
In my opinion Elliot mason is the best at communicating with the rhythm section while soloing it’s actually so crazy how good he is at it
Rest in Peace, Ellis Marsalis; thank you for the wonderful music and the wonderful lineage...
Is THIS the best jazz orchestra on planet earth, or what?!
Have you a problem with the Orchestra?
