@JOSEPH PRINCE Didn’t know abt the armour in relation to the Tiger, thanks for the tip. I do know that on it’s first engagement, at Dieppe, the Germans thought the Brits were using up obsolete tanks. It’s main armament a 6 pounder was fine at El Alermain in 42 against a Panzer 4 but not by the Tunisian campaign when the Panzer 4 had been up gunned. And yes it’s ability to cross hazardous terrain was second to none but it was never on a par with a Panther or Tiger regardless of both those tanks poor reliability, as you pointed out. The Comet was pretty much was on a par with Panzer 5 and 6 s but ideally we’d have had them 2 years earlier and not in the autumn of 1944.
@@jackkruese4258 the German infantry support vehicle the Churchill was most likely to encounter was a Stug, the most common German armored vehicle. I don’t think think it would too bothered meeting one of those.
would have been interesting to see a race between the cromwell and the M24 - what a cracking collection - all credit to the good people maintaining these wonderful old vehicles
@@paredesmarcangeloc.621 agreed, completely different animals, tank racing would logically be cross country and could have all sorts of fun elements, shooting, fording, ascents and descents.
Leldance 40k needed a comet with a split exhaust cowling. I think victor is a mk.1b (exhausts coming from pipes in the pack) - could be wrong - but that means there was no point for the cowling. basically the Cromwell's rear split in twp
Comet seems a much better track system than panzer 3 and 4 etc. A very reliable, capable fighting vehicle. Remember that England didn't want WW2 (or WW1) and so we had a lot of rearamament to do. Very regrettable conflict which cost this country dearly. Lest we forget.
What a great line up. Is that the only running Cromwell ? I've been looking up the Cromwell recently after seeing a wartime photo of an open hull gunner's hatch. It did not look escape friendly. This video shows very clearly how tight those hull hatches are, especially if the driver and front gunner are wearing the bulky tank suits.
There are 3 more Cromwells in restoration by Track And Wheel. One has just been complete, another two are on the way. There are probably more running though.
@@jackkruese4258 the German tanks are not completely superior to everything the British had, ok? And they’re not pieces of junk, they are fantastic pieces of history.
Jammie Dodger. Truly. TRULY YES Indeed... Especially the Comet. a Reliable Simple Design... Great speed. 32MPH. a Very good Gun. The Comet was REALLY good. of course other tanks the British had worked Real well Too. The Churchill. the Valentine. The Sherman Firefly. the M4 Sherman. the M24 Chaffee. the CromWell. But yep. the Comet was the best.
I love seeing guys dressed up as WW2 British soldiers with modern phones xD
ABritishOrc take the rough with the smooth man 😉 couldn't get my hands on an old camera!
Kinda hard to find original Smartphone from '44
Probably the only person in the world that thinks this but the Cromwell and Churchill tanks are my favourites of ww2
Nope I love the cromwells👍
You are not alone.
Both fine until they meet anything German.

Why? Go watch Nascar or something.

Amazing footage to see these classic tanks on the move again.
Comet and Cromwell - fab! just needed an Achillies for my holy trinity :)

That looks like an Achilles in the field at around the 2:30 mark. So your dream has come true !!
I correct myself. It seems to be an M 36.
That Meteor engine sound is beautiful
The best tank engine of WW2. Derived from the best aero engine of WW2!
The Valentine is so quiet compared to the Cromwell. That Meteor engine certainly wouldn't allow the Cromwell to sneak up on anything!
Honestly mate, one of the best sounding tanks ever.
Stealth 100

It is a 1944 tank the panzer 3 and 4 are older
Was that Captain Mannering at 2:33 ?

Beautiful tanks. That Chaffee too. ❤️
She's good fun to ride around in!
Wading screen on the Valentine?
Great footage, thanks for posting!
Yes it’s a rare DD version. Same method as used by the DD Shermans.
@@Jim8471 Thanks for that, never knew they did a DD Valentine. Do you know if they were ever used in action?

Ww2 tanks in action by the tank museum
Which tank is it that sounds like a really low pitch supercar? What a beautiful sound
The Comet would have been a winner during the battle for Normandy. Each model was manufactured 1 year too late.
🏆🏆🏆👍🇺🇲🙏
Thank you for sharing
Im sure i seen that Valentine at War and Peace? Or another back in 2010 ish.
You will have seen this. It's been on the show circuit for years and I believe the only remaining Valentine DD running.
Hey look it's my nan
wow awesome
Great!
Shame the woman in the Valentine was not in tankies uniform, sort of broke the illusion
What's the American vehicle at 4 mins? A tank destroyer?
M24 Chaffee followed by M5A1 Stuart.
@@Jim8471 thanks 😁
What's up witht the Valentine's drivewheel?
They have planetary gears in the hubs that spin way faster than the actual drive sprocket. Similar to some bulldozers now a days.
@@Jim8471 I see, thanks
Would love to use the cromwell on a movie on korean war
The Cromwell wasn’t used in the Korean War…

Cromwell B berlin
Was even the chatten in british service
is not cormwell but cormwell B
irsyad fadhil still a Cromwell though 😂
Tiger 131 will steal the show.
Germans booty cheeks clapped by British armor in 44, dry no doubt. Comet and Cromwell tanks definitely under rated.

Valentine DD? Crikey those are rare.
didnt realize the Valentine is so small....can it actually take a hit?
A correction for your description - the Meteor engine was 27L not 37L capacity.
Ser Garlan Tyrell Chill out, just a typo...
I know the look of British tanks and the names , but what are the tank 1st to 3rd ?
Cromwell, Valentine, then Comet.
