I just bought one the other day! Before buying him I did request the guys at the fish store feed him before purchase. He ate, in small pecks though, taking his time. Thanks for sharing this net trick tactic I’ll have to give it a try 😊
Hi Anton how big is this tank by the way what are its dimensions in length, width and height? Awesome tank! And Merry Christmas xD Question about your One Spot Foxface is it more rare than the Foxface Lo? What about Tomini Tangs are they rare in the Netherlands? And I don’t know how long you’ve had all your fish but do fish really get to their maximum sizes as seen on FishBase? It says Copperband can get to 20cm, Spotted Drum 25cm, Fox Face 25cm, Tomini 16cm etc.
With the two dragonface pipe fish, the two mandarins, the two wrasse, and the sand sifting goby, do you have any populations of amphipods or copepods? I know that populations of both can be very beneficial when keeping mandarins.
I'm sure there are enough amphi/copepods in there because I've kept them all alive for over a year and they look fat and healthy, but I don't add them specifically. I do add frozen copepods twice/thrice week.
Beautiful tank! I'm new to the hobby, can anyone tell me the name of the black and white fish with the high dorsal fin at 7:10 ? Also, I thought you couldn't keep pipefish and seahorses with most other fish? I love that mandarin, it's one of, if not my favorite fish.
How often are you feeding the anthias? Also, I noticed that you keep your return pump and gyre running during feeding. Do you ever use a feed mode or turn them off to allow the food t stay in the water column longer?
I have got one for 2 years and a half.... I feed it two times at day mysis shrimp and Formula One from Ocean Nutrition. I am not sure is it eats bristle worms too. Ive seen him out of the rocks a few times and it makes a loud sound. I still cant catch what it eas when makes that noise.
Haha yeah the sounds is very familiar, I hear it as well when mine eats stuff, even when it's picking it from the glass. To me it sounds like the sound of it's beak clapping together haha
Hi Dutch Reefer love your videos. I have an aiptasia break out in my 850 litre reef tank and was wondering if getting a copperband would be too risky considering I have a large aggressive sohal tang.
It truly is a remarkable fish to keep in your aquarium. For me the key success factors are: Don't keep too much "busy" fish, this one enjoys a bit of calmness. But also make sure it eats well and enough, it's easily underfed when you don't feed enough or if it doesn't properly eat.
You should definitely be proud of your job, man! That's not a common achievement. Your whole tank is a dream. When I'll be in paradise, I'll have a similar tank. With ornate and raccoon butterflyfishes NOT eating corals, a peaceful trigger, and a huge grouper who never takes a shit......
Well I am a little of course :-)... Haha yeah that does sound like a dream, having a grouper and a trigger is something I want as well, but not in this tank :-)
Care is not easy, they can be hard to feed. they like small shrimp like mysis and krill! yes you need a tank that has been running for a while since they are very sensitive fish.
Wow! Beautiful display! That’s a pretty wide diversity of fish you have collected!! Impressive. Thank you for the high def video!
I could watch your fish and corals all day... Beautiful
I should make a 24h long video so you can put it on your TV screensaver or something haha!
Your tank looks so nice! Keep up the great work!
H.l8 oklkkk(kk
Wow. This is by far my favourite reef tank! I love the corals and the livestock.
I was already blown away by your livestock. - Then the pipefish turned up! - Wow
Haha thanks, and yeah those were awesome creatures!!
That jack knife in the reef is awesome
Your tank looks so nice

I've just found your channel and really like the content. Subscribed from New Zealand. :)
beautiful tank dude, great to hear your experience with this fish too, appreciate it
Very nice video. Specially the CBB is beautiful. Any special reason for using thick grained sand.
Thanks! Yeah I like it that way, and it builds up less dirt over time!
Best tank on youtube! So clean and structured
That's very kind of you, thanks!

Dude your tank is insane. WOW!! One of the nicest I have seen.
Prachtige vlindervissen! Its really good to see one doing so well.
Dankjewel Michael!
Amazing tank! Great work sir!
The copper band is a great fish, YES it likes aiptasia and infortunatelly father dusters too. I agree!
I will follow along for this. Love your tank! *Subscribed*
Welcome, and thanks!
Great video...I think the main key for its long term success is not having large boisterous tangs in the same tank with it. Subscribed
Thanks for the sub! And indeed, calm(er) fish in the tank definitely does help :)
Just love your tank
I will now be looking forward to Fridays for one more reason!
Haha that's great to hear Tyler :D
Nice ! Until next Friday 😁 keep it going.
Hi Daniel, will do!
Awesome tank!!! How many gallons is this tank? And how many fish do you have in it?
Thanks! It was a Reefer 525 and I think there were about 20 fish in there :)
Excited about the new series. Beautiful fish!
That's good to hear Troy, the first episode of many I hope! Thanks :-) she/he's a real beauty right!
Amazing dude one of the best!!!!

Jack knife fish
@@ThatCarGuy Thank you!

Greatest so far.
How often are you feeding the anthias?

Once a day, sometimes twice. I do feed quite a lot when I feed so every fish gets its share. I always keep on all the pumps, no specific reason why
Wonderful looking tank! I want to get a Copperband!
Was really surprised when the pipe fish came out.
Haha surprised how? Because you didn't expect it to be in there?
Really nice tank! What is the black and white striped fish with the long fins?
Thanks! That's a Spotted Drum, Equetus Punctatus!
It's beautiful!! I don't know if I noticed the big coral on the lower right side of the Tank before or is it a anemone.
Thank you Eddy! The big one on the lower right is a soft coral which has grown substantially over the last year. It's a Sarcophyton!

Mine will be here Wednesday! Along with a Moorish idol o.O

Simply beautiful!
hi, i realized your using 5mm sand as your substrate , can your sand goby keep up with that size?
No no I'm using 1-2mm sand, and Goby is fine with that!
I love your tank too
Love your videos!!!!
What a great looking tank can you please tell me the tank dimensions and volume
Thanks Walter! It's a Red Sea Reefer 525XL, about 140 gallons
I’m sure people ask all the time..what is the method of nutrient export you are using and also do you run a calcium reactor or dose? Thank you.
Just check out some of my other video's on how I reduce nutrients, and also I'm using the ATI Essentials method (dosing)
Stunning fish, one of my favourites - what's your key to success with a fish that often doesn't live long in our captive tanks in the UK ?
It truly is a remarkable fish to keep in your aquarium. For me the key success factors are: Don't keep too much "busy" fish, this one enjoys a bit of calmness. But also make sure it eats well and enough, it's easily underfed when you don't feed enough or if it doesn't properly eat.
nice tank the name of the fish is like a zebra thanks
Thanks Cesar! That's a Spotted Drum (Equetus Punctatus)
What is the blue fish in the video most of the time with the Copperband?
That's a wrasse, blue star leopard!
Love your vids and thanks for highlighting you copperband. Do your Mandarins eat frozen?
Thanks Lisa! Yeah the mandarins eat frozen, albeit slow.
It’s my absolute favorite fish. I had one that was eating amazing and unfortunately it died anyways 😢. But I just love them.
It's indeed a great fish! Aww that's sad Heidi, do you consider buying another one?
Many people say they die , sometimes without a clear reason. Thought to buy one... But after all examples of fast unreasonable death.. I dont know
Butterflyfish is next on my list for buy, I'm only thing that worried me is feeding.
Make sure that it eats frozen foods when you buy it at your LFS before buying it and you should be good!
I will do that, i have some frozen food that It's not my concern.
Do you turn your flow down while feeding ?
Nope :)
How often you feed your copperband a day?
Just once a day Gabriel!
Zou deze ook Xenia lusten? Would it feed on Xenia?
Nee daar ga ik niet vanuit!
Sir i m planning to keep Copperband butterfly but will it nip zoas
You can never be sure that they don't go after zoa's but mine is absoutely reef safe, I have had it since 2014.
How many gallons is your tank?
About 140g!
7:10 which fish is that with black and white long stripe ?
That's a spotted drum! In my newest video you can see him all grown up :)
Ok...thanx for the information.
I was going to ask the same question
Mooi mooi. Ik ben van plan om er een te halen.
Goed plan!
Can peaple please say what butterfly fish are reef safe
watch out from your fox face Rabbit fish he will cause a cardiac arrest if his spines catch you !
I am very cautious for him (and all fish, to be honest), thanks for mentioning it!
What’s name of ur skimmer ?
I had a Vertex Alpha 200 but I changed it today to an Octo Regal 150-S because the Vertex pump broke down
how to distinguish which is male and female?
To be honest I wouldn't know!
@@DutchReefer it's okay man, appreciate your reply
How big of a tank?
Reefer 525, so 150cm and 525L
What are those white snake looking things
Those are Dragon Face Pipefish, pretty hard to keep in a mixed reef tank (they died)
LOL IT'S HUGE!
Yeah it's huge indeed, has grown so much in three years time!

How big is this tank
This is a Reefer 525 which is about 500L / 140g
Size of tank?
This was a red sea reefer 525 xl, 150x55x55
Have you ever encounter ich on ur fish ? If yes, do you know how to kill it
Years ago I had some Ich outbreaks. What fixed it for me permanently (haven't had ich since) is adding a UV sterilizer to the tank!
Dutch Reefer What UV sterilizer are you using?
JBL AquaCristal UV-C 36 watt
So he eats coral or not?
No, only feather dusters and aiptasia (they are technically corals though)
Dutch Reefer does he easy care? And what he eat? Shrimp ok? But the water need tobe for awhile right?
Care is not easy, they can be hard to feed. they like small shrimp like mysis and krill! yes you need a tank that has been running for a while since they are very sensitive fish.
What size is this tank?
This was a Red Sea Reefer 525, about 150cm wide!
is this fish eat coral? i heard its not reef-safe fish.. tq
They can, but not all of them do. I keep mine well fed so it doesn't eat any corals :)
@@DutchReefer tq for the info...
