I still get all teary watching this clip...I'm now not seeing the Sound of Music till August, we would have seen it on Friday but Connie was off all this week, so my mum decided she wanted to rebook. We went to see Evita so we still got to go to London in half term! ANYWAY...the Sound of Music title song that she sings at the end here is almost my favourite musical theatre song EVER, and Connie sings it so beautifully..definitely the right choice, even though I'm still waiting to see it
I love Connie she is a true inspiration, just fabulous U.K. is their Maria, just fabulous, i'm speechless!!! Connie has achieved so much, that has become a u.k. megastar!!!
Wow, I didn't see this serie (because it hasn't been on TV in Holland), but this Connie is very good! I tought she was playbacking on Julie Andrews, but then I realised she sung it herself! In holland we've got a show like this one, it's actually based on this. It's called 'Op zoek naar Evita' (which means 'Looking for Evita') and it's a show to choose a new Eva Perón in the musical Evita.
I will stand by Conie no matter what, I think she was perfect for the part, she put so much energy into everything and actually looks like she's enjoying herself all the time, because she's entertaining. That I love about her. Aoife was good, and perhaps she does do brilliantly on the West End, I don't know, but I know Connie will always be Maria for me. Last of all, LUCKY YOU! You got to see it TWICE! xxStellaxx
wow, i've been youtubing some of the stuff and there was so much talent! Connie is brilliant congratulations! I share the same dream as her, have been watching SOM since I was a baby in my grandparents house. I am so glad for her and that she got her dream!!
Helena is an amazing performer in her own right and we will surely see more of her, but Connie *is* the Maria of a new West End, and that's as it should be.
@Mitashade She is not dead. Indeed, she works more now, in her 70's, than she did when she was younger. I feel for her in that some doctors botched a surgery that left her without her amazing vocal range, but she has survived and has, obviously, moved on. Indeed, she was great as Von Trapp, Poppins, Lawrence, etc....and equally amazing as Victor/Victoria...but she is still with us, so do not miss her as she is always around, doing some work or another. Cheers!
OK, first of all YES THANK GOD CONNIE WON!!!!!! I loved Connie so much, I thought she was just fabulous, and when I went to see the Sound of Music on the West End, I can honestly say no one else could do what she does. She is PHENOMINAL!!! Does anyone have the second performance of Shout and Woman in Love, that they did on this show? I can't find it!! xxStellaxx
I wish they had put the judges and ALW on the spot like this in the ADWD final! They would have all said Lee! It makes it mor dramatic! Love Connie and so glad she won!! xx
You're probably right, sometimes shows like this aren't the best thing for some people, and I hope to hear of the others, I haven't followed them since they left the show, what have they done since? xxStellaxx
I loved Connie, and I'm thrilled that she's won. I liked Helena a lot too, but I think Connie was more suited to this part. I'd like to see Helena in Chicago or Cabaret, or something where she can be all glam and glitzy.
Very happy about the result, I've been wanting to go see the show for ages! But there are only a few months left... I thought it was a bit silly to ask the judges who their favourite was; even though the public seemed to favour Connie, what IF Helena had won? Wouldn't it be awkward for her to take on the role knowing Andrew had preferred Connie?
I’m so jealous that we people of North Americans never get our own version oh How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria. We got Grease: You’re the One That I Want, but it receive low ratings. Hypocrites!
I am so happy Connie won! What is wrong with all you people shes a fabulous actress, sings her arse off and has charmisma, i agree with wmzegan, what show where you watchin people!? Helena sounds so strained and dont even get me started on Siobhan
Have you seen both? Because I went to see Connie on the London Palladium, and she was absoultely AMAZING! Aoife may be good, but hwo do you know Connie isn't better? Besides, there was a reason Aoife was voted out. xxStellaxx
Ohhhh I have faith in the British public again! It would have been a travesty for any other girl to win (especially Siobhan, who frankly wasn't even the prettiest in the competition let alone the most talented). Hurrah for Connie, she absolutely deserves it.
Yes, Connie has talent, but she also had help in that she has the same sort of face as Julie Andrews and hair cut is similar and that s how people picture Maria. I think, Helena, who I feel had a finer voice, the fact that she was dark haired and such, worked against her. Though for me, she's prettier than Connie. Sometimes molds must be broken. Andrews will always be Maria, but a change of image is always good and Andrews would agree ie from Mary Poppins to drag queen in Victor/Victoria.
ive seen it three weeks ago its brillient i dont think the should have the lady from hollyoaks take her place she sounds rubbish. I wasnt that fond on connies acting but shes a great singer.
I love how gracious Helena is in this clip. I'm delighted they have both gone on to have musical careers.
This show has been literally in the back of my memory for YEARS
Me too. And I coul never find it lol. Until now

I am American and have enjoyed watching this show on BBC America the last few months.
I love Connie she is a true inspiration, just fabulous U.K. is their Maria, just fabulous, i'm speechless!!! Connie has achieved so much, that has become a u.k. megastar!!!
Next to Julie Andrews Connie is the best I have ever heard.
Guitarwizard55 totally agree
What a true professional, Connie you go girl

I loved this when it was being shown originally ❤
Anyone know where these women are today?
First time the show gains popularity, wait a few years, then re-air it to gain more money. How great is the television world

Helena should enter a guerning competition - she'd win hands down!

There can only one Maria - Julie Andrews.
I wish they had put the judges and ALW on the spot like this in the ADWD final! They would have all said Lee! It makes it mor dramatic! Love Connie and so glad she won!! xx

Not the 'Maria' I wanted to win, but Connie is SO TALENTED! totally deserving of being the winner!
Omg remember these shows? 😩😂
she's amazing!!!

The Winning Maria Von Trapp To Star In Andrew Lloyd Webber And David Ian’s 2006 West End Production Of The Sound Of Music Is Connie Fisher
Does sound like Julie Andre's bit think why she got part
Who Is Your Maria Von Trapp?
wait, was that barrowman!?
Connie was the obvious winner from like, Week One
I’m so jealous that we people of North Americans never get our own version oh How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria. We got Grease: You’re the One That I Want, but it receive low ratings. Hypocrites!
We had 'How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria' in Canada in 2008. It was excellent!
I am so happy Connie won! What is wrong with all you people shes a fabulous actress, sings her arse off and has charmisma, i agree with wmzegan, what show where you watchin people!? Helena sounds so strained and dont even get me started on Siobhan
It is easy to find someone with a good voice but an actress it is much difficult
Have you seen both? Because I went to see Connie on the London Palladium, and she was absoultely AMAZING! Aoife may be good, but hwo do you know Connie isn't better? Besides, there was a reason Aoife was voted out.

Jay Graham fucking rude :)
I never watched this show (I live in the US), but why did they call it Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical?
He was the producer.
ive seen it three weeks ago its brillient i dont think the should have the lady from hollyoaks take her place she sounds rubbish. I wasnt that fond on connies acting but shes a great singer.
Its like half way through the competition on BBC america, i just watched this to cheat
