The revelation that they had to eat Falin's dragon parts actually blew my mind because of course they managed to tie it all back to food. The writing in Dungeon Meshi is so strongly focused around the concept of food it's actually insane.
19:38 regarding that chicken theory: It has been established that souls are lost when they don't have a body to return to. That were the stakes when they found Falin's skeletal remains. "Don't move her too much! The links to the soul separated as the body get more destroyed!"
So in the manga Namari talks with the Twins about how when you die in the dungeon, your soul remains tethered to your body. The more damaged your body is, the weaker the connection is. It's something like if you still have 12/13ths of your body left resurrection is almost garunteed, but any less than that the chance drops dramatically. But because of the curse of the dungeon, souls are not allowed to leave once they're free of their bodies. So the idea of absolutely destroying the body to loosen the souls tethers is sound, but it's more than just disintegrating the body, eating it is about making those "molecules" now part of a different creature, somehow switching "ownership" of the newly changed molecules.
Bacon and Eggs (the second half of the episode) was perfect for a season finale. Everyone's backstories are seemingly settled, side characters are on the verge of something interesting (Kabru, Namari, Shuro and the elves), and for the first time after Falin's resurrection, the gang finally has a clear 3-step goal to strive for, built up to through the last few episodes (eggs discussion, Izutsumi's body, Faligon's massacre, Golden Country and the Winged Lion). It brings back the elves and Kabru & co's situation, it shows what Thistle and Faligon might be up to, and let's emotions take over, reinvigorating the characters' and viewers' dedication to saving Falin anew.
Marcille hearing about Half-foot average lifespan and seeing the SPECTRE OF DEATH OF HER FRIENDS she was running from in her dream behind her is always so sad.
Incredibly satisfied to know that as soon as Jacob said "the Mad Mage is sleeping" and the image of Kronk popped into my head, that Caleb was right there as well.
So happy it's gonna continue! Trigger usually don't do sequels or adaptations but dunmeshi was my favorite new show, its gonna be a while but can't freakin' wait for season 2!
Marcille's face will always get me!!😂 Season 2 is gonna be crazy! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (Keep the aging between races in your backpocket along with Marcille's nightmare.)
Love the manga and very happy with how season 1 turned out, glad it was Trigger that got to adapt it. Looking forward to season 2, hope it's not too long of a wait.
Man, I've been abstaining rereading the manga for too long. I completely forget what the giant pot of pasta is. I can't wait. I really hope they give us a date soon!
the reason why they want to eat the dragon part is because they believe that trying to resurrect her with the dragon part still intact will just end up with her coming back as a chimera again. they want to be sure they wont bring back dragon falin
Well the painting (as i see it) was the past not an illusion of the past. Thats why the mad king knows him. He ate in the past then traveled to the present where he is still hungry
yea he didnt actually go to the past. i think this was more clear in the manga, but the way i understood it is that the mad mage literally just hangs out in the illusion paintings and acts out the things that already happened; most likely because his people dont trust him anymore and he probably has nostalgia for the past when delgal was still around. also as the name implies he's gone a bit insane, so the paintings are like his only tie to his past life when things were normal for him. plus the painting where he watches the king get poisoned probably helps him to remember his purpose by keeping the pain fresh
Welp. It's gone from "Let's eat, Falin." to "Let's eat Falin." XD
Can't wait for "Let's eat out Falin".
Marcille will finally get to eat Falin
As a manga reader I absolutely can’t wait for season 2. The second half of the story is absolutely insane!
Was this season really half the story? I wanted like 10 more seasons...
@@musicmucker yes its quite literally 50 chapters adapted out of 97
There's funny rumor that the author ended it at chapter 97 because Baldur's Gate 3 came out.
@@musicmucker i love dunmeshi but id die before i could go thru 10 seasons m8
@@PepperPersonal yeah, but it’s not true. There’s a lot of misconceptions about the author, as evidenced by the huge tantrum anitwitter had recently.
Start of season 1: lets save falin and eat the dragon!
End of season 1: lets eat the dragon and save falin!
Marcille wanted to eat her out but now she needs to eat her first.
Aaaah you're right!! Great catch!
And thus cannibalism has become an integral plot point. Can’t say I didn’t expect it tough
They'd been edging toward that line throughout the whole season.

"Eating is the sole privilege of the living."
@@SantosoWijaya the living consumes the dead, and then they die so they may be consumed for the living. I’m excited to see where the series goes.
I think this show is responsible for AT LEAST 15% of my recent desire to make actual food instead of eating spaghetti and ravioli for every dinner.
Senshi would be proud
Human digestive system is the strongest system in this magical story. I love this author so much.
anytime you think this show might be straying from the core premise a bit, it always circles back around to eating meals
"Eating is the sole privilege of the living" is so integral to the theme of the story that Kui serves us here.
I feel like Shuro is going to have a heart attack if he hears the plan.

Exactly, that's why after eating the dragon those pieces didn't somehow reconstruct themselves

6:46 is the Mouth of Truth (Bocca della Verità), a Roman relic that was popularized by fortune telling machines based on it. It's an irl joke.

"we'll need one more midsized group" sometimes the foreshadowing is so in your face lolol

Marcille, looking off wistfully: Let's eat, Faolin! Together!

Like a gnawing hunger!
OOH! Just found this show!
Glad YOURE watching! I love your attitudes when it comes to looking at fantasy settings.

Would be funny if this had a special opening with their transformed forms 😅
Thanks for the reaction for season 1! Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for season 2!
There is a teaser for season 2, which also was the announcement of it
well it's not about any souls, it's in-dungeon souls. The souls are attached to the dungeons.
5:41 it's the Sword of the Demon King 😆
Knowing what exactly happens, I'm so excited when we get to the end.
Great reaction!
Such a good season, can't wait for the next one!
Oh, my national statue!
This is going to end like a One Piece Arc: with a huge party!
I want the curry scene... And Marcille having the worst hangover ever... And the giant pot of dry pasta....
Man, I've been abstaining rereading the manga for too long. I completely forget what the giant pot of pasta is. I can't wait. I really hope they give us a date soon!
If you guys check the manga , there's a diagram of how falins chimera body works . Can't remember where it exactly is, tho
”君のためのパーティー”を開きましょう!
Obviously that isn’t actually going to be what happens, but bless their non-neurotypical brains for being able to come up with it.
Do The Fable next.

"What are you doing in my home videos!?" - The mad mage probably
No, the mad mage specifically says he saw Laois in the paintings.
@@BelBelle468 i must have missed that line.
