Dang man. Each time you pop in something new to the videos I think, "He's done it boys, we've hit peak Neeve". Then you go and push things to the next level again 😂
I love when Spyderco gets their proper due. I have some really expensive folding knives that pale in comparison to Spyderco. I really wish we’d start putting pressure on these mid tech companies to give us what we pay for.
Great style of video and quite different to your usual presentation. I like it! Also, a video with budget options as you mentioned would be greatly appreciated. My wallet isn't as big as my love for knives. 😂 and the budget sector has improved so much over the last years, it's really impressive.
Fun topic, I enjoyed watching this one. I was watching this and thinking to myself, "wait a minute - the Rockwall and Waypoint are very similar, why have both?" - and then right at the end you pulled the switcheroo and swapped it out, lol.
The self defense category...that is the one I SERIOULY disagree with (I like basically everything else you showed). For 99% of people who don't practice knife combat on a weekly basis you want LONG blades..not short ones. ones that will create distance, require minimal training. Preferably serrated. Small blades like the first one you showed are A. not going to intimidate (and may prevent altercation) and B. require you to be point blank with your attacker. Wave opening, and 4" for the average person if your really serious about carrying a dedicated personal defense knife. ALSO, no knife is good for defense unless you practice taking it out over and over and over and over and over again. So your still better off using your main knife as you will have the muscle memory already.
For the salt water be it fishing or going to the beach. Spydie chef has been my knife of choice. I even like how it fits in the bathing suit pocket and cuts up bait well.
Let's see... knives selected from my collection. I can't really pick favorites but I'll give some options for each category. For outdoor knives I'd likely carry a pair. One larger blade suitable for some batoning and a smaller companion knife. From my collection these would likely be a Mora Garberg and a Mora Eldris... or maybe a Condor Bushlore and Condor Mini Bushlore. Work knives... I'll continue with another large/small pairing as that's what I EDC. Favorites include the Spyderco PM2 (in both wharncliffe and drop point) and Dragonfly... or a Civivi Bullmastiff and Baby Banter. I generally like a "big" slicey knife for back production areas and a small "less scary" knife for the retail sales floor. A slightly more expensive option might be my D2 Demko AD20.5 with billet aluminum scales or one of my Spyderco Shamans along with a s35vn Baby Banter. My defensive option doubles down as a fidget toy. I currently carry a Kizer Begleiter XL button lock in a horizontal cross-draw sheath. It's just under 4 inches... and can be deployed nearly as fast as a fixed blade. A simple rotation as I draw the knife let's me depress the button lock and have the blade deployed before my arm reaches full extension. (Drawing it off-hand is still fairly fast but would end in a reverse grip.) My saltwater option would be a Spydero fully Serrated Sheepfoot Caribbean Salt. My travel/gent options mostly include a selection of Victorinox SAK's or a Civivi Appalachian Drifter 2. A potential international option being a small lockless double detent folder like a Civivi Ferrum Forge Stylum... but depending on where I'm traveling I'd likely stick with a travel friendly bladeless Victorinox so I could always have it on me and just buy a inexpensive locally acceptable cutting option when I arrive at my destination. (Traveling and Collecting knives, best of both worlds! Just need to mail the new knife to myself before flying home.)
My 5 knives are my (1. svord mini peasent knife, )(2. Ruike p801,)( 3. Ruike hussar.) And (Mora companion s/s ) And ( a Victory broad fillet knife) Ps. The ruike hussar would be a good self defense blade, as well as normal applications. (All the best from Nz.)
Dude , you gotta have a penguin 😜. Is the plus as good as the OG ? There’s so many penguins out there to choose from , lol. So a chavivi Cheetos in cf w dama blade came today and the lockbar was hard a f for a while , got softer and then I decided to bend it and that was the cure of its ailments . I still may put it back and Dremel out the access but it should have better access and it would be a popular knife . There’s nothing not to like except that crappy acess ability to the lockbar . It’s late I crashed for two hours earlier so I’m up late sorry about the long comment. Have a good Sunday brothers and sisters
Yea budget me up man. I recently got sucked into the world of high-end leather boots, so now its knives, guns, tools, guitar, hunting and boots. Somebody fucking help me.....seriously help. I think my lady is plotting to kill me with the next knife I buy...
The production and editing on this video is great! Love rolling in the extra clips at the beginning and all the b roll. This is a fun game to play "If I only had $X what knives would I buy to cover all the bases."
I definitely noticed some improvements with this video. The thumbnail has that professional UA-camr style and I noticed you guys started including in some short jump cut edits. Reminds me of what old school BladeHQ used to do back when it was Ben, Zac and Jamie running the show. You guys really upped your game on this one! The Gayle Bradley 2 was my favorite from this lineup. It's a no nonsense slicing machine. No real fidget factor to it but just a knife that likes to slice and does it well. Great pick on that one! Lc200N blade steel might be the best bet for salt water if you're on the boat. But if you're diving into the water and need a knife H1 steel is sadly the only option if you want a knife that will never rust. It's just unfortunate that it can never hold an edge either. I only had one gripe with the video... Where was the khukuri in all this? It's the one knife we all know can do EVERYTHING. Wood chopping, Hard use work knife, Self defense and Gent carry all rolled into one. Maybe next video the khukuri will get its well deserved spotlight focus time.
Great video, and I'm definitely looking forward to the budget version. A couple of points to mention. Firstly, while not quite as corrosion resistant as LC200N or Vanax, Magnacut is sufficiently rust proof that Syderco is using it in their Salt series. So if you pick something in another category with Magnacut (e.g., the Hogue Deka), that knife can double as you're saltwater knife. My other tip is using a slipjoint for a backup or 5th pocket knife for two reasons. Firstly, if you need to lend a knife to someone who knows nothing about knives, it's surprising how many don't know how to operate ANY common knife locks (Zach and Ben did a great video on this a few months ago). Secondly, slipjoints are just inherently less scary to use in front of the ignorant general populous, and there will probably be times when that must be accommodated.
My picks, just preference of course 1) Survive! GSO any size (survival/outdoor) 2) agree w/ manix (daily user) 3) agree spiderco native 5 LC200N (corrosion resistant) 4) agree again 940 is a great choice (backup) 5) Amtac Northman (defensive) 6) travel knife for me is spyderco dragonfly 2 in K390. Slip joint would be spyderco native. My extra category is deployment knife: Microtech socom elite partial serration
This is a great type of video. Now I have no excuse to own any more than 5-6 knives. THANKS JERAD. Just kidding! hahaha :o) But yeah I love videos like this, please do more lists; they're super interesting & they should also get them clicks! :o)

Definatly would love to see a budget version of this list. Great selection and awesome that you threw a fixed blade in there. Personally my list (from my knives) would be something like a Ruike Yager (fixed Blade), Cold Steel AD10 (Hard Use), Civivi Riffle (Slicer), CJRB Small Centros (5th pocket backup or gent one), and a Papa Bear Knives Pocket Lucky as a backup small fixed blade. These are just off the top of my head without going through the whole collection and has a mix of budget and more premium knives. Definatly a great vid making me think about my whole collection to see what would fit where lol. Thanks for the great vid Jerad and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable
I just get most all my blades from those “scam” emails where “All you pay is shipping and it’s yours for free, 60 day $back guarantee!!” Emails.. I’ve gotten *A Lot* of decent EDC blades that I’ve used for years… Never paid over 24.99 for any of them… 🤷🏻♂️ just my 2 Pennies
Interesting list...Coming from a Fixed blade guy personally would equate the Tops BOB somewhere between the Ontario Rat 1 and the Cold Steel SR1 Lite comparatively...Just Say’n
Honorable Knife God - please feature 10 budget knives under $100 that ALL pass your test for: acceptable-to-good steel, inset deep carry pocket clip with flat-screws, T8 torx all around, decent scale material, good sharpening choil, decent weight, good blade geometry, comfy ergos and good action regardless of locking mechanism and manufacturer. Respect 🙏.
Great job on the vid Jerad !!! The end was brilliant! I was thinking what you exactly did 😂, keep the quiet carry and swap it with the griptillian. I do the same but my gent knife is the Quietcarry Drift in Vanax Superclean ,BANG❗️
Those jackwolf knives aren't worth the $ to me. The 1 I finally pulled trigger on and bought hoping there was something to them I couldn't see. Naw. I bought $70 two sun slippy with titanium liners and bone handles. With s90v. I gave around a 3rd of the price for it compared to the jack wolf. The two sun is as good. I like the design of the two sun better. Ik those jackwolf knives supposed be older models with modern materials but they so so overpriced. I even got some of those apta knives from rough rider that really are impressive for the prices of around $25 or less. I can't understand why the knife guys push them so much. They just not worth the $ compared to what else is available
I would love to see a budget friendly version. Yes, I have a problem. I have to have a 7th category multitool. Ok 8 categories fidget king. That's why I stay broke.
I have the yojimbo, Gayle Bradley, and the Tops B.O.B. All are awesome! I carry 2 Gayle Bradley’s every day. One that was shortened as my back up. such a good knife.
Love your work, brother! It's funny. If I didn't know you from the videos, I'd swear you were doing a voiceover or lip sync, lol. Your voice doesn't match your face!
I have all of these except the TRM. All good picks. I'd choose a different fixed blade, but that's because I have so damn many fixed blades already due to that problem you spoke of so I have plenty which I like better. I'd also separate that category. One for survival/general field use and one for bushcraft/camp knife. Again, I have enough knives that I can do that due to previously mentioned problem. 😆🤣😁😛🤠😎💯
It's an interesting idea but this is really five knives for life. EDC is more of a "in your typical daily life what do you actually carry or need to carry" which is hugely variable.

A budget based video would be a cool spin on this, though nothing you posted was to crazy expensive still attainable for alot id imagine with some time/saving. But a budget one would still be cool 🤙🏼🤟🏻🤘🏻
yeah especially since im growing it out, and yes im working really hard to improve the quality of the channel and videos and atm im out of my confort level and testing my own patience but in the end i will learn much better filming and editing skills that will hopefully pay off in the long run, or im gonna just hire an editor lol
i like to believe in quality vs quantity, i have three and only 3 knives. civivi mini praxis, thin and inexpensive and i just love the way it looks. great edc outside of work. civivi odium, i like smaller blades because it’s easy to carry and i work in an healthcare setting where something bigger than that might be unsettling to see (i’m not supposed to have one anyways but i can’t go without a blade) even this small blade has unsettled some at work but i refuse to not have one and lastly benchmade mini adamas, this is my workhorse and i appreciate that it’s tough and that benchmade has a lifetime sharpening program. planing to own this knife for hopefully the rest of my life.
I would love to see a budget friendly version of this. Thank you.

I really want the Quiet Carry Waypoint, but it is not available anywhere.
I'm pretty sure it's available on quiet carry website
Nice thumbnail, the style of your videos improves every month it seems. You’re getting a little grey in the beard just like I am, looks distinguished.
yeah especially since im growing it out, and yes im working really hard to improve the quality of the channel and videos and atm im out of my confort level and testing my own patience but in the end i will learn much better filming and editing skills that will hopefully pay off in the long run, or im gonna just hire an editor lol
@@NeevesKnives looks good to me man!
Let's see the budget version
Very loose definition of “need”
Budget friendly...yes
Yea a budget friendly list similar to this one would be great man, thanks!
The problem 😂😂
Great list. Nice job with the edits brother 👍
4 kitchen knives (paring, bread, boning, and chef), an esee and a kubey 117
Kitchen knives not included in the list
@@NeevesKnives prolly add a butter knife to be proper

Your editing skills are getting better nice.
Thanks! hopefully it only continues to get even better
Nice!!! )
Best knive channel
Bang
i like to believe in quality vs quantity, i have three and only 3 knives.
civivi mini praxis, thin and inexpensive and i just love the way it looks. great edc outside of work.
civivi odium, i like smaller blades because it’s easy to carry and i work in an healthcare setting where something bigger than that might be unsettling to see (i’m not supposed to have one anyways but i can’t go without a blade) even this small blade has unsettled some at work but i refuse to not have one
and lastly benchmade mini adamas, this is my workhorse and i appreciate that it’s tough and that benchmade has a lifetime sharpening program. planing to own this knife for hopefully the rest of my life.
Great list! 👊
