Don't get me wrong. I'm super happy that this was nominated for the Grammy for Best Alternative Rock Album. It absolutely deserves that honor.
But it not being nominated for Album of the Year is an absolute crime.
It has been years where I have enjoyed a new album of any genre as much as I did this album. It is truly an incredible work of art from Halsey, Reznor and Ross.

Agreed. 1000% she has the recipe and if she wanted to be an Ariana grande, Demi, whatever. She could. She is so god damn original. The way she speaks. Her writing style. It’s relatable and all
The same time so enchanting and magical.

When she says "I hurt myself to make sure I exist" and "I need someone to tell me how to feel" those are references to Nine Inch Nails, who produced the album!
In their 1994 album The Downward Spiral, they say in the song Hurt, "I hurt myself today to see if I still feel", and in the song I Do Not Want This "Don't you tell me how I feel, you don't know just how I feel"

I’ve been trying to understand the meaning of this song ever since it came out and I think I finally managed. I think this song is a metaphor to fame. Fame is fleeting; you become famous, remain famous for a substantial amount of years, and then people eventually forget all about you and all that’s left is the money and the memories. “People disappear here” refers to that idea and this is why this lyric video features a clock. Having figured this out, this song means so much more to me now… I love insightful and deep lyrics as is the case in this song. I wish this was on the original tracklist but it being on the deluxe makes it even more special and subtle 🤍
