Very interesting video. I subscribed a while back and have watched a lot of your other videos. Great content! From what I have seen so far, it seems there are a lot of mental games and sort of joking/jibing going on in your training sessions with the other fencers but in a manner that is a bit different than what we would call "shit talking" back home. I find this one of the most interesting aspects of your videos because in my opinion it conditions the way of fencing that we are seeing in these videos. There's a sort of paused carefully calculated center game as if they have too much respect for you. I would like to see someone like Ivan Lee or better yet a Curatoli or Ochiuzzi type in your training sessions to basically upset the balance. I think this would help you all. You and I fenced at a NAC in a pool some time back between 2009-2013. I remember beating you but I'll have to go through all my old fencing journals to remember the details. That said, Thanks for sharing this. I really like this content and please give us more insight into how shit talking is done in the land of the rising sun.

Interesting point to bring up. I’m very much old school and if you asked many US fencers I’ve trained with when I lived there, they would say I enjoyed trash talking with them. I enjoy that aspect of sports. I very much welcome it. I actually miss that part of the game now that I train in Japan. I’ve trained with Ivan Lee and that was one of the most fun practices I’ve had.
