I as a dude used to have the same "oh I care about personality not looks" mentality when I was a teenager. But then I analyzed my own behaviour and realized that I was lying to myself to make myself feel like I was less shallow. What I actually meant when I said "I don't care about looks just personality" was that once a girl makes my minimum looks threshold, I don't care about looks, only personality. But if a girl didn't make my minimum looks threshold, I didn't even see her as an option. She was invisible to me from a relationship standpoint. So to give an example, if my minimum looks threshold is a 6 our of 10, and I have 3 girls, ones a 4, ones a 6 and ones an 8, I'll take whoever has the Better personality out of the 6 or the 8, but the 4 is never an option regardless of how good her personality is, at best, she's a friend. It's worth pointing out that this data for the first study was collected from 4 minute speed dating interactions. Hardly a fighting chance for personality to win over looks. I'm on board with the scientific approach but it would be useful to include an analysis of how the data was collected and analyzed and potential shortcomings (like you did in the later studies).
Hi Wheat I would be interested to hear if you have any views on transgenderism (both males who transition to female, and the men who are attracted to them)? It does not strike me as a conincidence that the exponential increase in the number of people identifying as transgender also matches the exponential increase in female hypergamy. The simplistic interpretation would be that men are unable to find girlfriends and instead choose to "become" the girlfriend as a coping mechanism. As for men who are attracted to transgender women, it would be a case of having no options with cisgender women and therefore having their biological instincts "tricked" by a male who superficially appears female. I would be interested in hear your take on this though because I don't feel satisfied that this is the only explanation.

I as a dude used to have the same "oh I care about personality not looks" mentality when I was a teenager. But then I analyzed my own behaviour and realized that I was lying to myself to make myself feel like I was less shallow.
What I actually meant when I said "I don't care about looks just personality" was that once a girl makes my minimum looks threshold, I don't care about looks, only personality. But if a girl didn't make my minimum looks threshold, I didn't even see her as an option. She was invisible to me from a relationship standpoint.
So to give an example, if my minimum looks threshold is a 6 our of 10, and I have 3 girls, ones a 4, ones a 6 and ones an 8, I'll take whoever has the Better personality out of the 6 or the 8, but the 4 is never an option regardless of how good her personality is, at best, she's a friend.
Many women think this exact way but I guess they lack the self awareness to figure it out. Or they know and don't want to expose themselves

Back in the day, my friends and I used hit the bars, clubs, etc. Women would just flock to my 8+ friends. It was effortless for them! I was about a 6.5. (7 if I had been hitting the gym). If it was a real number, I would often be taking the girl out to dinner and then get ghosted. This happened for years. When I had a girlfriend, I usually met her through someone I knew. In my 30's, I concentrated on my career and my well being. At 39, I met my attractive wife who is a decade younger than me. The tip survey was interesting for me. I am 22 now and I had a significant increase in looks when I turned 19 and noticed that women treated me differently. I have always had money since I was young and in high school I paid for dates and got a bmw to try to get girls,it worked sort of but I had to work hard to get girls attention. My experience of women (and I'm a mental health counselor, so I get into a lot of intimate conversations) is that they don't really know what makes their own sexuality work. This makes me think that it's possible that women are actually wired to NOT know what turns them on. I think that part of how human courtship works is that women present themselves as intermittently interested in men, so that they create a random intermittent reinforcement schedule to incentivize male resource provision. I have no data to support this, but it sure looks this way to me as my experience as an "average guy" is that women are not reliably interested in sex. I think that not being aware when they are turned on is part of female psychology, simply because it incentivizes this random intermittent reinforcement schedule in their relationships with their suitors.

Hi Wheat I would be interested to hear if you have any views on transgenderism (both males who transition to female, and the men who are attracted to them)? It does not strike me as a conincidence that the exponential increase in the number of people identifying as transgender also matches the exponential increase in female hypergamy. The simplistic interpretation would be that men are unable to find girlfriends and instead choose to "become" the girlfriend as a coping mechanism. As for men who are attracted to transgender women, it would be a case of having no options with cisgender women and therefore having their biological instincts "tricked" by a male who superficially appears female. I would be interested in hear your take on this though because I don't feel satisfied that this is the only explanation.

Re: The end about overweight women and thinner men. When I was in my senior years in high school in the mid 90s (and this was before you were born Wheat! ;-) ) I saw this quite frequently. I saw couples where the girl had a significantly higher BMI than her partner and, on some occasions was even obese. What's more, some of the guys they were dating, although not "chads" were facially actually decent looking normies with slender physiques. Not just average Joes. Now, I am talking about adolescents 25+ years ago in their mid-late teens ! Go figure these stats today !

“Stopping at crosswalks” has to be second! Only two out of the last ten times I have approached a crosswalk alone have the first cars in both directions stopped for me. But, all four of four times my wife walked with me did the primary cars stop in both directions.

The ambition thing is true. I remember upon discovering the blackpill I got depressed and lost all motivation to study in college. I used to sit in the front row of the amphitheater. Now I sit all the way back and a girl that showed interest no longer seem to respect me anymore. I used to do all the projects by myself and she thought highly of me because of that, but now when I got lazy and chose to pair up with a comrade of mine, she keeps asking my colleagues if they did all the work, if I'm lost etc. JFL coming from a 6 foot high tier normie.
