I did not know you played Magic! You had a place in my heart already, but now even more. I have played Magic for twenty years now and RARELY have I seen a game which has astonished me so much as this game one. I am stunned, and very happy to see that you were, too. =)
One of the best games of magic this year along side the Kai bude overload against Arne which he let resolve so we could all enjoy a ton of sharks. Strixhaven championship is already a success
Kinda insane to watch Autumn push past those two Ultimatums game 1 and the Koma game 2, and then go on to win both games, so congratulations to them on the amazing set and their win!
Quite literally one of the best games of MTG that has ever been captured on camera. There’s a moment I think you can pick at any minute of this particular match where the veil of MTG is brought down from all the shiny expectations, unbalanced matchups, and the Top 8 decklists. It’s a crappy analogy, but Autumn here proves individually that a car is ONLY as good as its driver. Simply brilliant match. GGs to Vitor and Burchett, all around.
This is Magic at it's best! Cerebral, intense, every decision has stakes... It's not luck! A lesser player would have lost that first game. Just beautiful. In 500 years Magic scholars will be studying it as a brilliancy lol
exactly what is was thinking. i was questioning autumns decisions all the time, but in the end i would have lost a lot earlier and autumn won after 2 ultimatums! incredible stuff
Havent seen a player to the status of autumn in a while.. Shes only been playing like 5 years And shes won sooo much already.. Mad props for beating the best.
As an azorius blink player and fan, gotta say, Autumn played the deck masterfully. I'm currently working on a similar list in my arena decks, hard to get those rare wildcards though
The owner of the card gets the illusion, and Paulo had taken the archon and mazemind tome with tibalt, so Autumn got the tokens, since they owned the cards.
Such grindy control matches are what magic is for me. Ofcourse Aggro is a viable strategy. It just doesnt need this much amount of thinking and carefully piloting a deck. You just deploy your stuff and smash, hoping it will be enough most of the time.
have to agree. Not that it made the game any less enjoyable to watch, but it did feel a little unprofessional to me. On the other hand, I can't blame them for wanting the Sultimatum deck to lose. Still, on such a high professional level, commentators should try to stay away from bias as much as possible imo
@@hamlovesjesus For Autumn. I believe they both work for SCG in some capacity. You can hear references of "we" quite a bit, and excitement definitely on Autumn's side.
I believe she was worried about running down the clock too much by taking attacks she didn't feel would ultimately affect the outcome of the game. That's what it sounded/looked like, at least.

Has anyone noticed that no matter what format you bring it up in, as soon as you mention the lack of counterplay for control mechanics in standard, all control players suddenly have somewhere else to be? I guess they realize that their current success is based on a complete lack of skill (specifically the skill of adapting and adjusting when spells don't resolve as intended, which is what counterplay spells do), and the fact that WoTC has decided to eliminate counterplay for control mechanics for the past three years. Strange how control based decks (Temur Adventures, Sultai Nissa, Sultai Ultimatum, Rogues; which is 2/3 pure dimir control & 1/3 aggro mill creatures with an imbalanced amount of abilities for their mana cost) have dominated tier 1 for those three years isn't it? Counterspells, player targeted spells, non-targeted exile, forced sacrifice/discard, extra turns......what are the counterplay spell options aside from more counterspells and player targeted forced discard? Go ahead, I'll wait. You can skip the "play around those mechanics" argument; it doesn't hold water. Playing around means taking more turns and spending more mana, which equals going to late game where control decks get much stronger not weaker. Besides, if "playing around" worked so well, why are control based decks remaining tier 1 for so long?
Didn't Aaron just get completely roasted for identifying his opponent without knowing their pronoun? Am I mistaken or has Alias called Autumn "her" multiple times? I feel like there's a bit of double standard when it comes to verbiage in this community.
WTF are you even talking about? Autumn uses she/her or they/them pronouns, and all the casters will have been made aware of each competitor's pronouns before the game. Alias has also casted games with Autumn for multiple MPL events and will know exactly what pronoun to use.
When Paulo finally moves he should keep the wall mattress it’s part of his brand now.

Autumn Burchett is such an excellent player. How did she come away with a win there beats me. Well deserved!
Commentators clearly cheering for autumn, despite that, great game
yeah I noticed that too, I liked to think they were just trying to hype the underdog to kind of build up the hype and tension of the match.
Might also be the influence of the perspective that they and us as a viewer had
Yeah noticed that as well.
Its because it's pride month lol...but seriously 😐
Wizards are just virtue signalling sheep.
Is this really the only game of Autumn's that the channel uploaded? That's a shame
