    You give just the right amount of info + you show pictures on what it'll look like when mature. I have a terrible time judging what the mature size of my plants will be, so your pictures are extremely helpful! Thank you!

    Zone 8b, I planted these in full sun in a 100 foot strip between my neighbors and I 3 years ago. Combined sunshine ligustrum, hetzii columnar juniper and purple daydream loropetalum in a zigzag planted formation. First year I had issues with the tops of the ligustrum leaves having brown spots. Second year those leaves never came back and was left with dead twigs. Trimmed those out and they look much better. Not getting any upward growth on them but they are quite dense and bushy. The yellow during the summer pops against the green and purple.

    Love this plant, NOW. Being a South Texas native, I've seen many plants that are yellow because they're sick so I've typically been turned off by yellow foliage plants. I've had a change of heart and incorporate it and all other colored foliage now into my yarden space. ♥

    Interesting to hear that the gold color can shift around during different times of the year as the exposure changes. This could allow you to create some neat effects if under planting some trees that do not hold leaves. You they would brighten up and present a very different border due to the enhanced exposure that time of year.

    My ground planted sunshines look great even now in Winter here in central NC. My potted versions who don’t get special care have bronzed and thinned out much more due to dry conditions I wager. Even in the amber/bronze color it’s pretty and with some rain I think they’ll bounce back fine.

    I have six of these that have been planted about three years. (Raleigh, NC) Last spring, we got brilliant yellow growth, that fell off after a month or so, making us scratch our heads as to why they dropped leaves in the spring, making the shrubs quite bare. We thought perhaps they were dying for some unknown reason. However, within another month or so, the shrubs had flushed back out with new leaves. I am just waiting to see if the process repeats itself this spring.

      All three of my newly planted last May ligustrums have dropped their leaves in the past couple of weeks. Should I prune any stems or branches? or just wait and see?

    • @amyp8833
      @amyp8833 2 роки тому

      @@laura324n I didn't prune them at all last year and got a new flush of leaves later toward early summer. I've never experienced this with a plant where it leafs out once, then again later in the year. Whatever the case, the sunshine ligustrum shrubs are doing the same thing again this year. It's May and they're not pretty at all. But they do eventually leaf out again. We are thinking of removing them.
