Looks like a good find to me. My only concern is the made in China part. I’m leery of made in China imports to the USA. I guess I have a suspicious conspiracy mind.
It’s hard to get away from the China part. I called the company that Carolina cast-iron something like that and ask them where they got their metal from. I wanted to strictly USA based cast-iron and she admitted the metal is bought from China ship to North Carolina to where they make the cast-iron pot then. China has their foot and toe and everything too hard to get away from them.
Like Ms Lori said, she's been buying things from China most of her life, me too. It's nearly impossible to not. No sense of being leary now. It's a great find and supportive of the neighborhood business.
My mom gave a Wagoner frying pan when I moved out. I inherited the rest after she passed away. I’m the only one who knew how to use them, care for them and restore them. So glad I got them including a HUGE frying pan that’s a good 20 inches across minimum. I remember my mom frying chicken in for Sunday dinners The wagoner is old. I know it’s around 100 yrs.
I purchased six of these cast iron skillets from Family Dollar in November. I noticed they had a dark substance that was rubbing off when I washed them. I heated the skillet and poured sea salt in the skillet and poured a little oil in it and rubbed the inside of the skillet with an old dish towel and they have been perfect ever since. I gave five to family members and I use mine every day several times a day ❤
@leterry2331 why? Wanting to buy them is like saying 'here China...here's money to do your chemical germ warfare again'. If you get sick, you may not live to even enjoy them. I'm sure your friends and family want and need you around.

♥️ You understand & know how to care for cast iron, God bless you for sharing your knowledge, I’m 60+ yrs old & cast iron is the greatest item for cooking everything 🥰 most (not all) young people are into the “Nonstick “ easy, fast way of cooking & have no idea how cast iron can make cooking great, in & outside of home, weeks camping, or special ceremonies… Cast Iron will give great results ❤️ enjoy!!!
Hi from Toronto Canada. I'm a 64 year old single man. I was never taught how to cook and had to start by using cookbooks and now UA-cam which is how I found your channel (which I love by the way for more than just the cooking, it's great to see everything you talk about.) Anyway I've always bought those lousy pots and pans in places like your Dollar General and they never lasted long and were never that good. I was always scared of trying cast iron because of all sorts of things I heard about how difficult they were to look after. About six months ago I saw a number of cast iron pans in the local Dollar Store here. I bought a ten inch pan and two four or five inch pans. I use all of them all the time and have all sorts of uses for them. They are fine to look after and cook things better than any pan I've ever owned. Mine cost basically the same price as yours and work quite well and I use them all the time. I especially love making biscuits in them as it's better than the way I made them before with a greased pyrex dish and I make them all the time. Thanks for everything you do!
All of mine were handed down to me and I have plenty the ones I have bought made in the 🇺🇸 USA something seams wrong buying cast iron skillet not made here
The not washing cast iron with soap is because the old lye based soaps would strip the seasoning. Modern dish soaps like dawn doesn't strip off the seasoning. Just need to dry it immediately.
Isn't the selling point for Dawn that it cuts GREASE? I don't use modern dish soap so that it doesn't taste like soap... there's terrible ingredients plus *perfumes* that I don't want on my cast iron.
Dawn will stick to your drain pipes. The grease. Put a grease pot in the sink and then put some Dawn into it. Watch the grease run to the sides. It does the same inside of your pipes.
My mother and sisters would sing in the kitchen while hand-washing and drying the dishes. It is one of my fondest memories, since my mom and oldest sister have passed. Thanks for the great ideas. Keep them coming!
My grandma always cooked with cast iron she lived to be 96 years old, I cook with cast iron every day, I don’t trust non- stick skillets made with Teflon.
Please speed up the experience. You spent more time washing that pan than describing the food taste I cook always on cast iron.Indian products are fantastic also.
@@rodgermiddleton284UA-cam lets you choose the speed. Washing was part of the review. Just choose double speed and you can finish in half the time, or you can jump ahead
@@rodgermiddleton284 It's her video. If it's too slow for you, then either skip ahead past it, or don't watch. You complained 3 times. You sir, are rude.
I managed to get my Mom’s cast iron when she passed away. And I use them! The best thing was I over heard my 17 yr old granddaughter teaching her boyfriend how to wash the cast iron!
Same here about getting Mom's really well used and years of enjoyment already but I have a twelve inch deep sided cast iron skillet dedicated to cornbread and biscuits and one dedicated to fried chicken , pork chops and chicken fried steak...tastes like Mom's and that's the important part👍🏼
👵 hi MRS.Lori this is Granny Ingrid from Pennsylvania I just wanted to let yeah know in 1982 I purchased a box of three size Walmart cast iron skillets I paid at that time$ 10.00 and I still have them and they worked marvelous just wanted to share that with you, GOD BLESS YEAH..🙏✝️👍
I think in 1982 Walmart was still owned and ran by the original person but has since been handed down and all quality has gone way down but even for 1982 10.00 for 3 skillets was a killer deal.
Bought the same a few years ago. Eventually gave them to my nephew bec they were too heavy for one hand use. He cooks for his family and uses them all the time. I was surprised at his young age that he knew how to season them!
My mom always washed her skillets with dish soap. She dried them on the stove eye on high. Then she oiled them. I have them now. I want a skillet like this. 👍 God bless all here.
Thank you for a very informative video on a cast iron skillet. I was so impressed by how you said you love the Lord, gardening, families, etc. These are the really important things in life. I have 5 kids they all have a love and deep respect for the Lord. I'm an old retired guy now. I consider this the most important thing I ever taught them. The Lord greatly blessed them and they have wonderful great lives!
Thank you for your open and big heart. That's Christianity. Not the hate shed by so many so-called Christians. I love you and your channel. "Their families have to eat too!!!" 💜💜💜🙏🙏🙏
My Family Dollar doesn't carry this brand of cast iron at all. I went there last week and was impressed: They actually had real Lodge 9-inch skillets for $17. They also had the 10-inch Lodge square grill pan for $20. (I think they were Lodge irregulars with tiny flaws, which Lodge always sells at a discount.) I bought a 9-inch skillet because it's the perfect cornbread pan. 😊
Ms Lori!!!!! Oh my goondnesw you’re killing me with those burgers and when you toasted those buns I was ready to come sit down with yall and chow down! Many years ago my precious Mom and I were over in Hot Springs and we are from Bryant so it is a good hour from home. Well we were starving and couldn’t think of any place that sounded good to go eat. We both decided we wanted to come home and fix us a good home cooked burger with a toasted bun. You just can’t get any better. Watching you cook that delicious burger brought back such wonderful memories of her and oh how I miss my Mama! She would have enjoyed watching you and Mr Brown. Good country folk is all we are. Much love to you both. Thanks for bringing back memories.
Susan, I completely understand what you mean about how sometimes the only answer is a good home-cooked burger with all the fixins! We are from AR (but have lived in TX for about 40 years) originally. Not sure if that has something to do with it or not. It’s how we were raised though! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve run into my mama’s kitchen (even as a grown man visiting her) only to have her smile and say “oh, that’s just some onions I’m cooking up and I’m going to make burgers with all the fixins”! 😂 It tricks me every time! 😊 Anyway, yes, easily one of the most perfect meals ever. Take care!
After watching you video, I stopped at a family dollar about 20 miles away. I purchased a 12 inch cast iron skillet with 1.5 inch Sides. It would make a great pizza pan. I like the performance of this frying pan and plan to buy a second one and give it as a wedding gift.
Hi Ms. Laurie. I just handed down a chicken fryer cast iron skillet. It was a wedding present to my Grandmother from my Grandfather when they got married in 1920. It was given to my Mother, then to me and I have given it to my daughter. Love cast iron for sure. makes the best fried taters.
Thank you Mrs Lori for showing me this pan. I'm in my 70's and have health issues, is it heavy. I would like to get one for that price. Can I use bacon grease to help cooking meats and garlic and onions. My wife went crazy when you brought out the pickles. She went crazier when you said that the jar lasted 1 year in the fridge. She said that we will have pickles this summer. Thank you for making her so happy. Lots of love and blessings to you and your family.
This past summer I grew a small garden in my back yard. I got tons of cucumbers from 2 plants. I made refrigerator pickles, gave some to my kids, and still have enough to last till I grow my 2nd garden this year. I also grew tomatoes (and canned a lot of them), peppers, squash, and cherry tomatoes. The only thing I didn't can or freeze was the squash. Everyone who can needs to try to grow something in containers or the ground for yourself and families. I had a bumper crop last summer. I grew mine inside my 6 x 6 x6 dog pen. My dogs hate it, so I put it to good use. If you can't do a garden, buy extra canned goods and food and other necessities. I have read that we are going to have a massive food shortage this year. God Bless you all.
If you can go to the thrift store or flea market or garage sales, look for old cast iron and lift them up. Some of them are a lot lighter than new ones, and you might be able to use one of those.
My hubby bought me a set of Wagner's cast iron skillets from Walmart the first Christmas we shared as a married couple back in 1988. They're really good skillets, and I have treasured them for 35, almost 36 years. I have since collected many, many more cast iron skillets at garage sales, resale shops, antique stores, etc. My grown kids say that I have an obsession with cast iron!! 😂 I do have my favorites, but it is hard to pass one up! I always think about someone I could give it to. A couple of years ago, I passed a couple down to my daughter in law for Christmas as a last-minute gift bc I couldn't think of what else to get her, and she said those were her absolute favorite gift out of all the gifts she got. Little did she know that I had grabbed them up and boxed them that very Christmas morning before going to their house!! 😂 One of the ones I gave her had no markings on it, but it was shallow like the FD one you bought, and I just loved it for $25 but hadn't cooked on it before giving it to her, so one weekend when I was at their house, I decided to cook breakfast and grabbed that skillet for the bacon, and man oh man, was I regretting giving that skillet away! 😂 J/k That bacon cooked up so good, without sticking one bit! It was a good find! Thank you, Ms. Lori, for sharing your review, and now I'm off to make some homemade hamburgers with onions!! I could smell that all the way through my phone! 😂
Swine is unclean/not good for His people, says the LORD. Just a heads-up warning FYI. Churchianity teaches otherwise. I finally learned after great study, after being born again. Blessings in FOLLOWING CHRIST. 🙏🏻👣👣
This was so good to see. So many people are struggling financially just to buy food. I so appreciate you showing that you do not have to spend a lot to make good food from scratch. I have plenty of cast iron but I will be looking for some of these. What a nice gift you could make with one of these filled with some ingredients for a meal or some pantry staples.
Yep made in South Pittsburg Tn. I was born on top of the mountain. I go back to visit once or twice a year and usually go to the Lodge store. Beautiful country and people.
I've had a few cast iron skillets for about 47 years and I've always washed them with dish soap I put them on a burner to dry. Never have had a problem.
So have I. My cornbread skillet was given to me when I first married in 1977, and I have cast iron muffin rings that were my grandmother's, and are over 100 years old. Always just wash in Dawn.
Miss Lauri...Even a old rusty cast iron can be fixed..... I have used cast iron for 40 years....i wash my cast iron just like I wash the rest of my dishes....but didnt do that until the cast iron had been cooked in for years....now the cast iron keeps its seasoning well even after washing in soapy water!!! Thanks for the video.
I am 75 years old , been using cast iron all my life , I do not wash in soap and water , un till I have a smooth layer of black built up and no sticking , only then , I use a minimal amount of soap . And no steel wool .
Yes but mine says Lodge on the bottom. They have the one you're using too. The Lodge was more $ smaller skillet higher sides. But I've been using it a few weeks
Last week I was here in Oregon at Goodwill and I found a 10-inch Skillet that was for $13 and I bought it. I discovered that it has never been used and so I called a friend and they showed me how to season it. He's been cooking on cast iron for probably close to 60 years and he told me that if you want to get rust off or anything like that you don't want to expose it to any water, at any time and what he did showed me is to take some bacon grease and melt it first and then take some coarse salt and scrub it and get all the rust off of it.
I have and have used my great grandma's old old well over 100 yr old cast iron skillet and I have always washed with soap and water even make home-made fudge in it..I wash with soap and water then turn on burner on high then oil it every time..not a drop of rust on it and looks brand new and is like new at well over 100 yrs old...it came over in a covered wagon to the Oklahoma and Texas panhandle while cowboys and Indians roamed that same area...best fudge ever...not a drop of rust and it has been well used in well over 100yrs...ot has seen alot of life and meals in its days...even a cowboy and a few Indians...

My parents loved iron skillets and I never understood why when you could use nonstick Teflon. 😂 They gave my daughter some of their skillets years ago and she loved them. She wanted me to try it so she bought me one 3 yes ago for Christmas, it is a Lodge. I finally understood why they loved them. Last year she bought me a Wagner from 1906. I LOVE IT. She is obsessed with them and has a big collection of 100+ year old. She uses them daily. Thank you for sharing this!!!! God bless 😊
Cast iron is the way to cook. I don't know if you really get any iron from cooking in them. But you get a better flavor in whatever you're cooking. That's all I know.
I have found out about so many neat things and nice products that I never would have known about if it weren't for you tube reviews. I have so many things in my kitchen that have made cooking easier and more enjoyable. Before I buy most things, I check on you tube and see if my favorite creators have tried it and see what they have to say about it. This video for example..you're not going to find cast iron for twelve bucks (other than what she's showing here--new at least)@@morgancalvi6675
oh ok..I see what you're saying. It depends on a person's situation. For many people, cast iron is a nope--can't afford it--period--but if you want to try it, try a $12 skillet from family dollar. @@lynnclark4208
@@lynnclark4208 exactly...but if they're hiding something from the public, you aren't going to know the truth about the item unless it's from the person who made the product. The question to be asking yourself is 'WHY is it in a dollar store'? I LOVE potato skins. Why did I get DDT poisoning from ones bought in a dollar store? Because the potatoes were from a field sprayed with pesticides. Did the dollar store advertise that? No, they didn't know.
I love my cast iron. I have one that is over 100 years old. It was my grandmother's, and she would have been 141 yrs old. I have bought several at local flea markets cheap and refurbished them for my kids to set up their housekeeping. Now I need to go to Dollar General for one like yours. I like the depth on that one. Thank you for the video.
I & several of my children are dedicated to cast iron skillets & the care of them, traditional& better cooking than some metal ones tat have chemicals in their materials they are made from!
That skillet would be perfect to make your crazy crust pizza in. Goodcook pans and cooking utensils are very reasonable and have great ratings. I’ll have to try their cast iron skillet. Thank you for this review!
I'm 69 and use cast iron. I have my mother's cast iron that she got from her mother. It is mostly Lodge. I worked in an apartment complex and picked up lots of rusty cast iron that tenants left. Cleaned them up and still use them. I passed some to my kids and they love them.
I love my cast iron skillets, can't beat a pineapple upside down cake made in the iron skillet, it's the best!! Thank you for this video, it was very enjoyable just listening to you talk about your great find, and watching you make your supper. God Bless you!
They make the BEST pineapple upside down cake! I entered one of mine in a cake auction, and when our auctioneer read the note that it was cast iron baked, a man upped the bid $100 and walked out with it! He came up and told me he hadn't had one like it since his grandmother made them when he was a child and he was happy to pay for the memory (it was for a nonprofit too...win-win!)
My 12 inch skillet is so heavy my husband handles it! I might like to try this one for 12 dollars because it’s got to be lighter because of the shorter sides. Thank you Miss Lori!
I have a large lodge dutch oven I use on my wood stove down stairs. I take the lid down 1st, then the pan as a 2nd trip. Ingredients are already in basement cellar, so it works out.
Watching u cook , listening to your nurturing voice , takes me back in my life , when mom , & mamaw would cook using cast iron , I can smell and taste it in my mind , its hard for this Kentucky country not to cry . God bless you , blessed is the fruit of they hands.😁😇
The only time I bought a new iron skillet was 1973, right after I got married and I still have it. My others were found at garage sales for practically nothing. Love them all!
@@mhammer5 Indeed! My Aunt past away last May and none of her kids or sisters wanted any of her cast iron. She had some that were so old they just had numbers, no name and they were slick and very clean. I snatched them up and love them!! I have a Lodge Sportsman Grill and I saw a video where a person restored it removing the rust build up by soaking it in white vinegar for days. It did the job. @@donnaschubert4344
I got one for Christmas. It does make a really crispy crust. Even the premade crust is elevated by it. Doesn’t get soggy like it does on a regular cookie sheet.
I really like this idea of reviewing things you purchase. It’s just something a little different. The food in it sure looks delicious! 😋 I love my cast iron skillets.
I have one Lodge frying pan and the rest of mine are just whatever. Lol. One was made in Taiwan and the others...who knows. I've used cast iron forever. My Mom did, her Mom, her Grandmother, on and on. I've been married almost 50 years and have some I've used that whole time. I wash them, scrub them with steel wool, a stainless scrubber, I scrape stuck on food with a spatula. Mine have not been babied. They have been USED! I ❤ them! Thank you, Ms Lori. ❤🙂🌻

I buy my Lodge at Marshall's they always selling their products cast iron , from Skillets grill skillets from the largest to even the little bitty ones I buy them up they are cheap !!
I bought a 10 inch cast iron skillet from Aldi a few months ago. I used it for the first time a few weeks ago to make corn bread it worked fantastic! Washed up like a dream. I am going to go to family dollar and grab one of these❤️
Do you watch homesteading with the zimmerman's ? Ruth anne and Elvin take their skillets and they grind it smooth. And they said it's very much later plus it's very much more nonstick. I'm going to give it a try when I get around to grinding mine down
@laurieclarkson9180 It was way back in december ninth I believe was they refinished a brand new one for their daughter for her wedding coming up. They explained how to do it and why. Now I want my hubby to do it for my 2 pioneer woman pans
There is nothing better than cooking in cast iron. I'm a decedent of the Wagners on my moms side. But still have Lodge, walmart, and other brands. Have them for different recipes. I even bake with cast iron!! ❤
You want a good pineapple upside down cake , an iron skillet is the best ! Lodge ( you know what your getting) No filler’s! From China you don’t know. Lead base , they use so much of it . Look at all the recalls. Don’t jeopardize your health for a cheaper price. My background was nursing for years & I’ve seen lead poisoning in to many things. Be safe & be a wise shopper, be informed!
Thank you so much for showing us this. I've been eyeing these skillets for awhile but wasn't sure it would be any good. I'm definitely going to be getting one now. You're right about iron skillets being so expensive. I have had one on my Amazon wishlist for a good bit but it seems something else always takes precedent. I have never seen your videos before and I think the Good Lord brought me to your channel tonight. I live in Tennessee and I'm learning how to grow vegetables and to can. So I think I can learn a lot from watching you. Thank you again.
Surprised that I didn't see a corn stick pan on your wall. Wonder how that skillet would work with cornbread. Maybe you could do a follow up or just mention it in a later video. Loved the video and firsthand review.
I have cooked in cast iron all of my adult life, starting out with handed down from mother and grandmother. Then I guess you could call me a cast iron addict. Collected sets of vintage cast iron for 3 of my grand daughters . And even had a Dr tell my friend he should cook in cast iron to help with his low iron level. My little grandson wanted a rabbit hunting b'day party. And for me to bring my cast iron dutch ovens out to the woods and cook them. Fried rabbit, biscuits, gravy sure was tasty!
Please do more product reviews! I'm a great cook but I trust your expertise. Love love your videos and your calming demeanor. God bless you and Mr. Brown. Love from Alabama 🙏

Looks good to me Miss Lori!❤. I bought a box style cheese grater from Dollar General because I think someone borrowed my “good” one and didn’t return it. I have had it more than 3 years now and it works like a dream. I can’t even tell you how many blocks of cheese I’ve grated or heads of cabbage shredded in 3 years, but it’s a lot. It cleans up easier than my other one. I don’t think I even paid $5 dollars because it was in the bargain bin for clearance. I’m going to look for that skillet at our Family Dollar!
My gram lived working in the kitchen onthe farm after my Mom and her sister graduated High School in the city. Gram and Grandpa got a new house on the farm in 1959. I spent my summers learned how to cook and bake and 19:32 she always hummed or whistled while she cooked My gramps was a railroad engineer and he also Farmed. They were humble folks in Minnesota My gramps moved from Sweden as a boy and Gram was a school teacher.
Thanks for that “HOOT” and a “HOLLER” ! I have not heard that phrase since I was a little girl. My mom would say it ever now and then. ❤️ I’ m 73 years old now. Thank you, for putting a “smile” on my face. 😀
It looks like that skillet did a great job on the bacon and hamburger patties and onions. I think you got a great deal! I, too, am cautious and concerned about buying outside of the US. But if it's a high quality piece at a reasonable price then I say go for it! God bless you both! I've been gone a while (in the hospital) and missed y'all! Sending lots of love and prayers to y'all!❤🙏
I love hearing you hum! It's so soothing. Thank you so much for sharing. I am going to buy a cast iron from Family Dollar. I do need a second one. You are loved❤.
Yes, me too! Her humming made me feel so warm-hearted. I sorely miss my Family, and Miss Lori made me feel like I was "home" for a NewYorkMinute. There's alot of love In Her AND In Her Kitchen❤
I always put it on the stove to dry it , and when it is hot and I mean hot 🤷♀️I add a small dab of lard to keep it seasoned. I never leave and extra lard in it .
I love finding an old lumps of rust at a yard sale for a dollar. Next time I have a bed of coals in my wood stove, I lay it in for about 5 minutes, turn it over and let it go another 5 minutes. I really don't want it to get red, just super hot. I fish it out with my poker and let it cool on a pile of ashes; thankfully I have a concrete floor, so it's easy to do. When it's cool, the rust rubs off as dust. Wash, season and cook.
That would be a great skillet also for making scratch pizza in as well. The overall size and the depth of it would be perfect for that. Almost anything that you would grill..., pork chops, hamburgers, onions, steak, etc. would be great! Glad that it works well.... great price!
Love that your sharing ... and those burgers look yummy. That frying pan looks very useful. OMGracious ... those pickles just stole the show. I'm drooling all over my keyboard.
We've been using a 10 inch Wagner since our marriage in 1982, and recently wire brush cleaned it up. Shocked it turned copper color. Also got a cast iron griddle from Mom. Thanks for trying this out!
This is the one You Tube channel I can go to and feel just like I have a chair pulled up beside you, sipping tea and learning and just visiting. A true blessing.
I have a 7 inch skillet that was on clearance in the cooking section of JoAnns Crafts. Regular price was $12. I paid $3. For that price, I figured it was worth taking a chance on. And I have a 12 inch (with 3 inch sides) frying pan that I got for $5 at a garage sale! My burglar basher (aka tortilla pan) and 2 small cooking pots were left behind by previous tenants in a house we rented so they cost me nothing. And last summer I bought a cast iron abelskiver pan for $8 at an Amish thrift store.
Those hamburgers and onions look so good. I'm making vegetable soup. I have a few iron skillets handed down from my aunt. She may have gotten them from her mother. That would make them somewhere around 115 years old. I bought one to make cornbread in in the seventies probably at a discount store. I love it. I get really upset if someone cooks anything else in it. Don't get me started on one being left in the sink with water in it. I think you found a good deal. Happy cooking in it. I envy your collection of skillets.
I saw this when we went to Texas in February on our first trip in our RV. Needless to say I wasn't well prepared yet. We ran to the Family Dollar and grabbed one of these. It was a lifesaver. Thanks for the great tip.
I have my husband's mother's Griswold 12" cast iron skillet that she got when she got married in the 1920's. It's a cherished possession. She gave it to me when we got married in 1977. I wash it just like you do and it looks beautiful!
Love my cast Iron skillet. Rescued from Mom's garage! Also was given an old heavy cornbread pan. Looks like ears of corn. Those hamburgers look delicious!

So glad to see a bacon grease saver!
Yes Bacon grease is liquid gold
Thanks for sharing that, that's awesome 👌
Them burgers look delicious would be great on white bread
All of mine were handed down to me and I have plenty the ones I have bought made in the 🇺🇸 USA something seams wrong buying cast iron skillet not made here
OMG... CHINA MADE??? NO NO NO.
SUPPORTING CHINA?
You can get a great "Lodge iron skillet " at a very good price and support America and not CHEAP QUALITY CHINA MADE IRON PRODUCTS
The not washing cast iron with soap is because the old lye based soaps would strip the seasoning. Modern dish soaps like dawn doesn't strip off the seasoning. Just need to dry it immediately.
Thank you for that!
Isn't the selling point for Dawn that it cuts GREASE? I don't use modern dish soap so that it doesn't taste like soap... there's terrible ingredients plus *perfumes* that I don't want on my cast iron.
great points! @@sing2me
Exactly!
Dawn will stick to your drain pipes. The grease. Put a grease pot in the sink and then put some Dawn into it. Watch the grease run to the sides. It does the same inside of your pipes.
EVEN AT MY AGE I STILL MISS HEARING MY MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHERS HUMMING AND SINGING IN THE KITCHEN , LOVE YOUR CAST IRON COLLECTION . 🥰🥰🥰
My mother and sisters would sing in the kitchen while hand-washing and drying the dishes. It is one of my fondest memories, since my mom and oldest sister have passed. Thanks for the great ideas. Keep them coming!
Makes you smile, doesn't it?
You got that right ❤❤❤
My grandma always cooked with cast iron she lived to be 96 years old, I cook with cast iron every day, I don’t trust non- stick skillets made with Teflon.
Very interesting to watch but needs editing as much too slow to watch.Chinese are excellent at all cast iron products!
Come on ; how did the cooking go n how tasty?
Please speed up the experience. You spent more time washing that pan than describing the food taste I cook always on cast iron.Indian products are fantastic also.
@@rodgermiddleton284UA-cam lets you choose the speed. Washing was part of the review. Just choose double speed and you can finish in half the time, or you can jump ahead
@@rodgermiddleton284 It's her video. If it's too slow for you, then either skip ahead past it, or don't watch. You complained 3 times. You sir, are rude.
I loved hearing the Grandfather clock in the background. It’s so comforting.💜 Thanks for sharing!
I managed to get my Mom’s cast iron when she passed away. And I use them! The best thing was I over heard my 17 yr old granddaughter teaching her boyfriend how to wash the cast iron!
Everyone needs to learn that
Same here about getting Mom's really well used and years of enjoyment already but I have a twelve inch deep sided cast iron skillet dedicated to cornbread and biscuits and one dedicated to fried chicken , pork chops and chicken fried steak...tastes like Mom's and that's the important part👍🏼

@@lovelight9164 Quality for just about everything has gone downhill. Try to find a good towel that 1/2 of it doesn't disappear into lint once washed.
Bought the same a few years ago. Eventually gave them to my nephew bec they were too heavy for one hand use.
He cooks for his family and uses them all the time.
I was surprised at his young age that he knew how to season them!
@@lovelight9164 true and that's when everything was made in the U.S., supposedly.
I was born in 82😂
My mom always washed her skillets with dish soap. She dried them on the stove eye on high. Then she oiled them. I have them now. I want a skillet like this. 👍 God bless all here.
Same here. I wash them and dry on high, once dry oil ( I use a paper towel where I drained my bacon) , then wipe excess oil away .
This is exactly how I've done mine for 48 yrs! 😊
Same
That is the way I have always done and I am 73.
Yup, that's how it's done!
The Lord greatly blessed them and they have wonderful great lives!
thank you
One for the algorithm because you remind me about what's right with America.
Thank you for your open and big heart. That's Christianity. Not the hate shed by so many so-called Christians. I love you and your channel.
"Their families have to eat too!!!" 💜💜💜🙏🙏🙏
WOW...Christianity bashing , what does that say about you. Christians are not bad people but you will find deceivers in every faith or group. ☹️
Good for you enjoy, I love to make tarts ,quiche and pies
NEVER BOUGHT ONE, ALL I HAVE ARE HAND ME DOWN CAST IRON AND I WOULD NOT GIVE ONE UP FOR ANYTHING.
MY CONCERN IS THE RISE IN THE CENTER
We still use my mother-in-law’s cast iron skillets and Dutch oven. All of them are Wagner’s.
What was that spread on the buns?
My Wagner is 65 years old. It’s sleek.
Lots of love and blessings to you and your family.
cast iron is a lot heavier than regular pans, but they cook great, and yes, you can use bacon grease or whatever oil you like.
I know my Griswold skillet is really heavy and I’m probably going to pass it on to one of my nieces, I’m ate up with arthritis in my hands& shoulders.
Check out carbon steel pans, they are very light and function like a stainless pan but just being made of iron.
I love your videos Miss Lori. You are so calm and kind, also non judgmental and helpful as you can be. Blessings be upon you and Mr. Brown.
I do have my favorites, but it is hard to pass one up!
One of the ones I gave her had no markings on it, but it was shallow like the FD one you bought, and I just loved it for $25 but hadn't cooked on it before giving it to her, so one weekend when I was at their house, I decided to cook breakfast and grabbed that skillet for the bacon, and man oh man, was I regretting giving that skillet away! 😂 J/k
That bacon cooked up so good, without sticking one bit! It was a good find!
Thank you, Ms. Lori, for sharing your review, and now I'm off to make some homemade hamburgers with onions!! I could smell that all the way through my phone! 😂
Wow, Thank you!
That would be a great gift idea.
I just love your channel. You are truly a kind and sweet lady.
Wonderful idea.
I ❤ cast iron Lodge brand the best. Bought many pieces from Walmart. I think they're very well priced. Last for generations. Made in TN, I believe.
Yes, they sure are.
Where do they get their iron to make the skillets and pots with?
It is 100@ American made. The iron is not from China. @@zelmanewell5486
Lodge brand has their own foundry.....everything USA
Yep made in South Pittsburg Tn. I was born on top of the mountain. I go back to visit once or twice a year and usually go to the Lodge store. Beautiful country and people.
I would say yes ..for $12.00 dollars.
I've had a few cast iron skillets for about 47 years and I've always washed them with dish soap I put them on a burner to dry. Never have had a problem.
Same here. 😊
You have a beautiful collection of cast iron! No wonder you were anxious to add your good find!
So once you keep it the grease and salt, do you then rinse it with water and air dry?
I love the depth of that skillet especially for thinner skillet of cornbread! ❤
Great for pizza crust too I bet!
That depth appealed to me too. The price was really great.
My mom's "hoecake": hot water cornbread.
I was trying to think what you could cook in it and cornbread is for sure a good thing! I think anything fried will make a complete mess though!

Cast iron is the way to cook. I don't know if you really get any iron from cooking in them. But you get a better flavor in whatever you're cooking. That's all I know.
I LOVE product reviews! Especially kitchen stuff!
🤔...yes, you may love product reviews...but I'm questioning why.
Because alot of us ( just because it came from family dollar, dollar general) wonder is it cheap quality? Is it worth buying?
I have found out about so many neat things and nice products that I never would have known about if it weren't for you tube reviews. I have so many things in my kitchen that have made cooking easier and more enjoyable. Before I buy most things, I check on you tube and see if my favorite creators have tried it and see what they have to say about it. oh ok..I see what you're saying.
Because the potatoes were from a field sprayed with pesticides. Did the dollar store advertise that? No, they didn't know.

But if it's a high quality piece at a reasonable price then I say go for it! God bless you both! I've been gone a while (in the hospital) and missed y'all! Sending lots of love and prayers to y'all!❤🙏
Hope you are feeling well, now. Bless You! 💙☮️🙏
Great video. Thanks 😊
That's great if you have a wood stove. I did that years ago on a Bar-B-Q grill with the hot coals. Worked fine.
Me too
That would be a great skillet also for making scratch pizza in as well.
That's such a nice homey feeling ❤
I have brought skillets at Family Dollar before for camping. Used on open fire. Still got my 15yr old skillet. Got my grandma, and mamas too.❤❤❤
Thank you for showing us this skillet
Your burger looked delicious! The skilet worked very well, good purchase 🤩
Thank you so much for sharing because yes ma'am every penny counts. Hope Mr Brown is injoying retirement and pray blessings over you and your family ❤
I love your videos Miss Lori. ♥️ thank you for sharing.
I do too!, love her accent💜
@@DL-xo7fn When she speaks it's so calming!
@@carolynandjerry5184 yes her voice is!
Mrs. Lori, I LOVED your show and tell video! Please do more! Appreciate you and Mr. Brown. God bless you and those you love!
I have 6 of those that we use in our outdoor wood fired oven. They are a very good deal. They make wonderful pizza and breads.
Cool collection of 'hang 'em ups'---am jealous of those cool old loaf-pans.
My burgler basher!....🤣😂😅🥰 Bless your heart, I laughed and laughed!
I received an abelskiver skillet for my birthday last year to add to my collection. I like to make them but love to eat them!
I think that would be great for egg dishes like omelets or even quiches
I enjoyed that video, thanks for the tip's on keeping it clean and looking good.
Bless UP, thanks for the review 😊 thrift stores are ok sometimes
Love my cast Iron skillet. Rescued from Mom's garage! Also was given an old heavy cornbread pan. Looks like ears of corn. Those hamburgers look delicious!
I can still remember when I was growing up my mother had two cast iron skillets, she used them all the time. I also have two that I have had for years that I use regularly. I love cast iron pans of any type.
This was very good & helpful, thanks !
