WISDOM ~ LYRICS: A sea of fire to cross, alone The cries of gargoyles carved from stone A writhing serpent tempts me with lies As boiling black smoke burns the skies Caught in an endless maze, forlorn No hope, no sight, no dreams, no dawn Despair lies cold and damp on my skin Nothing but the light that burns within I have seen mountains fall Watched as time erased timeless walls I have witnessed whole worlds fail And seen serpents swallow their own tails And yet, I am so full of love Yeah, I am so full of love Mantras written in gold leaf Ancient words for peace Wisdom carved in the living stone To guide us home I can see when I close my eyes Earth, sea and sky Hear the voice that speaks through me Spread your wings and fly Wisdom carved in stone To guide us home Earth, sea and sky Fly!
Whoa. It's 1979 and I'm reading an issue of Heavy Metal with my headphones on. Right? Wait. No. It's 2016 and I'm a whole lot older. Geez. It's sure not for everybody but I sure gotta respect a song/video that can do that to my head.
if there is a "resurrecting" genre or something that is coming back now that i like, it's this classic black sabbathy influenced style of rock. i don't know why i like this so much. i think it's because it sounds modern and technically great. some old classic rock cds i don't listen to as much because unless you're playing on vinyl player (which I don't have), i feel you can't get as much bass or clarity. but this genre brings back the classic tunes with a modern production and stonery/doomy heaviness. love it
Erik Levitsky i know it has. what i meant by that is i'm not a big fan of rethrash or bands like black veil brides or steel panther trying to bring back that 80s arena rock stuff. i like these modern stoner/doom bands that are reviving a classic rock style
Is it like the fantasy element? Escapism, almost like Gamers? Cuz this confuses me... Only because it seems like such a far cry from Kyuss and the Google search that led me here. It almost denigrates the song, or at least there could be another look and feel that enhanced it... HOWEVER! I am totally 34 years old, so it may be a generational thing, which is why I ask. Meaning, you may see something I don't.
TrueStory I didn't say this band is influenced by Kyuss. No band is like Kyuss. I just said this band has a sabbath/classic rock influence with a stoner/doom heaviness. I didn't say this band sounds like Kyuss. Kyuss isn't the only stoner band in existence
Overall just awesome. Bought the CD upon release and love it. The production values are top notch.. I love how tactile and present the drums are, which really drives the song home. I also am getting goosebumps on the riffs and changes. Thanks!
Pamela Lundy I used to in the 70s :P This was ages ago, but excel is the way to go. (even converted my cd collection, with every detail (even the date I bought it) into a list, on excel)
I can’t tell you how much I fucking love this band this is real doom and I love there hair the riffs the drums the lyrics everything! They put a lot of work into this song I can tell it’s fucking AWSOME!!! I wanna see them live🤘🤘🤘
Calculate the entropical effect of the leaf number of rubber tree to the leaf number of olive tree in unitless magnitude; If the number of rubber is 1.234.543 And the number of olive is 5437 And athmospheric pressure is 101.3 kPa ?
One Mad Bastard Whoa, we are badass, aren't we? Maybe you ought to spend more time on ortography though... Or let's just keep it simple, stick to good manners. By the way, sick song, Sabbath plus epicness (just to get to the point)
I like this song or want to love it ...but the bottom drops out of it at the halfway mark 03:46. That super heavy driving riff just vanishes and we get a long interim of quietude and we don't get anything back until about 06:41. I just feel this song was trying to do too much, or be too many things and could have been better. I don't mind 10 minute songs; I am a fan of AHAB et al....
Just to clear if anyone is confused. Israfel is the name for the trumpeteer. Israel is the name for father of jews, that is jacob. That's why sometimes jews are called sons of israel. Israel as a country stole the name.

I think they're calling it "Classic Doom". That and Stoner Doom seem to be increasing in popularity.

Gave me black sabbath vibes!
Black Sabbath, St. Vitus, Cathedral, Trouble, Count Raven came to mind after hearing this.
I dig this. This was exactly what I was searching for after listening to the new Opeth album.
So raw. Just an impressive sound. I love it!
The recording of the drums sounds great along with the rest of the mix, props to the audio engineer.
Kind of across between early Sabbath runs head on into Cathedral.... Digging it

For a second I thought it was a Yogscast reference, then I realized Israfel is a religious name.
His voice reminds me of Messiah Marcolin.
Maximiliano Castro Netto a mix between candlemass and lord vicar in terms of vocal style imo
