As a kid, my mother used to take my brother and me to Mets games. This game was the last game she ever took us to. She suddenly passed away about a month later. Thank you so much for posting this !!!

This was during an incredible 17-3 run that put the Mets ahead in first place and having fans thinking about the World Series. However the Cubs owned them the rest of the season (4-10) after getting Sutcliffe and this was the difference maker.

Yeah, I remember the Cubs starting multiple brawls with the Mets that summer. Keith Moreland in particular. Amazing (no pun intended) how the Mets morphed into a bunch of badasses in ‘86 with all those fights and kicking everyone’s ass. Ray Knight forever!

The New York Mets went 9-3 against the Cincinnati Reds in 1984. They also went 9-3 against the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1984. They went 8-4 against the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves. 12-6 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. 1984 was the first year since 1973 the Mets started looking like a Team that could soon go to the Postseason in the next 2 years.

The 1976 team was a good team, finishing at 86-76 overall. That was the year that Dave Kingman was on a pace to possibly challenge the Babe Ruth/Roger Maris home run records when he broke his thumb diving for a ball in the outfield, which put him out of action for 6 weeks. Jerry Koosman won 21 games that season, Jon Matlack won 17 games, and Koosman, Matlack, and Tom Seaver all had ERA's under 3. It all fell apart with the bad start to the 1977 season, punctuated by the day in which both Tom Seaver and Dave Kingman were traded in June.

Berenyi had good stuff. Threw a heavy, hard ball.

I love seeing these classic WOR Mets Games...brings back good memories....Any chance of you uploading any WPIX Yankees games from the 1980s to 1990s in the near future?

I went to a lot of these games you could get 2 dollar tickets. If you didn't have it I saw guys roll a single dollar as they went through the turnstile. They once had a bunch of early rainouts, and had like 10 games in 6days.They announced if u showed the stubs u would get a "SPECIAL PRIZE FOR LLOYAL FANS".I turned my stubs n got the absolute cheapest too small generic white t shirt, that had a sloppy blue decal ironed half on with wrinkles.you could afford hot dogs and beers and parking.About 7 years ago parking was 30$ A beer like 9$ plus 1$ tip.If you have a family of four you have to finance a trip with a bank.I remember Dave Kingman hit flyballs into the parking. Lot and than later, race to his Ford Bronco, not signing one autograph. The good ol days. Thanks for posting.

@@rustykuntz94 So true,I once went to 16 stadium s in 3 weeks. That was a adventure.Dodger Stadium is a copy of she's but looks awesome.Wrigly n Fenway great and Baltimore although the oldest of the new ones still good place.I got in for free for game 7 in 86.I caught 2 balls in batting practice but not having a stub traded them to some brat that insisted I also include money. As I was going down the escalator I saw ticket stubs all over thrown out..Used to park by the junkyard for free.Once went into a door that said Press Club.Great seat behind home plate,I saw a guy walking down the aisle getting handshakes and signing autographs,I asked him to sign for me,he did and said you don't even knowwho I am.As he walked away I looked at his signature, and said Lou Brock? He just shook his head, and chuckled.Saw Ralph Kiner once come out one September night with a fur coat,he had gold loose bracelets, all he was missing was a hat n a cane.I once saw Lenny Dykstra leaving a blowout game in his yellow starion, before the game was over.Fun times,Take it easy.

the only thing that would make the better is a consistent naming format YYYY-MM-DD Team vs Team Type, then we can sort them. My dream is to get as many in year as possible to try and relive (or quite frankly see for the first time) Completely eliminating current PED baseball from my life : )

After being down sooooo long (since 1977) it felt good to be winning some games. Like a break in the clouds and sun was shining again on the NYM. Miss those days.
