Kain McKenzie he had only just started the chennel while I was doing the course with him. Before that we would take photos of everything on the white board before he rubbed it out.
Wow , I have been considering going to school to be a welder for a couple years now. And looking at this it all seems so complicated. I have been working on my math skills , but to be honest Ive never been the best at math. I wonder if i could learn this..
This is stuff a mechanical engineer learns in their senior year of undergrad. A welder would be given the weld information needed to make it: weld length, weld leg height, and weld pitch (center to center distance between welds). Then they go make it.
So no need to calculate the normal and shear components of the force going through the area and comparing with normal as well as shear stress capacity?
Nice! Good to see something about science and engineering of welding and not just techniques
Thank you very much for the great and simple explanation I hope it's useful for everyone.
Great Video. Fantastic editing!
Great presentation and great editing!
Wow this is so clear, thanks for uploading
Great explanation,thank you
Nice explanation Sir
Very nice lecture sir. This type of teaching not doing in our college as you will do for us. Thank you very much.
Awesome 😊
thank you , for the lesson
Enjoy most of his lessons
Thank you
Channels like this guy's just cancel the existence of Uni teachers xD
fabulous
very good have you made one on lobster joints and pipe welding
superb thanks
Looks like I need to work on my math again, fantastic video!
Why didn't I find Moodlemech when I started my welding courses at TAFE.

stress is shear or tensile here in case of transverse fillet weld....?answer this please
Great video, in the UK we use z for leg length and a for the throat thickness.
1:37 I might be childish. but at least I'm happy

+Christina Parker This is mostly for engineers to calculate, not welders. Welders on the work site will be given the specifications.
I'm 2 years late, but a welder would almost never need to know this.

Please let's discuss this. I think you are right, my calculations aren't doing well with the video alone.

sir please explain me, about load caring capacity for L shaped plate and Filled weld ..........
For butt joints, the weld strength is 90% of the the weaker material, either the filler or base metal, correct?
marsdog No, it 90% of the base material. The filler, as I understand it, never stronger than the base material.
Can i have your course book in this video( pdf file), moodlemech ?
Please , is it possible to get a pdf version of the text book .
Thanks .
Can someone tell me why the stress strain formula uses the throat of the weld and not the height?
Freddy García because that's where it will break.
Can u show examples when the bracket is used to lift something or to hand something on it?
perhaps for a simple bracket which is a single web

谢谢你,给我的爱,今生今世我不忘怀
一首小芳送给你
can anyone tell me what class/subject this is? i'd like to learn more math about various weld strengths.
It's just structural engineering design, welded connections.
Douglas Spaeth the page he uses on the projector is learneasy.info.
why are we taking the cross section at the throat area for calculating stress?
3:30-4:02
Thanks understood now...
It the shortest length of the triangle(cross-section shape of the weld).
This book pdf link please
