back then, about 20 years ago, I thought that his play was boring because it seems like serve and volley so easy. but now I think I was so lucky to be able to watch him live play against Agassi, Chang, Safin...
That was cool. Pete Sampras was the best server to ever play the game of tennis. I became emotional with him. Pete Sampras the Great One. Stay safe and Bcool.
His emotion is pretty touching ; gee he could play ! Here in Melbourne, Australia, we often saw him at his very best (regularly in brutal and tough January heat). Great memories of a fabulous career.
Cuántas emociones contenidas, no pude evitar las lágrimas, serás por siempre un referente del tenis, una leyenda. Qué daría por retroceder en el tiempo y verte jugar nuevamente. Inolvidable Pete. Gracias por tantas emociones y alegrías. Feliz vida junto a tu hermosa familia ❤❤❤❤ Un abrazo desde 🇦🇷 👏👏👏👏👏👏
@@nicolofolgori4256I do not agree. For fast courts it is Sampras! As much as I am Adie hard fan of Djokovic he is not the first one There was one before Novak and thta is Pistol Pete Sampras. We do not have fast courts either in Wimbledon or US open anymore. I would love to see Novak countering the greatest serve of all time in fast courts and Federer competing with his aggressive brand of tennis against the super aggressive tennis of Sampras in all of their primes. In fast courts for me Pete is all time winner.
Pete made me love tennis because of his amazing talents and attitude when on the court. He's so beautiful to watch play - so precise, fluid and very calculated . . . without any air of arrogance.
Pete played such a beautiful and powerful type of tennis. Looking at his hardcourt matches, I miss how much bigger a role volleying used to have. Amazing ability at the net to anticipate the other's shot.
I admire Pete’s strength for speaking about Tim. The way he toughed it out there at the end was powerful. Even though I grew up on Fed and Rafa I always watched Pete’s documentaries and matches as a kid. I was amazed at how relatable of a guy he seemed to be; humble but hungry. Sure he’s #4 on the slams list but no doubt he’d give the big 3 trouble regardless of the surface in todays game. You’re a legend Pete, thank you 💯
This Legend's serve was like watching a beautiful form of ballet ❤ he would lift the foot, ball on the middle of the racket, one look at his opponent, then that beautiful backward bend...and wack the ball, which would usually end up being the Perfect Ace 🥎
It makes a person's heart full to see a man who loves the game of tennis so much, played with class, respected his opponents, and moved with such wonderful balance on grass and hard courts. A great thing about UA-cam videos we get the chance to continue to be in awe of amazing shot making and serving by this giant of the game.
What a winner. This man embodies success in life. God bless. Even though your competition days are over, you have plenty to offer our society. Keep that winning spirit until the God of our days calls you home.
I despised Pete Sampras because he beat every player I liked. Then he went on to marry my biggest crush. They hate gathered. Then time went by, and I grew to love and admire Pete and everything he brought to the game. He is the embodiment of all the characteristics of a player I value. Love you Pete Sampras!
That was such a beautiful speech by my all time favourite tennis player the great Pete Sampras! Love you Pete and thank you for all the memories. God bless you!

I know Pete is the most emotional tennis player in history. That is why he is my role model and the most beloved by tennis fans. He is the true champion of all time.
the best offensive player ever alongside McEnroe! for the new generation, from 2006 onwards, nobody plays a real offensive game as Sampras and other greats from the 90s and before
Ironic that Pete retrained young to get a one-handed backhand, due to advice. That probably cost him more slams and maybe the French Open, but on the other hand, it made him the first incredibly elegant tennis player, where everything looked like it was poetry in motion.Roger Federer, carried this even further, and I say the same with him, that it probably cost him more grand slams as a two-handed backhand is superior, on balance, it gives you far more control, which is on balance, better than the reach advantage you get with one hand. The only exception to this is Stan, who is probably the strongest tennis player to ever live, in terms of upper body, and can hit a harder and well controlled, one-handed backhand, more than any two-handed in history
Sampras was a class act, through and through,on and off the court. He carried himself with almost unmatched grace and competitive spirit & set up a bar for players like Federer,Nadal and Djokovic. They actually saw those 14 slams as the guide and eventually ended up competing against one another. Sampras's serve stays at the top as the most beautiful stroke in the history of the game. What a great memory watching him lift 2000 Wimbledon in front of his parents.
I think McEnroe's speech was the best. Very long, but people didn't mind. I couldn't quite understand the almost 90% strongly emotional content of Pete's speech. I would expect that as he mentioned his late coach, but it seemed every single thing he mentioned broke him emotinally. It's pretty odd.
No, it wasn't awkward at all. It was touching to see so much feeling coming from someone who was usually described as emotionless. Several years after Tim Gullikson's death, it still breaks him up. And what a great tribute to Paul Annacone. To me, Pete's tears show how deep his emotions run. No, he didn't let it all hang out on court, as some players do, he's a private person, but I love his sincerity and genuineness.
@@jerrysmith8436 Thanks, Jerry. I've been a tennis fan for decades now. Sampras remains the best player I've seen, and the epitome of sportsmanship and good conduct.

Its amazing to see such an admirable champion so vulnerable and shining the spotlight on his support system/family rather than just himself. Love it!
