Rather than accuse people of not going to watch something they have no interest in seeing and thus wasting their valuable time he should be acknowledging those same people for not behaving stupidly and farcically. His head is on backwards for thinking his silly demands are everyone's obligations.
Good discussion. As a guy married to the same woman for 38 years I have sat through more than my share of romantic comedies. It's somewhat tolerable when the movie features Jennifer Lopez, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Anniston, or other high profile actresses. A gay plot with two unknown nobodys ...... of no interest to anyone, especially my wife.
They refuse to accept the facts. I mean, what is their intended target audience? if their target audience is adult gay men, less than 1% of the population, then I would say the movie is a smashing success! Dont blame ME if you blew $24 million on a $6 million wet noodle flop
It would be hard enough to draw big money on a Hispanic or Asian Romantic Comedy. A Gay one; outside NY, LA and a few other places this won't pack the theater.
Well said. I admit I had some fun with Bros sure, there were a few moments I was rooting, the rest of the movie really jumped the gun, in the end I honestly only cared for Macfarlane's character. I think when it comes down to it.....its marketing across the board missed the mark, its release date was terribly executed (more rom-coms usually between March and June, Smile destroyed the competition and Don't Worry Darling/Woman King still have legs). Eichner has limited star power. Neil Patrick Harris easily could of ran circles around Eichner, heck even Jonathan Groff, however this was Eichner's passion project so he had to lead. Sex themes/scenes in movies really are difficult me to value in general, this goes for either side of the coin.
The movie really sucked. My wife dragged me to see this crappy B-list movie. Here are my 2 cents for this film: 1) Thoughts on the overarching plot: The lead was self-loathing, but not in anything close to a good way. The lead was an even more miserable, more self-loathing gay Woody Allen. The romantic interest was basically a cardboard cutout, and the larger plot seemed ... oddly spoofish and almost offensive in the way it depicts gay culture. 2) Additional thought: It was rife with long monologues about gay erasure with additional gay-oriented rigmarole heaped onto this mountain. The film's plot railed against treating people in LGBTQ communities as a monolith. Gay people shouldn't be treated egregiously based on the sole factor of their biological and sexual predisposition to members of the same sex. Homosexuals should have the right to date whomever they like. However, this film has done an "excellent job" of undoing the progress LGBT activities made in regard to tolerance. Anyways, it’s not the people's fault for not seeing the movie. You can’t force people to want to watch something they don’t want to watch. Unfortunately, if it’s not a superhero movie or a horror movie nobody will really see it. Romantic comedies were never top-quality mentally stimulating brain food. But I have noticed that this genre of movies did enjoy some short-lived popularity during the 1990s and the 2000s. The most successful ones in this "bottom of the barrel" movie genre were the ones with major A-list celebrity cachet. Billy can use the typical "isms" or "phobes" all he wants. But at the end of the day, attacking people will not get them to see Billy's movie. 95+% of the population is turned off by what he is selling, yet he acts completely surprised about the low ratings. Just because people don't want to see the movie doesn't make them ''homophobic"
Between -phobe and -phile is a vast expanse of non-interest. People have tastes for and against horror, superheros, biopics, historic fiction, animation, etc. We go or don't go ... period.
I enjoyed watching Splash, Mannequin, Big, Over Board (1987) and Sleepless in Seattle back in the 80s and 90s still do to this day. But mixing romance and comedy can be tricky, like action comedy I find them particularly boring and less entertaining than romance comedy. But I enjoy action more than comedy.
Agreed with all the points, and also liked the cat in background (and cat pictures lol). And especially agree about gay guys thinking they can turn a straight guy gay.. also true. If the guy DID turn gay, then he wasn't straight anyway and more likely closeted bu.
*Billy!* 🤨 Choosing not to see LGBTetc love in film *differs from* trying to block others' pleasure in it onscreen or in life. An advocate for gays*, I just don't wish to watch the action. [*& all vulnerable]
As a straight, married, Christian male I will only watch his movie in exchange for him to get a subscription to Pure Flix and watch a Pure Flix movie everyday for one month. LOL yeah neither of those things will happen.
Amazon will only publish my positive reviews! Whenever I leave a bad review it never gets posted. I am a straight male and have friends that are gay. I do not have a problem with it. I have been hit on many times when I am with them. They always start with…I know you are straight but, can I buy you a drink. It is definitely a fantasy of theirs to turn a straight man. I also don’t want to watch a movie with gay men rolling around and kissing. I honestly cringe in movies when straight actors kiss. I feel like it is so forced! It usually has Nothing to do with the plot.
I really hate having anyone's sex life crammed down my eyeballs. Why should gay and trans sex lives be any different. Why are they so hell bent on pushing everyone's sex life so hard ? I really don't get it.
@@yaskingslay What IS the plot ? To destroy humanity again and start over ? Pushing everyone to be gay would end it soon enough I guess. It feels like we've just watched a very serious and epic movie and now we're watching a clown show to lighten the mood. Well, it's not funny anymore. I'm ready for it to be over .
I'm surprised any of the movie theaters are doing well at all these days in most places. I happened to have my rabbit ear TV on and heard about this movie you mentioned. There is SO much you can watch at home now for free if you have a Roku, and the show doesn't have to be brand new - if you haven't seen the movie or TV show, it's "new" to you. And if it ain't free, I won't be watching it. No Netflix or hulu. And truth to tell, many's the time I start watching something because somebody's told me how "good" it is, and I either fall asleep or turn it off because it's actually boring to me. And the gay and transgender stuff? No thanks.
He is right I’m married and straight neither my wife nor I have any reason or desire to see this movie. I don’t care what gets you off or whom you do it with that is your right however I don’t need to see anyone that is gay including females how they form a relationship or what takes place during just don’t care. I personally don’t watch any film that is remotely romantic again it’s Hollywood not remotely factual. As a matter of fact I haven’t been to a movie in about ten years can’t tell you the last movie I watched. Hollywood is way to woke for me I don’t even stream movies for this reason.
Straight Romantic Comedies do well usually. At least they used to before people got bitter and politically correct. My best friend's wedding, When Harry met Sally. They had a winning formula till they changed it. Very few people want to see a gay Rom Com it's a fact buts it's not homophobic.
I love romantic comedies; romantic being the operative word. I'm not a fan of raunchy comedies. I love the ones you named, I also love Overboard, It Could Happen to You, The Proposal, Serendipity, While You Were Sleeping, Only You, Chances Are... I even like watching those cheesy Lifetime & Hallmark Christmas romance movies in Dec. I don't particularly like raunch comedies, even if the people are straight. There is such a disconnect with these woke coastal progressives and the rest of the country, they don't get it. What they think is funny or cute or romantic or stunning & brave (TM)-- and fine, to each his own, let them like what they like-- it is just not appealing to a lot of us. Doesn't mean there is anything wrong with or bad about the rest of us, they need to get over this; they're like a cult constantly throwing hissy fits because they can't convert everyone.
When I talked about not wanting to see two dudes rolling around in the grass kissing, I was literally describing a scene from the trailer. They were in a public park doing it with many people around them. Something I just don't want to see...
I'll gladly accept the blame. I'm not homophobic. I just despise homosexuality. Learn the difference
"What did you think was going to happen" sums it up nicely.
I don't believe his secret mission movie theater account at all...

And I wasn't exaggerating about two dudes rolling in the grass kissing, it was in the trailer!
This is the best review 😂😂
Thanks
I laugh when you say people say ok boomer to you. I'm 28 and I don't even know what the movie bros is lol. You're more up to date than me
Boomer indeed!
I don't watch Romantic Comedies. It doesn't matter if it's straight or gray.
Most of them aren't very good.

They don't want to accept it
I'm waiting for it to come out on vhs
I'm surprised it didn't go straight to Netflix.
I'm waiting for it to come out on betamax.
Did they not take in the demographic statistics into account ?
apparently not
The wedding singer is an incredible romcom
don't think I've seen it
This movie is more like a ram-com

Princess Bride is on a league of its own. It's not one thing but a conglomeration of genres masterfully put together 😁
yes indeed
Whenever you read that something "garnered buzz", it seldom indicates that the general populace is doing so, but rather the woke mainstream media.
Never trust reviews anymore.
no one howled no one cried no one watched no one can stand the insufferable bill eichner
I'm sure his account is exaggerated, (if he even snuck to the movie like he claimed).

Their culture is very highly promiscuous, it made the interview process intolerable when I was helping with the article for the Boston Phoenix.
Snakes on a Plane was godawful

No group sex in My Best Friend's Wedding.

Hi Dusty! Quick question - If Billy Eichner was on life support and I unplugged him to charge my phone, would that make me a bad person?
Birdcage was funny. but it stared comedians so, what do you want from me
Never saw it.
Why doesn't Billy Eichner ask, why gay people aren't watching his dreadful Bros. movie also?

True, the current formula being forced into movies and television is annoying at best.
