I recently got a 150 MGL instead of pre ordering the M since I don’t need any extra line capacity but I was intrigued by the MGL3 spool being added into the M so I’m stoked you went into depth with the spool👍👍 Maybe compare the 150MGL and the M spools?
I bet it's a beast and can fling with the best of em. My 22 bantam out casts my 21 zillion by quit a bit distance wise which is disappointing cause I like the zillion. I pimped it out and love the drag clicker but find myself reaching for the bantam more often than not. Plus that bantam is soooo silky smooth and so nice I kept it all stock.
Perfect, consistent introduction. I bow to You. I like more how the K looks, but M is exactly step forward in case of features. I use my MGK 151 XG more than my K 200 XG now TBH. 👏👏👏🍻
When are you going to do a Curado M vs 150 MGL? Waiting on your video before purchase...NO PRESSURE :) 😁 Seriously, if anyone owns both, please give me your opinion. TIA
It's mostly the same styling and color as the 150 MGL so it's just the 200 size version of that. I prefer the 150 MGL with my smaller hands plus I like 6 brake shoes vs 4
If I had never seen a Curado before if think the Curado M is the older model. The Curado K looks more sleek and modern. That being said I don’t care for either. I am not a fan of this brake system at all. I’ve bought and sold several Shimano reels with this brake system. This includes the SLX XT.
@@ButchIsFalse didn’t say it didn’t work. I just don’t care for the new brake system. No better than Shimano? I don’t know about that. I’ve owned a reel repair business for 20 years and repairs are fairly even across the board. Even the cheap stuff nowadays ain’t terrible. I’ve also used Shimano since the ‘70’s and they are great reels. I just prefer their older centrifugal system.
I am torn now, newest design... I literally have MGL150 ordered and on the way, now I am thinking i should have ordered the new M, i am looking for a cranking setup with 6.2.1 and glass crank rod.... Thought I have never had any Shimano products, so what should I do?! I do have a Tatual 100 SV103 and Revo SX LP and some older cheap stuff.
Likes: handle being bigger is great , reel tension knob easier to adjust, spool being a MGL is a good thing lighter spool , Line guide being further out is also good thing. Bad: -design because it’s bigger reel especially height than the K -don’t like the two tone with gloss. Gloss tends to scratch and look terrible quickly. -Also don’t like micro module gears. -I found the break adjustment knob stiff and hard to move at the store , it still was terrible compared to other reels. -They no longer offer 5 speed booooo! Interesting: - for a 200 their line capacity is low compared to other brands. Bad for a cranking reel , good for a flippin reel
The M is new, it just came out, but the 150 MGL will probably eat up any Daiwa you put against it. Go look up the cast battle video I did a few months ago where I battled the 150MGL vs 5 other reels including 2 Daiwas
I was wondering if the curado M can compare to the metanuim now that the curado has the mgl 3. I know people love the metanuim because of the light weight, feel and mgl 3 but since the curado M is half that price with the mgl 3 will it be on par with the metanuim with casting not by weight? If so can you do the curado M vs metanuim casting distance onky?
I love shimano reels except for line capacity. This 200 size reel doesnt hold enough line for me ( I use 20-25 flouro). The diawa 150 size reel holds 40 more yards of 14# I just wish shimano would offer a more refined reel (metanium?) With larger line Cap. The tranks is not refined and when you go to 300 curado plenty of line but not refined My 2 cents
@@ButchIsFalse yes I have done that also, and still do for my punching and flipping sometimes but I dont like it for bombing a 3/4 swimjig. That being said it still doesnt solve the issue of this 200 being smaller than their 150
You failed to mention how the M went away with the hidden screw design like the K which I think makes the reel look cheap. All Shimano did was make cheaper to build Curado to make more money. I wanna see both of them tore down and compare internal parts. I’ll stick with my K’s and think the M is a downgrade.
@@NativeDescent seeing the screws means cheaper side plates and frames were used. With the spool being smaller on the M it’s more of a 175 size. Most 200K owners love the deep spools. Now if the M would drop at $150-169 ea (which they should) it is not even close to the K in build quality. It’s your $ tho and spend it how you want.
@@davewesternky Aldebaran, Tranx 150 3-400, and all the other Curado besides the K have external screws. The K and M hold the same amount of line, M has more drag, weigh less, and has MGL III spool and SilentTune. Every other technology from the K is still used. I think you may be overlooking the improvements over something cosmetic that is pretty normal for their reels.
Looks great , I’m still not a fan of the new brake system .. Cus if you don’t oil it once in a while you’ll notice .. Just one more thing to deal with .. When you use it a lot you must oil it weekly .. the old SVS brakes no oil needed and works as good if not better imo .. Love my Curado Ks .. might buy one of these new ones when they come down in price cus they will .. Thanks for the great review
Ive never had to oil these new SVS Infinity brakes not even once, even with my original Casitas. Now the older version that was on the Curado I and Aldebaran 50, those brakes needed some oil every few weeks.
Beautiful reel but they can go even more neutral and still look more incredible just as Ark & Kastking have done with their offerings. Great reel for sure but still overpriced.
They need to stop making so many reels and just make one great one we can all enjoy for a couple of years period ,I understand they want to make money but if they make one to out perform all other models what more could be best for us anglers.
Im still using my Curado for 2009 and love it.

Love how they’re bringing the curado green back so dopeee
I think the original Curado was red?
My Curado MGL 150's do everything I needed to do.
one of the best reels for the money right now

It's a work of art Shimano just makes nice stuff.
i like the look and color of this reel...reminds me of the new 2024 toyota tacoma trailhunter in color. i like it!
I really like the new curado M design. Very clean and simple
I'm getting it. I'm on a budget big time but I don't mind saving up
It looks really good 👍
Back to easy to tell its green, finally. Is the scorpion getting an update too?
Probably, but we wont know until late January next year

In the same boat here!!

I'll stick to the 200k I love those reels. These will eventually come up on the used market and maybe I'll pick one up then
I'd rather spend another $47 and get a JDM Metanium.

I rather get the bantam mgl because of the infinity drive.
I didnt feel the Infinity Drive vs the old Bantam, maybe I didnt have enough resistance burning in a double willow spinner
I honestly don't like my bantam mgl as much as I had hoped.
Please compare Curado M 200 with Scorpion Md 200 (2024), that would be awesome and great. Not much people review it

How do the Daiwa s at same price point as shimano curado 150 mgl and 200 m compare?

bro, is the spool on both reels fit each other? i wonder if can swap the spool on curado M to curado k 🥺

You have a video of top baitcasters? Im looking to soend from 100 to 220ish on one for bass fishing using chatterbaits and jig heads
either the Curado 150 MGL or the JDM Shimano SLX DC XT
Handles on the k have been popping off and getting loose. Hope they fixed that issue with M version.
Would you rather the new Curado M or the new Bantam MGL for frogging?
It should have little gold than silver where is the dc model on that spool can you put a bearing on it curado m
This is exactly the same than the jdm scorpion md 200 the only diference is that the scorpion has 1 more bb I am wondering where
Can't wait for a cast battle/test with other reels with mgl 3 spools....for 200 may just be a sweet deal.
gotta wait till it cools down outside so I dont get a heat stroke lol
