Pretty sure TLJ said that a few of Luke’s students joined Kylo when he destroyed the academy so it makes sense that the knights are failed Jedi students
Did Luke have any other kind? Seriously, Ben/Kylo wasn't even *born* until after RotJ! That means that, in however many years passed until that fateful night in Ben's hut, Luke had not produced *any* fully-trained Jedi! In RotS, Zett Jukassa performed impressively and it took numerous clonetroopers to bring him down despite the fact that he was a kid! Was Luke just a crappy Master and Ben only became as powerful as he did thanks to his Skywalker lineage?

@@beardedbjorn5520 - I hate this stupid modern trend where *everything* has to be "darker & edgier" and get deconstructed. A large part of why TLJ was so bad was because *everybody* was depicted as incompetent, and yet we're supposed to find the characters interesting. If I want to see a bitter old man I can just go spend time at the senior citizen center!
@@daniels7907 I agree with you 100%. 10 years ago I was begging for things to be just that little bit darker and grittier. I am so over it at this point. I've noticed that I keep going back to movies from the 80's and earlier lately.
@@daniels7907 i assume he only tried to train kids and only after he got a place stablished to do it. students wouldn't have been older than Ben. Also, if i were Ben i would have killed the older ones and take the younger, much easier to indoctrinate.

Solo was decent overall, I think the timing of its release was the main reason it flopped
It's the best StarWars movie that Disney has had a part in, IMO. Rogue1 is a close 2nd.

I feel bad for everyone that was expecting for the knights of ren to be force users. We didn’t see them using the force😭
If I remember something they were a force sensitive cult (or at least a force cult, even if they weren't sensitives) but they had no teachings about how to use the force or something weird.

I still think having no Knights of Ren in Episode VIII was one of the biggest missed opportunities. Also, Lucasfilm should have let JJ Abrams direct the Sequel Trilogy, which I, think is also another missed opportunity.
I understand Rian Johnson's vision. But I think he used it in a wrong movie. I think his idea, vision or what he wanted to make would have worked if Lucasfilm let him direct a different standalone Star Wars movie not Episode VIII.
doubt it. half the movie is irrelevant and the other half is a fundamentally broken mess.... at least it looks pretty i guess.

"They [Knights of Ren] became a resistance against the new republic" I'm pretty sure you just described the Sequel Trilogy that I would have most loved to see (along with Luke countering them with a handful of the surviving Jedi Padawans)
If I were to write a reason as to why the Knights of Ren don't use Lightsabers, it would be because they PREFER to use them. Why? To feel their weapons hitting their enemies, flesh rending and increasing the connection to the Dark side through sadism.
Lightsabers are too fast, too deadly, doesn't make your enemy suffer. Not a good weapon for one who want to immerse themselves in the evil emotions of the Dark side.
If I remember right there was a Sith mentioned in the Old Republic that didn't use a lightsaber for that exact purpose. I wish I could remember where I came across this though.

I don't think Broom Boy was ever supposed to be an important character. He was only used to show us, that the Force and the Jedi aren't dead, people only kinda misunderstood that...

Solo was great and Ron Howard showed his brilliance with how he saved what was initially a total shit sandwich from A to Z.
When I first heard about the Knights of Ren, it was my understanding that they were ancient Dark Siders who pre-date the earliest known Sith. And that the Sith got much of their beliefs and knowledge of the Force from them.
Alan, you just gave more of an explanation as to why Kylo is the way he is, than any of the people responsible for making the films.

Revan, Bane, Vader, and even Kylo Ren. Yes Kylo didn't wear 'plate armor' but his clothing is clearly formed of multplie layers of weaved armor materials like some kind of chainmail or Kevlar. And yes lightsaber resistant and blaster resistant fabrics do exist in Star Wars. Vader's cape can deflect blaster bolts.

I can't speak for anyone else but the issue with Han Solo for me was is pretty obvious, they pitched it as a dark comedy which honestly would have fit Han's character perfectly then took out a bunch of the jokes. Have you ever met a depressed smartass? A sense of humor is basically an essential survival mechanism for some and I know that question is pointless because depression laced smart assery is this channels bread and butter.
I always thought the Knights of Ren were fellow students of Luke and turned to the Dark Side with Kylo

To fix the Kinghts of Ren not being in The Last Jedi a stand alone movie could of been made. Just like they did with Rogue One and Solo. That casual fans could learn more about them and not wonder who they are once they finally make them big screen debut. It would of also gave them more time to make next Star Wars movie better.
They sadly had to completely change up how they would be presented. The Knights of Ren apparently had no prior connection with Kylo and were basically inquisitors with far better force reading, which does make them perfect for a secret sect in need of trackers and spy’s. Kinda like Nazgul but better trackers and less fighters.

You gotta remember the solo movie only bombed at the box office because people boycotted cause the kenobi series was being threatened to be scrapped
What you and a lot of other people fail to realize is that they've been treated pretty similarly to Emperor Palpatine in the OT. Only mentioned or seen briefly in the first two films, to subsequently play a more significant role in the third installment of each respective trilogy.
This is all to say: I love how they've been very mysterious up until now and they're one of the elements I'm most looking forward to in TROS.
As much as I enjoyed the fact that his star wars film was somewhat different from what I expected I do not envy JJ Abrams when you put it that way. His idea of a good star trek film is make it a well made starwars film with more lense flares and at least that didn't bore me as much as JJ's retelling of episode 4, point is he's not the most original filmmaker for better or for worse.
Yea jj is a great producer in my opinion. He’s great at working with others and hearing peoples ideas. But it’s usually auteurs who are kind of pricks that create the best works.
Theres definitely a culture there due to the borderline deification of Stanley Kubrick. The man made amazing films but at the cost of literally traumatizing his actors. Many amazing films have been made since without mistreating or disrespecting the cast.
You say the knights don't use lightsabers but the Rouge(the one at 5:24) has a lightsaber on his belt
The acolytes of the beyond makes sense for the Knights of Ren 💯. They couldve used that and had a better trilogy

One of the easiest ways of papering over the mess Johnson left the films in is to make the Knights dark relic hunters. The reason they haven't yet appeared is because they've been tending to a strong, evil presence overwhelming dark side that calls to them. This presence can be the essence of Palpatine and when Kylo realises the galaxy is at stake should he be allowed to rise he will join Rey in fighting a greater cause. There's a reason Kylo hasn't got sith eyes, he's redeemable and will realise after connecting to his family through the force that he made a mistake but has the power to prevent a lifetime of darkness.

I agree that these knights of ren should have had a better intro and story arc. I can tell you are a great fan brother and really are excited for what could be with the sequels. I am excited for what lies ahead, I just want a good story and nothing rushed or lazily put together.
Solo didn't flop based on its own merits. It flopped because The Last Jedi pissed off Star Wars fans so they refused to go see Solo. Its a shame too because I found the film to be quite enjoyable.

If Episode 9 sucks, then f*ck Star Wars! Knights of Ren better be saber-users in the final installment! They come back to help Kylo, and they have light-sabers after mastering their powers!
Looks more like Samurai Armor...Which is what Vader helmet was fashioned after. There was a reason that samurai masks and armor looked unique.

there names are John Ren, Paul Ren, George Ren and Ringo Ren. There manager is Brian Ren and Producer George M. Ren and Kylo Ren was the 5th Ren.
Original Jedi did not have crystals they used swords and vibro blades. Which directly ties into Legends.

That one clip where Luke is all set to use his lightsaber on Ben just reminds me all over again how I *hate* the way the new trilogy mangled Luke's character. Be interesting to see what they do with the Knights, hopefully not just bit players in the next movie

Allen, if you look at sw9 trailer it looks like Kylo's taking out one of the knights? "Check out his/her melee weapon". What do you think ppl?? The clips in question is battle scene with kylo half shoulder barging and using cross guard on sabre. Clip 2 a different knight slumped over kylos back, after being stabbed. Kylos in a kneeling stance and the knight was directly behind him!

Kylo Ren took the name of Ren, because a part of the club. Makes sense. We’re the other Ren guys also named Ren to show brotherhood? Makes sense if they did. Elected leader because of lineage? We’ll, he seemed the most driven, not just because of nepotism and he could also stop lasers mid air. I would not mess with that when voting, right?

Disney seems to have pretty much made light sabers energy vibro blades the distinctions seem to have been lost. As examples of this all you have to do is look at how little damage Disney era light sabers do to human flesh.

Personally I think (and hope) the Sith are and never could be "ended". The Sith are a ideology, a type of thinking and acting. They were wipped out and reborn time and time again - and very likely will be again. May it be out of a young force user finding old Sith-writings, or a gifted individium teached by the ghost of a long deceased Dark Lord. That did not mean that there could be other forms of dar-foce users.

@@addamriley7713 my belief lies in an exchange of words between Kylo and his General when Fin escapes. Kylo said that they should've created clones to prevent such a case; the General states that his child soldiers were unbeatable, having been trained from an early age (kidnapped from their families).
MY THEORY: Kylo created a special project which developed a small "test group" of Clones. They would be kept secret and under his direct command, tasked with various special missions and covert operations

I don't know of anyone who didn't like Solo; it bombed because Episode 8 was what it was and people weren't trusting of Star Wars at the time.

Trevorrow basically copied the idea from the original "Jurassic Park" so he has about as much creativity as Jar Jar Abrams.
You missed the part where this Disney nonsence isn't Star Wars.
The lightsabers do not connect to the user. It is a specific type of crystal that causes a force bond between the crystal and its wielder. And that isn't a "Khyber" crystal. There are many different crystals used in lightsaber construction. Some for focusing, some for colour and some for different affects and abbilities. None of which are called "khyber".
Hilarity shall ensue when the knights of Ren battle the warriors of Stimpy.
Wants to make his own mark on the story, signs up for the middle part of the trilogy when there are several stand alone films. 10/10 logic on Abrams part
