Rory Gallagher who sadly also died much too young in 1995. I wish I met him personally, I am grateful for having seen him live a couple of times.
He surely was one of a kind as well.
Michael - you're fast climbing in my chart of folk I'd just love to meet one day. Your simple humanity comes across in volumes, and your playing is a testament to the never-ending quest, that I think all would-be musicians, and particularly those of us who once picked up the freedom inspiring instrument that is the guitar, hold dear - that we might play what we feel, and may not be able to express otherwise.

I’ve always said my Rock Trilogy is: Jimi, Jeff Beck and EVH. Three geniuses who broke the sound barrier.
I said today to a co-worker that those three are the guitarists who defined their era. Spot on.
Steve Jackson the cool thing is that Jeff Beck still keeps breaking the sound barrier 55 years after he came on the scene with The Yardbirds. Amazing!

Mr. Lemmo, you sir are a genuinely decent and gracious man. Soft tones today with a personal tribute to EVH show your genuine love for music and appreciation for those who changed music for all us. Well done friend.
Your kindness, humility and thoughtfulness of others certainly comes out in your playing. You are among the few carrying the torch for rock music yet your innovative ideas go far beyond into jazz and eclectic forms that few guitars can stretch to. We need examples of the era to pay tribute to those who paved the way but you seem to add another dimension to the realm of possibilities the guitar is capable of. Thanks for your daily lessons on GOTD.
What I love even more than Eddie and all the joy I got from him in my teens back in those sepia toned days, is that you loved him and in a strange way, he brought you to us. Life doesn’t always go in the trajectory you would want but there is always a silver lining. If I was some big wig businessman, or the struggling archaeologist which I started my short lived career as(Raiders was A romance , I’ve yet to shake to this day) I would have missed the gifts that living with illness can teach. Michael, your version of Normans Rare Guitars is the one show that I look forward to everyday so thank you for what you do for me....much like having a great friend show up and say hello. Thank you Michael, Jen and Norm for what you for me on a mountainside in Montana. I love me some Lemmo. You were the first person I thought of when I heard the news. You were the connection from my 12 year old self to my 50...something year old self. The second thing I did was put on the his first record....and it was

I was hoping for Eight Miles High. Beyond that, we are all sad about Eddie. He was the first real innovator on electric guitar since Hendrix. They both influenced half a century of players.

Ripster 87 I am the proud owner of #97 of only 1OOO Rickenbacker 66O Tom Petty 12 string.... it is an exact replica of the prototype one off 12 string tom is posing with on DAMN THE TORPEDOES....... That particular guitar actually belongs to Mike Campbell..... mine was built in 1991....

Mike, I played in a rock band back in the early to late sixties. We had Thunderbird lead, a second guitar who played Rickenbacker 6 & 12 who by the way was really from Liverpool. We
were so fortunate to have the Ric.12
But I have been following you for a couple of years on Norms and have become to appreciate your style and how you handle the Rick 12. Thank you for such Great Job on the 360-12 !!!

Ya know what they say about 12 strings. you spend half the time tuning up and the other half playing out of tune. I had one of these back in the 80's. Nothing sounds like a Rick!
something about a 12 string I just luv , I could listen to one all day , especially played by someone as good as Lemmo , great tone on this one , sounds like bells , wasn't quite loud enough I think to get the classic rick sound , but the last song was closer , anyway it sounds great , looks very cool , and well played , thanks Michael , thanks Jen. Still curious whatever happened to Joel , if Masmo??? is the new tech.

At 1st when he said it was tuned to 5ths I thought he meant Fripp's "new standard" tuning. Not the normal octave strings. lol

Can someone give me a rundown on how to tune a 12 string to 5ths?
Do you use a standard set of strings? Do you tune the octave string up or down?
You ought to go over the tuning by 5th more. First time I've heard about for a 12 string guitar. I guess you will use the same old chords since the thicker string stay the same? That could be a whole video.
Anyone else think that first funky riff sounds a bit like if A Perfect Circle’s ‘3 Libras’ went funky?

What does “WB” stand for? White Binding?
With (top) Binding. The usual 360 body style is unbound on top. This is a repro of the early style, also used on the 330 model, from the early/mid 1960s.
Early body style but had the high gain pickups and R tailpiece. The 360 V64 had the same body binding but had toasters and trapeze tailpiece like the Harrison model. Two different guitars, both discontinued by Rickenbacker after 2000.
Isn’t that a 330 12?
Nope. A 330/12 has dot inlays on the fingerboard and a mono output.
No. 360 WB (for White Binding) or OS (for Old Style. Both designations were used depending on the year. Best-looking Rickenbackers ever, except for the 381, which it resembles.
Two B's or not to be
I truly don’t wish to be disrespectful, but Michael Lemmo needs to learn how to play guitar in conventional tuning. I’m sure he could learn how. I don’t mean this as a disparagement. I’m sure Mr. Lemmo is a fine young man, but he needs to expand his playing abilities.
All who can play guitar can always stand to improve our playing, myself included.
