For battery life, if you’re shooting RAW/cRAW turn off all Digital Lens Optimisation, peripheral illumination correction, etc as these only get applied to the jpeg preview and not to the RAW file, but do use up battery power!! 😃
I own R8. Never talk about batteries. It is not a problem. Every person using mirrorless always carry two or three extra battery. And this battery is enough for 250shot. Main problem is not having a budget F2.8 zoom lens with IS like EF Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 IS.
Regarding AF: You are using it wrong. 😉 Just use focus and recompose with tracking. Switch AF away from shutter button and map it to back button. This gives you the control of the AF back.
I would have bought one for my son's new real estate photography biz but the lack of dual card slots was the deal killer. Ended up getting a great deal on a gently use R6. I wish they could have factored in dual card slots even if the price had to be a little higher.
I have a question: I understand the typical solution is to buy a card with 2x the storage. My question is why do you prefer a dual card slot over a single? I only ask this for educational purposes, I've only ever used a dual card slot camera once (borrowed for a weekend), with only one slot used, and would like to understand the importance of it.
I've never heard about anyone actually needing 2 slots if they move pictures off the card as soon as possible. Also it breaks the #1 rule of backup as it doesn't save you from the device failing or corrupting the media. If it's really critical enough for 2 cards you should be shooting to an external device.
@@wildf1are If for some reason one card fails where you don't know until it's too late you have that backup. I literally had a card crack inserting into a laptop slot.
I made this video to help people on the fence about buying it and to help people who already own it with some of it’s downsides. Just because it’s not a pro camera doesn’t mean people shouldn’t be allowed to make videos about it.
@@troyflatland5299 well Kia’s aren’t really reliable, I wouldn’t say get a Ferrari instead but I would definitely recommend anything else. Like maybe a Toyota or a Chevy since you can get a lot of parts for cheaper if you live in the USA. Also the video isn’t about me trying to tell you not to buy it. It’s about some of its quirks and how to work around them.
Battery: if compare to EOS-RP, it improved a lot, can 100 shots photos more than RP. Focus: Do u tried the sport motion focus mode? or the Skateboard park too many people and R8 failed to focus on u.
I’ve been testing out all the auto focus settings since uploading this video. It works great 8 times out of ten, the other 2 it just gets a little confused on what to focus on but if you’re on top of it you can usually correct it and still get the shot
Looks like a neat camera but I'm still loving my 6D. I personally don't think mirrorless has made a big enough jump yet to justify the expense of a new camera for stills. Maybe for video?
I had a canon t8i before the R8 and biggest difference is its low light capabilities, filming 4k without a crop and having a log profile. Those were the specific reasons I upgraded for.I would definitely recommend sticking with what you got unless there’s a specific thing that you’re wanting to be better
I heard the R8 has the same bottom design as the RP so you can use the same vertical handgrip on it with the built in battery extension. This will give you the abilities to add an additional battery to increase your session time
So I have it..Let me tell you something that no one speaks about If you live where is 30° outside, it is useless !! Overheats in 5 min, On summer days forget it Battery life in CLOG mode lasts 15 min with constant ON-OFF ! You need 10 batteries, if you go on hike No IBIS so you need lenses with IS, that lenses cost 1000e a piece !! YOU can buy RF to EF mount, But you get 9 megapixels with that on camera sensor!! :D So AVOID IT

You’re welcome

is it inefficient to carry like 5 or 6 spare cards?

Saying don’t buy it is like saying don’t buy a Kia because Ferrari 🤡

Can i use r8 with powerbank ?
I still work with r8 ,you dont need pro feautures. Wtf is wrong with ppl. 😂
Completely agree with you. But I still feel like people should know about the cons and how to deal with them before spending $1500 on a camera

That’s a really good tip 👍🏻

Helping people get the most out of their camera is not complaining lol and you can just say you're jealous of my corona t-shirt I won't judge you :D
