You saved my day! I have an EL4325A (which looks slightly different from you model), and the cable had been rewound too fast and had "locked" itself on the spool. I needed to take the cleaner apart in order to fix this problem. Even though it was not exactly the same model, I was able to follow to instructions to detail. PERFECT! THANKS! I had never guessed how to pry those plastic covers off! I fixed the cable-clutter, and at the same time I fixed another problem: The cable-break had never been able to completely stop the cable from rewinding slowly, so we had used a cloth peg to hold the cable when using the cleaner. It turned out to be a fine layer of dust on the rim of the cable-spool, plus dust on the fiber break-wheel. The cable can now be pulled out, and it is held still until we press the release-button.
Great and easy to follow tutorial. I didn't need to repair a motor, but the cord on mine had gotten stuck inside the machine and once I had removed the top cover it was easy to force it back on the spool with a bread knife. Thanks from melbourne!
What a great tutorial. I changed the motor following your video and had no problems at all. I suggest to get the switches out use a pocket knife instead of a screwdriver. Worked for me and popped out first time, no worries.
Fantastic video. Ordered my parts as a result. A thought is to use automotive radio/trim removal tools which are plastic to reduce the damage popping the various buttons off. Thanks for this!
About disambling an electrolux vacuumcleaner is not much to find online. I will follow your steps to try to repair mine. Thanks for your time and uploading!!
Yes I think you are correct. I have also been told that under certain conditions the filter is actually pulled slightly away from the cage meaning dust laden air can be drawn straight into the motor.
We have a Z3372 and besides the spool not retracting the cable fully, i decided to inspect the motor brushes also. I forgot to take a photo or, label the wires and when reassembling, I found it would not power up. Have you a photo still from your past videos of the wiring as I'm not good at associating the diagram with the actual layout.
Fantastic video I need one for the Z8240 Electrolux please now going to beg pretty please I have got all covers off I think all screws but there a lug holding it into body ? Have hunted all over net nothing out there
Hi Ray, The most common reason for this is that the body can warp slightly so the pedals actually start to stick. If you remove the pedals sometimes giving them a good clean round the edges with wd40 will work. Otherwise the best bet is to replace the upper body at around $45 from memory
Really nice and clear explanation. My Electrolux Ultra Performer (looks the same as the Ultra Active) motor stops running after a couple of seconds of use. Checked all the filters and they look clear to me. Just for S & G's I've taken off all the filters and the dust collector and run the vacuum and she still shuts down after a couple of seconds. Does it sound like a motor that's on its last legs? Cheers, Charlie.
can I ask you what would happen if given flatmate ran a vacuum cleaner with none of the filters and filter tray in place? I have a AEG LX8 also known as electrolux ultraflex in some markets
Hi, Nice stuff you got here mate! Do you have a video where you disassemble a Ultra silencer Green? My cord does not retract more than 50% and when trying to disassemble I can't find all the correct screws or parts to remove or how. Thanks for sharing!
hi i have an auag3800 wich looks pretty much the same... the problem is, that the suction power varies on the fly. Sometimes it goes down, and up again, without touching it... It does not sound bad, its just not the same power as it had when it was new. Do you think its the motor, or what should i look for? thx!
I've just removed a bearing from electromotor. You don't need to throw away an electro motor you can buy the bearing for 4$ it's much cheaper.....electro motor 100$ 😱😱
Your instructions worked great. New motor cost $100 on eBay, some new tools and boom. Saved $600+ on a new one. Thanks 🙏

Great Stuff - Glad you got it sorted, these are not an easy machine to deal with.

Great video. Thank you. Cord had jumped over the spool of the winder and gotten stuck. Easily fixed by watching this vid!

great video , thnx
Mine does not power on anymore, i have to find out why.
thanks for getting your hands dirty for us.
how much does it cost to replace the motor?
You saved my vacuum cleaner! Thanks!
Great, thanks guys.
Drop the motor in and trap the wire at the same time!
HI Phillipa, Basically this means the motor is burning out. Unfortunately the only solution is to replace the motor.
Thanks a lot

The motor itself is not expensive $99.00. If you need someone to do the repair for you I would say they will charge $60-$80.
i guess it was hewavily used and it was at a farm
