Always brag that I sang "Hey Jude" live with Sir Paul. Of course, there were 20,000 others that sang along with us that night. Hands down, the best concert ever.
Imagine if the Beatles did a halftime show. John was asked in a Monday Night football game in 1974 if the Beatles would ever reunite. He said that if it was spectacular as that football game he was at that it would be worth it.
If John hadn't died, I'd say like the Bee Gees the Beetles reuniting would have been inevitable. Peter Jackson's Get Back project on Disney+ showed how their last year together was NOT the conflict ridden fiasco people think it was--they were just getting older and going into the "time to do our own things for now" phase.
I think they would have done the halftime show eventually. The payday alone may have gotten them all together. So many “what ifs” with them. Imagine the album they would have put out after 20 years!! Sadly, John was taken away much too early. He was only alive for 10 years after the Beatles split. God damn tragedy.
Paul McCartney's Halftime Show was on par with Michael Jackson's and Prince's........all 3 were significantly better than what we've gotten recently......
I bet sipping that margarita in the private box, watching the 2nd half of a super bowl, knowing you've just crushed it playing an awesome show in front of billions of people felt pretty good
Imagine in an alternate universe if you will....Paul McCartney takes stage...starts singing some of his signature hits but then we pan to the drummer...it's Ringo Starr! A neat surprise as he sings a song of his own...but nothing out of the ordinary...Paul and Ringo had been seen together on and off over the years....but then Ringo's song finishes and a very familiar acoustic guitar lick echoes throughout the stadium....a platform rises and on it is George Harrison singing Here Comes The Sun...this is a HUGE surprise!! George and Paul have BARELY been seen together...but just as Here Comes The Sun wrap up...we hear a very familiar "shoot" and from behind George Harrison emerges John Lennon....it's a full reunion! All 4 Beatles playing together for probably the first time in decades! The show ends with all 4 singing a climatic Hey Jude... Wrapping an emotional bow on the impact the Beatles really had on the world...and a legendary performance for ages to come I wish I lived in this universe
Thats the difference between rock and pop performers. Even when both can be great, the pop ones are more about the coreography, the transitions by the artists, they use all the production resources in such an amazing way, but hell they wont be able to do any cool stuff at the age of 60 or over, I mean, even MJ, Beyoncé or Gaga wich all have amazing voices and talent, they need to dance, to jump all over the place, to be all theatricall, and rock shows dont need any of that, of course they use production, some fires here and there, lights and that "basic" stuff, but in the end is everything about their music, the feeling in every chord, drum and voice singed, their greatness can break any kind of barriers. Thats why its not fair to compare the Paul, Who, Stones, Prince or Tom pettys presentations to Michael Jackson, Bruno, Justin, Madonna, Gaga, etc. Both great, but in such a different way
EXCELLENT comment. I thought same but couldn't put it into words, especially after seeing LV's "Weeknd" gig... all lights and sound processing, but little real talent, esp compared to McCartney, Prince, The Who, etc.

I was 17 years old and my BF at the time signed him, myself, and his dad up to volunteer at the half time show to help push the stage out onto the field. We had to go like 2 or 3 times to practice before the big day and it was AMAZING to get to be there for the actual practice show. I remember they flew a bunch of MTV audience people in and told the volunteer crew (which was mostly middle aged people) that when we finished getting the stage to its spot we were to move back and let the flown in audience in the front but when the actual moment happened I think it was such a frenzy that you just stood where there was space and everyone was having a blast from both groups. Unforgettable experience.
