- Techniques, moves, and knowledge of the rifle. Video starts at 10 seconds. The rifle is an M1903A3 30 Caliber Springfield Rifle. I made this video for my high school television production class and was in no way, shape, or form affiliated with the JROTC, so forgive me if there are mistakes with the terms and techniques. Semper Fidelis
Very nice work !
this is fantastic
dude i owe u big time u got me good enough to ware i am commander of my afjrotcs rifle team
Might not know a lot but the little that I do know changes my mind about joining it.
awesome!
I BET THAT IS A M1903 SPRINGFIELD RIFLE!
MY FAVORITE!
Thank You.
pretty darn useful...
Sweet thanks alot now im ready to drill.
we call the power spin a butterfly, the double a superfly and his helicopter we call double flick spinning.
The sound of the sling really has nothing to do with being able to "sell" a move to a judge. And the tightness of the sling doesn't make it sound any louder or softer. A very tight sling actually makes less noise. The trick to make your rifle sound better is loosening the handguard bands so when the handguard hits the stock it makes a sound. You can also make the sling sound better by positioning the sling clasp differently.
wow that free style looked like my little sisters batton lesson once you can spin the rifle like a USMC JROTC then we can think about calling that silent drill
so cool O.o
hey dude thankyou for posting this video. it has helped me very much and i can tell you put a lot of time and effort so i greatly appreciate you and what you stand for.
Semper Fi. I ship to Parris Island on June 27th.
thanx for breaking things down......now i can do the helicopter
Good luck, i'm starting drill tomorrow.
Exhibition with an M16 seems like it could be REALLY painful...
I've gotta try it. xD
ohhh... and Southeast High School rocks...that's where this was filmed.
hiz port arms is something called fancy spinning or rifle movements or watevr.....for example, when you go to order arms from fancy, you flick the rifle....it takes more endurance to do fancy, but it looks alot better
Haha cool video! I've done that for 20 years...but not in the army ;-D
Hey guys guess what. It's Exhibition. That means that they can call their moves whatever the hell they feel like calling them. There is NO book or anything out that that has a definitive name for each move. If they want to call a Ninja a Triple then they can. It's THEIR choice.
nice job, we call your "helicopter" a whip and our helicopter is the whip but right above your head you should try it.
The only things that keep me safe at night are drones and nukes.
This is only JROTC, I'll be military very soon. Anywho, the only rifles i've seen used for exhibition drill would be the classic m1, then the m1903a3, an m14, and i recently found out you can spin the m16. which is pretty bad ass.
aye aye master chief
seaman apts.
I love how he talked about bearing but his was terrible in the free spin. None the less, I couldn't do a single thing in this video so he's already better than me!
the top swivel is not a sling swivel, its a stacking swivel, the scond swivel from the top is a sling swivel
Good luck on the competition cadet
Fleet Cmdr. Lyetz
The demilitarized M14'smy rifle squad all weigh between 12 and 14 pounds. I realize that factory, the M14 weighs 10.75 to 11.5, but that is before an overzealous CO decides that filing down the firing pins is not enough of a demilitarization, and fills the barrels entirely with lead. From what I've heard from other JROTC and ROTC cadets, lot of different model rifles have been demilitarized this way, probably because it is so permanent.
-.- I can't do anything in here BUT it is pretty cool!
The names are different at different places. It does not mean this is wrong. But we call our "powerspins" singles and we usually stop them cold at port arms and not let them go down and then a "double" is just referred to as a aerial The helicopter is our doubles.
Okay where is your school??? because im not hating but seriously, all of the army schools ive competed with in a drill meet SUCK i dont wanna offend anyone but they all have so far. and you just blew them out of the water. You would be amazing for even our drill team and we've been area 6 champions for 5 years.. regardless man it was a while back but good job! made me smile :)
@sportscar50 can you make a video on how to march...about face ,left face, right face you know stuff like that
@sportscar50 DAYUUUMMM BURNNNNNNNN!!!! im in jrotc too its best you respect all branches exept the airforce. 'cause they all do things differently but tehy all get em done too.
@VuzeHelper --- some academies or rotc's do it differently. I was wondering the same thing but my friend told me. One of the reasons is to get more momentum. Try it I did and you can tell it makes a bit difference.
sooo.. i understand that this is part skill combined with a little creative ingenious to come up with your own moves... interesting... I am trying to lean how to do this myself.. i am looking for suggestions on where I can find more instruction media like this...
Hes at Trick Port
I used broom sticks when the bristles got old. Just cut off the head and go for it. Drill rifles are way to expensive nowadays.
That is same with me. I am in in Army JROTC nut I want to be a Marine. Oorah!!!
Bearibg is apperance and conduct
In my school it's left hand and return or right hand and the helicopter at my school Is called propeller. Anyways can you mane a video on how to spin it with one hand like you were doing
Well actually that's what I thought at first. untill I actually tried it. It's surprisinly comfortable. Hard, lol but comfortable.
Hmm interesting, I actually had a conversation with a man who was incarcerated for 3 years. Told me once he got his high school education he went into the marines, must be different requirements in different locations.
What you call wristbreakers we call butterflies
in case u didint notice this is not JROTC and it is definitly not navy
U guys just go independent drill. Those are the right teachers. Plus it's up to date and better learning techniques
Marines Blow.
Army's the way to do it if you want anything done to perfection.
@oliverguzman2010 where do you order your demilitarized rifles, my old jrotc unit was trying to find some and claim that they can t find em....is there a place like Glendale Parade store, or Vanguard, or what?
roger that
keep your fingers toghter at port arms other than that pretty good
@masterZN umm his pot arms is marine port arms, army just does it slanted to the left...
see whats funny is, everyone thinks this rifle is light and what not. its a 9 1/2 - 10 1/2lb rifle. its a daisy m1903 springfield by looks. ive just joined drill at my njrotc as a year 1 cadet (freshman).. i hope i get this good :)
we call the helicopter pop-ups and power spins are aerials
ok just some pointers (not being arrogant) close your fingers at port like at 2:25 and when your spinning cut away while the rifle is in the air
My school drills with M1s
We just call the power spin, singles, doubles, triples. etc, and the helicopter butterfly, dunno why im sharing this, but i was bored :P
Port is not vertical, the rifle is to be "paralel to your body" or at a forty fiveish angle, sort of like a sash
Thats Probably His Bearing You Freaking Fly Girl
We call the helicopter the double hand continuous
@helloachmed432 Yeah you tell them chief.
-Sea Cadet.
Now can you teach us how to spin an 18lb Demilitarized M-1 rifle? That would be useful. Thanks.
do they do this in the UK??? i would love to do it....
Hey man, my friends like Firehands96, and WindSpin20, my armed exhibition, armed platoon, and color guard(At school) uses the Daisy... If you go to Firehands96 account, and you look at his videos, he scored 5th place in all service nationals.... He through a bayonet on the end of his, and he does TONs of stuff.... Also watch the video from Daisy about their "Drill Rifle" it wouldn't be a REPLICA if it was different size, weight, specs and all. There 8 pounds 11 ounces, both same balance.
at my school ( not saying its correct or what ever) but we call helicopters butterflies
yes good ol double handed spins
the helicopter spin as he called would refer to a single handeded or double over the head when i was drilling
okay yea the butt and the stock are the same peice, Its a 1903, not a 1903A3, the A3 varient had the peep sight closer to the rear of the receiver, also usually came with a C style 'small of the stock' where you grip the weapon, somewhat similar to an M1 Garands stock. Also the top swivel with the cut out in the center is a stacking swivel, not a sling swivel, the sling swivel is the one attached to the stock, not the forstock. look up the drill movement STACK ARMS.
@masterZN Port arms at drill regulation would be wrong, in this case, it's exhibition.
how do u do the wrist movement from 5:01 to 5:04 its short but ive been wanting to learn how to do that
wierd. My units Helicopter is when your at Order Arms, and you throw it up over your head, and do a port spin into wrist-breaker.
sportscar50 well said
Thank you for posting this. Younger cadets in my corps would benefit a lot from this
@hellzfury112 The only thing that your "Force Recon" does is "Recon" the Rangers kicking ass.
Im middle school and im joining the LC club at school. Its like Rotc but for middle school, and we also do rifles. I'd say, that power spin is called a half spin, and port arms should be tilted slightly. Not too much or you'll be shooting someones head off.
In exhibition port arms can be straight up and down, and there is no specific names for spins
Thanks to this video, I finally built the confidence to do my double power spins :D
@sportscar50 kool whats the name of the drill team
@Blackbrood401 nope, mine was btr
No rifle weighs more than 10 pounds. And that would only apply to an M-14, and that's even a maybe. Daisies are manufactured to weigh exactly 8.5, and Demils are just a tab more or shy of 8.5, and that applies to M1s too.
dude you have to be good at spinning to teach people
What rank were u at the time i think I remember you I was in Charlie company I was a sfc
Power spin? Port spin. That's what we call it at least in my AFJROTC unit.
I was in a complete state of awe. Damn, I'm going to have to practice goddamn hard to achieve this level of difficulty.
@cedwards94 funny but thats how some schools do it
anyone know a website where i can buy a springfield like this?
@sportscar50 Yeah, i know its a master chief. Its a master chief petty officer. Im going to njrotc. Lol any advice?
@anyonejackpot13 lol thats funny cuz all the branches say that
it is the same rifle my jrotc class uses t is 8.5 pounds
very nice video, however, 1:50 thats a stacking ring not a sling swivel
hey what school are you from and do ypu guys go to nationals not army nationals but the nationals in daytona?
@PinkDemon661
the m1 is only a pound heavier...
and nice job (video) butthe marines is ALL its about, army rangers lead the way!
@BamRPDSTARS army=
Aint
Ready for
Marines
Yet
why have all that tape if your not even taping down the sling?
Now try to do the samurai
@BamRPDSTARS i have seen them yes they are good but not as sharp as marines i have respect for there team but the marines are better, but above all kings guard has the best drill team out of all of them the are perfect with every move
Why is the spinner doing 1 single (power spin or w/e) and then half of another?
are you left handed? or is there no left or right hand.
no smiling at the position of attention
is that a Daisy Rifle?
In my unit we call the power spin the "Port Spin" and "Reverse Port Spin" but we stick to the name of the Helicopter. We have one that we call the butterfly, Hawaiian punch, Fire knife, and Haft Spin. There also some other advanced spins in the there to like the propeller, or behind the back helicopter.
Is that a hollowed out rifle? or is it the real thing? 10 lbs?
