I've hiked up tuckermans it's such a beautiful place to visit my grandfather was a Forrest ranger and loved the mountains off NH glad you guys had fun!
Great video! I skied Hillman’s just a few weeks before this. Hiked up in my new boots just to see how they felt and was rewarded w far better skiing than I expected. Such a delight to steal a few late season turns after you think you’re all done.
We went up in December and ended up just doing Sherburne’s Trail. We wanted to do Hillman’s Highway and the snow fields. Weather wasn’t horrible, but no visibility into the ravine at all so we just snowboarded down Sherb’s.
Hey! I don't think the 106 is overkill, I definitely wouldn't go smaller than 100 for a backcountry one ski quiver. Most of the time you're going to be skiing pretty soft snow, so the float is nice on a wider ski. Hope that helps!
No I didn't, I almost never do, unless the risk of a ski coming off is greater than the risk of a torn ACL. The only time I locked my toes was when I was skiing Right Gully in Tuckerman Ravine in the middle of winter, the chute was a really hard wind slab and barely edgeable, so I locked my toes
Skied Tuckermans 50years ago several times glad to see folks still having fun
Definitely! Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate it!

Nice! I’m scoping out a touring setup to get in on this. With mid-season VT and NH tours in mind, Do you think that 106 is overkill?
