She did this one at about the same age sitting at home and singing to the camera (no visible mike) and some background music. Very similar with her belts slightly better than this version but being live and it appears outdoors this is very good. Another nice reaction, pity you can't hear her 16 year old version of this song as I find it mind blowingly good, you just have to wait:)

Plus she had a cold during this performance. So you can't hear her true voice and her breathing can't support what she wants to do.
Hi there - pls try the 10y Version at home sitting in her armchair - that Performance is my personal Highlight of all Times - but if you dare get tissues ready youll need it - this 60y old guy tears up every time i watch it and thats for Real... vocal Coach Ceci Dover Was crying over it too - one of the Norway got Talent judges told Angelina that she has be given a unique way to communicate emotions and has to protect this way at all costs - one reason no vocal coatch ever teached her singing
Every time Angelina sings a wrong note,some people think it is because of a cold. Did she also have the cold when she was on The view, and missed the last tone .But where did you get the cold from.
@@keldknudsen8713 Her voice is scratchy throughout, brraks frequently, she seems to struggle with breathing and she's nine. Kids that age are constantly catching something.
Thanks for an enjoyable reaction. Angelina sang this song many times, getting better with age, with her most recent version in 2022 being my all time favorite by any artist. Very interesting with the similarity with "Stairway to Heaven". Michael, did you know Jimmy Page was most likely inspired to write "Stairway to Heaven" after being the opening act on tour, for the band Spirit in 1970. The guitarist for Spirit, Randy California was performing an instrumental song "Taurus" and the guitar part of that song is the same as the beginning of "Stairway to Heaven". Randy is my favorite guitarist.
I remembered some controversy but none of the details. Interesting. They did a lot of “borrowing” didn’t they. :)

You can be my funny valentine 😊❤..can't believe I saw this so quickly! You HAVE to go back, at some point, til her at 6. 'I Who Have Nothing'. You will freak, promise..don't hold me to this, but I think she might be a little ill in this. I can usually hear it. She has a couple of live performances where she sang sick. This is how she sounded.

@@michaelgoyettemusicplease be aware that while many fans falsely believe she was 6 when she recorded I Who Have Nothing (as the original video had that wrong age in its title most of it existence), she in fact was already early 8 there. This can be determined by comparing the state of her permanent teeth to known references, like her NGT performances. I explain this in more detail and with still pictures from various videos in a community post.

And there would also be a contradiction, as there are pictures were only the upper middle incisor is missing, whereas in I Who Have Nothing the adjacent lateral ones are gone. Again, I explain this in more detail, and with still image extracts from various videos, at a community post.

Yo! So, can we just talk about how amazing it is that she is able to sing one of the most difficult (and most covered) songs out there with an improv jazz ensemble. Many complain about the pianist being this or that...it's jazz man, sometimes it's next level, sometimes not, but this was "a happening" regardless.
Also, when your friend the jazz 🎺 player comes on, recommend you check out her performance of "Cry Me A River "
There are two, one at 12 with a huge big band that is amazing, but not my favorite even if they blow it out of the water.
My favorite version was her at 11 at a music festival. The whole concert was next level, and her vocals were extraordinary. The band, and specifically the horn section...amazing!

@@michaelgoyettemusic yes thanks for the AJ support. In the 10 yo version, many have deemed it cuteness overload. Singing on chair at home probably with a small recording device. Amazing. But at sixteen we get the fullness of her greatness as a near adult version with what sounds like a studio version with a full orchestra.♥️♥️♥️
14yrs, First studio recording at Republic records. Covering Adeles All I Ask . Rob Christie first time in studio with AJ. He wanted to check out if the rumours were true about being a one take wonder. He sits at the piano, she sits in a pants suit shiny pale pink/apricot. End of first take AJ is finished , done and dusted . Rob is smiling and gobsmacked that rumour was true. Easy because its Angelina. Really enjoying your channel. I am a real Angie phob. 👣Another amazing moment from Angelina`s first years in the limelight. I love this performance, it blew my mind as it was released to YT, even though we already knew from her "put-a-spell-on-you" performance what her skills stood up to, at 9 yo. Even though, as you said, the pianist (as good as he is) did get a bit busy at times. When Angelina released her next version some 6 months later, for the 2016 valentines day, she sat down in her "home studio" and made a version using a backing track. A bit more predictable set up for her I guess, even though I am convinced she prefer live music for her performances. Then she can just say; - "Follow Me" to the musicians, and trust them to do just that. Not quite what she expearienced during this summer-live performance of 2015, I guess.
Anyway, as you are at her 9 years old 2015, I recomand highly not to miss out on her James Brown cover of that year. She performed "I Feel Good", live in consert. To me it`s certainly in the same league as both this performance, and "the Spell" performance. 🤩 Surely another one from her MUST SEE list👣 🤗

This has been one of my all-time favorite songs since it came out in my youth. I have listened to all the legendary versions from the past & love most of them. This version at 9 & her year later version at 10 are amazing for a child, but her latest version from 2 years ago at barely 16, is the most beautiful version I have ever heard, by anyone, male or female, EVER! The only way it could be any better is if we could see her singing it rather than just walking around in an antique shop. Can't wait until you get to age 16 for it!

This is my 167th time listening to this MASTERPIECE and each time I experience a new level of perfection by our ethereal prodigy extraordinaire, Angelina Jordan.
When you listen to the A cappella portions of this performance at the very end of the song you are truly experiencing the genius of Angelina Jordan’s PERFECT PITCH. Sinatra, rest in peace Angelina Jordan, the Bare Foot Queen has taken the crown and there is nothing like her in the universe. When I first heard her perform this. I put it on pause and brought up Sinatra, Bublé, Streisand, Fitzgerald and Vaughan's version of this song to compare it to AJ version, and none of them moved me like this version. It is so hard to comprehend that Angelina from 7 to 16 is the greatest story telling being in my 76 years of experiencing great vocalist and I can't wait for the rest of the story. We are not only hearing it, but we are also feeling each word as though she were singing to each of us individually. She is the only one in this universe that is capable of making us feel the true emotion of this ballad. There is no way to explain this gift that has been given to the universe, does she even know, or understand the power she encompasses? © Larry D. Pifer
Check out her version released on February 14th 2022, 16 years old. Best version of My Funny Valentine I’ve ever heard. Sounds like it’s being sung by a 30 year old sultry woman in a piano bar, not a teenager in an antique furniture store lol!
As Commenter, andyschnell58, below, identifies, her 2022 sing is an epitome of performance art, often paired with her notable 'child seated at home' sing when much younger for contrast and appreciation. Recommended though the '2022' is disappointing only in that we only see her muse in an antique shop rather than perform.

She started her career with BH Gloomy Sunday her audition at NGT, which she won in a landslide 🎉
She said later, their would be no Angelina without BH. BH found her one night surfing on the tablet of her mother and she started loving her music 🎶and the way of singing

In the newer one, she explore the melody in a way Stan Getz would on his saxophone.
Her voice seems a bit fatigued in this one and the pianist is throwing notes out instead of accompanying her, but Angelina’s young artistry is still remarkable.
YO! Even though this is very good by a nine year old, no doubt about that, it is still my least favourite of her performances of the song😊
Her version from exactly 2 years ago is my absolute favourite of them, and on third place overall, taking all of very performances ever into account. The one she did at age 10 in her room is also EXTREMELY good. That friend of yours really need to hear her version from when she had just turned 16, 2 years ago. It is a MUST watch, trust me.

One thing that gets me about this particular performance is how she goes soft again after the loudest part, on the drawn-out word "stay". She does it a little more smoothly the second time, near the end of the song. After the full belt at the beginning of the word, she lets her voice break and then goes smoothly from an almost belted "ay" into the softer sustained vibrato ending of the word. I have found this surprisingly difficult to replicate (singing along with her). My voice usually breaks in the softer part. I think it's because I'm somehow not taking proper advantage of the intentional break before the shift to the final note and the reduction in volume. Whatever it is, I have a really hard time singing it the same way she does. (Granted, I am "not a singer", but I've had *a lot* of practice singing along with her…😊 [Yo.])

You'll find a version of her singing this at 16 on Boris Palenovski's channel. There really is no comparison between the two. Here I think she was working against a cold.

I recommend a Spanish singer, her name is Diana Navarro. She is a very versatile singer who sings different musical styles with a very particular voice and incredible melismas, she always transmits when she sings. The song is "El perdón" official video clip. Best regards

Actually the one sitting at home on Valentine's day at like 9-10 years old is phenomenal, this one out of all of them is just OK. She looked very very uncomfortable singing to this arrangement, which to me is all over the place, more than I have ever seen. Very few views .
It doesn't have a tasty trumpet part, but your friend (and you, of course) might want to react to one of her versions of "Cry Me a River" that has a really great trombone solo in it. She sang it at Prøysenhuset in a summer 2017 concert when she was 11. ua-cam.com/video/Zr4INP8yhB0/v-deo.html (This was an _amazing_ concert. Alas, I only saw it through YT videos.) She did a very different version with a large military band a year later. It's also very good, but I prefer the one I've linked to.
If you want a more "adventurous" selection, you could try rehearsal footage of her "jamming" with some of the same musicans seen in "I Put a Spell on You" on another Screamin' Jay Hanwkins song, "Portrait of a Man", which Angelina rewrote slightly as "Portrait of a Child". ua-cam.com/video/80f3t3dmBbk/v-deo.html The sound is raw and completely "unbalanced", making some of what she sings hard to hear - and the cinematography might make you feel a bit queasy - but it's fun to see her working out how she wants to do the song "on the fly". It's hard to tell how close in time it was to IPaSOY. She was probably 9.

So we gather that you are now going to see this incredibly sweet young woman, who has done nothing but good, and tell her face-to-face that Billie Holiday was a "junkie"? And then, "maybe Angelina picked that up in her voice"? Plus other derogatory remarks. Please consider the following.

I have little doubt of a huge backlash against me for my opinions. That works. If a reactor comes out with that needless kind of talk then they deserve to be brought up short. As for the performance at 9yrs, a mobile phone recording from a distance off-stage will do little to moderate the dominant tones of the piano which I felt was obscuring the excellent vocal.

As you said, the piano player was a little to busy (IMPO) for AJ's singing here. Since she's involved in the composing of your covers/own music as well, I wonder at some of her tension was from that. When she was doing NGT Finale, she glanced over at guy doing the guitar as if she was "telling him" he messed up a slight bit.
I didn’t notice the guitar player interaction but you’re probably right….you shouldn’t really draw attention to a person who made a mistake that way but she was a child after all! ❤️

At :48 and 1:52 marks. Could just be me, but I don't notice her doing that with other videos. To me, he played well, but personally, for some reason I didn't like the sound of guitar. Don't know anything about different guitars, but the sounds and musicians makes a huge difference for me. I love the way Justin Johnson plays on the various guitars he plays and can recognize most of the different sounds he gets out of them.
