Great video of our not so distant past, my how we have changed since then! The Dad and son looking at 8118 engine..."I wonder if that would fit in the Commodore dad?" 4401 looked like the day it rolled out of Goodwin's shed at St Marys in 1957!
A fantastic day. My dad took me to that Delec open day I am sure. We have pictures in the family album from that day, distinctive too with the 3 streamline diesels around the turntable and some of 3801. There’s a photo of me on the front of 7301 painted in countrylink colors. I am unsure if this was the same day or another occasion. Dad loved those DELEC open days and I did too. I wish we could travel back in time when those things used to be allowed and it seemed like the world stood still. A different Australia and world for that matter. I was 5. Thanks for putting this video up.
Was an absolutely awesome day.
Sadly I only took still that day, so am pretty wrapped you have shared these memories
Freight Rail held some cracking open days at DELEC and Lithgow in the mid 90s.
Fantastic video, shame they can't really do open days anywhere these days at Loco depots anymore. Great variety of locos too
