Soto thought money 1st instead of making history with a historic franchise with almost the same money. He wanted to be a Met, flat out. Nothing the Yanks could've done to change his mind. Getting Fried, Williams and Bellinger is a AWESOME Plan B. Cashman is NOT known for makin these kind of moves in a WHILE. The last time he did something like this was in 2009 when he got CC, Tex and AJ and what happend after that? World Series Champions.
Sal is sounding a bit ridiculous in this segment. The Holmes argument is wild. He clearly hasn't seen Holmes pitch, he lost the Yankees at least 10 games and led the league in blown saves. Let's be real.
baseball doesnt work that way, is this player better than that player, its not the nba lol its about a collective effort. cant wait to see the mets fail as per usual. congrats on winning the offseason lol
If the Yankees signed Soto, there would be no Fried, Williams and Bellinger, which is fine. And there is no guarantee that after getting Soto meant they would have gone after Walker. Getting Fried allowed them to get Williams and now Bellinger for less money than Soto alone. Now they could go get Walker or someone else and still dont spend as much for Soto.
Here's the thing. At some point there will be an at bat in October where they walk Judge to get to Bellinger and at that moment they'll regret not having Soto
Yeah we're going to regret not having that dude till he's 41 years old. Imagine defending that long ass contract that anyone with half a brain knows Soto is naturally going to underperform for half of it.
I’m a Yankee hater but Cmon. you can’t compare Williams to fickle year to year relievers. The guy is beyond elite. He’s been elite since his first pitch in the mlb.
Sal is giving props to Holmes because he’s now a Met. Holmes was good for Yankees but more of a disappointment with 11 to 12 blown saves and couldn’t end an inning when runners were on base. Good luck with clay holmes.
the Yankees plan B is looking really good and i'm optimistic currently constructed i feel we're the best team in AL. we got better defensively and the pitching is our strength we should have a top 5 bullpen/rotation next year.
Sal is not letting the Yankees have a break…I’m a Yankee fan. And I hate to break it to ya Sal…I agree with BT…what the Yankees are doing right now is unbelievable. Bellinger is gonna do great this year….he’s got a little bit of pop. The thing is Has Soto ever produced great out fielding like Bellinger has? Bellinger has a cannon of an arm…Soto does not. Also signing Christian walker to a long term deal…we will win the World Series. And I have faith in the New York Yankees that we will
Sal’s role on this show is to try (and fail) to discredit the Yankees every chance he gets. Why can’t he ever admit that the Yankees are doing the right thing?
Like how no brings up that Soto had his best year of his career hitting infront of JUDGE lol Soto doesnt come close to an 8 war without the protection of Judge 😂 and aint no way Sals goofy ass is trying to compare Holmes to Williams because Williams gave up 1 HR.
@jeremyvalentin9145 hey dumb ass he got more pitches to hit due to Judge being his protection. Your comment Cleary shown you dont know shit about baseball
IM not a yankee fan but the yankees are better off without soto and a Mets fan and i think the yankees are doin a great job the Mets got the money but besides soto they ndont want to spent soto is not going to give us a championship we need better piching and more offense
As a met fan who loves this game, these moves right now the Yankees have made are great. You can move judge to right, belli at center. Or you can throw belli at 1st a few games this year and get Dominguez, if healthy in the mix. I can see them getting walker which then solidifies 1st base and that defense gets astronomically better. Plus a stacked rotation and one of the best closer in the game. Id be surprised if they won less than 95 games.
So funny how the internet is trying to convince fans Yanks are better without Soto. This is a major PR move on behalf of the Yankees because they know Soto didn’t want to go back there
Mets fans now trying to say Holmes is as good as Devin Williams 🤦♂️...dude lost his job. And I work with a Mets fan, I promise you he was not saying anything good about Holmes until he became a Met. Delusional fan base
Sal is literally trying to downplay every Yankee move lmfao. “Clay Holmes has been a solid reliever for you guys”. 15 seconds later after Devin Williams is mentioned: “Relievers are so finicky they’re good than they’re not”
Walker + Bellinger could each easily have 20 HRs and 50 RBI, thus equaling Soto’s output from last season. The narrative that the yanks won’t be better off is ridiculous.
BT this love for Walker is absurd, he is 34 and has NO bat...Bellinger on 1B, Profar in CF, Arenardo on 3B....bring up Aries for SS, Volpe is another player you are in love with, he also is a strikeout waiting to happen. Get these players and we win the WS....
Arias isn't ready yet. He has to improve on the 30% k rate. I agree he has the tools to be a stud, but he's not ready. I think Volpe will become a quality player, glove first SS, you can win with him. Arias might be the future 2nd baseman IMO. As for Walker, he's actually the type of righty that plays well at Yankee stadium because he can go opposite field. Goldschmidt though can give you similar production with flexibility to move on next year.
Soto was without a doubt the best player available. However, he wasn't enough to win the WS. Yankees can't put all the eggs in one basket. Hindsight is 20/20, Soto to the Mets might be the best outcome for the Yankees. If Judge and Stanton stay healthy along with the pitching rotation, we will be back in the playoffs.
Sal, Cohen flexed his muscle and got the Met fans the big player he promised he would and you got him from the Yankees. You got a big W there. But cmon man, the Yankees are building on run prevention which won them 4 WS in the 90s. They have the best rotation in baseball, a top bullpen, they're trying to shorten the game, and theyre adding defensive and athletic players. I agree they need a second guy with Judge (you cant replace Soto), but the other pick ups, Chisholm, Bellinger, Goldschmidt, potentially Arenado, they just need supplamentary production from them. By all credible projections, Volpe and Wells (could be an all star next year) will improve and Dominguez is on the ROY watchlist. They arent imploding, they will still be competitive. Want to really one up the Yankees, beat them in the Series instead of wishing and talking yourself into their demise. Right now, Id be concerned that the Mets have done little besides signing Soto.
This guy sal is a joke the Yankees live rent free in his head. He really said clay holmes and devil Williams is equal when that bum blew game after game pretty stupid biased opinion
@@professorFG yes and Mariano Rivera blew a game against the diamondbacks to lose the World Series and lost the 4th game against the Red Sox in 2004 to lose the series later and he blew the pivotal game 4 against the Indians in 97 but he was the best reliever of all time. (Breathe…lol) So Devon Williams is better than Holmes by lot
Does WAR consider the 5 flyballs Soto misplayed that lead to a loss? I missed maybe 15 games... I witnessed 5 plays that lead to a loss. Soto is an incredible hitter... his speed and fielding is avg at best.
There isn’t a move that the Yankees can make that Sal will say we were better off then getting Soto. He’s trying to now say plan A would have been Soto and walker… there’s no guarantee plan A would have been to sign both Soto and walker. If the Yankees wind up getting max, Bellinger, Williams, walker this offseason it would have been light years better then Soto ( who can only hit and doesn’t really do much else)
Its a good addition with Bellinger, but some of the Yankee fans saying hes better that Soto you either need your heads examined or you still have sour grapes. Yankees and their fans have to come to the reality that they are no more the richest team that can buy anyone they want. They are behind the Mets and Dodgers at this point.
They were horrible for 3 months WITH Soto. Let’s not overreact and act like the Yankees would’ve been better with Soto and his albatross of a contract instead of adding quality players with the money they were going to just give one guy. They would’ve gotten eliminated EARLY with Soto if they faced better teams before the WS.
@jo3y_2.0 let's not forget the Yankees offered him $760 million for 16 years. So it's not like the Yankees walked away or offered something very low. The Yankees were about to hand out the largest contract in sports history themselves. I agree this is a better route for the team, because the Yankees don't have Steve Cohen money and the Soto contract in addition to the judge one would have set the Yankees back for years in terms of signing other free agents.
@@jo3y_2.0 and have you already forgotten that Soto (and Stanton) were the only Yankees that showed up in the Playoffs and WS? Got Judge striking out every other at bat and dropping fly balls in the outfield
Dominguez should lead off. He already has the best eye on the team and great swing decisions. He has great speed and switch hits. Lead off is literally the perfect spot for his skill set. People want to put volpe there but he doesn’t have any of those skills. Volpe is faster than slow guys but he doesn’t have Dominguez sprint speed at all. Not close.

He is perhaps the dumbest talking head alive and even more annoying than Carton
We have moved on from losing Soto Sal. The team is getting better without him
Sal jacking off to getting Soto, but they haven’t replaced Alonso’s bat or got a SP that isn’t a project.
Sal what are your thoughts on Juan Soto? You never talk about him up anymore
The Yankees could sign babe Ruth and Sal will still say …..”but Soto”
🤣
😂😂😂😂bingo you said the greatest comment on this video of all. Lol
Sal sounds like a fool today....he is unhinged.
baseball doesnt work that way, is this player better than that player, its not the nba lol
its about a collective effort. cant wait to see the mets fail as per usual. congrats on winning the offseason lol
Sal’s idea that “it’s a wash” is a self own.
So the Yankees will the same as last year? An ALE title and a WS appearance? Oh nooooo 😱
He’s mad because even with Soto on the Mets they are still not a better team than the Yankees.
That pitching staff is pathetic.
Bellinger will go into 2 hole over jazz I think
Yeah we're going to regret not having that dude till he's 41 years old. Imagine defending that long ass contract that anyone with half a brain knows Soto is naturally going to underperform for half of it.
The Yankees will regret nothing. They did everything in their power to get Soto and he bounced to the Mets ñ, it was soto choice not the Yankees.
When was the last time you guys were right about anything
Judge has better numbers than Soto every year
JUDGE < Playoffs !
the Yankees plan B is looking really good and i'm optimistic currently constructed i feel we're the best team in AL. we got better defensively and the pitching is our strength we should have a top 5 bullpen/rotation next year.
Sal is not letting the Yankees have a break…I’m a Yankee fan. And I hate to break it to ya Sal…I agree with BT…what the Yankees are doing right now is unbelievable. Bellinger is gonna do great this year….he’s got a little bit of pop. The thing is
Has Soto ever produced great out fielding like Bellinger has?
7.1 WAR with the nats in his age 22 season short porch helped him way more than being “protected by Judge”
@jeremyvalentin9145 hey dumb ass he got more pitches to hit due to Judge being his protection. Your comment Cleary shown you dont know shit about baseball
who is on first? whats on 2nd i dunno will play 3rd ? you need defense up the middle and the ball bangers on the edge
Great reliver
Thumbs down! Sal is just a MET HOMER. Soto won't get the Mets to the World Series. What about all the holes on the Mets Sal? BT as usual is spot on.
I'm a mets fan. Jesus sal let BT talk and get his points across then you can say your piece.
I can’t with this show anymore. Sal is such a clown.
Sal is a Yankee hater. Why bother arguing with him🤷♂️
Gil isn't a top 20 pitcher and BT knows it which is why he shut down debating about it before saying that.
Yankees need more hitting. Let’s see what this squad looks like at the deadline, I have faith in cashman.
Did they discuss Carlos Santana or Paul Goldschmidt vs Christian walker
Sal is literally trying to downplay every Yankee move lmfao. “Clay Holmes has been a solid reliever for you guys”. 15 seconds later after Devin Williams is mentioned: “Relievers are so finicky they’re good than they’re not”
This team is way better then the team that finished game 5
Sal never has nothing good to say
Cashman did a good job so far this year
Soto was without a doubt the best player available.
You can lose a better player but you can get players that fit better on your team...
Splitting up that money and getting a number of great guys vs Juan Soto is smart and that’s why Hal and Cashman are better than Cohen.
Sal is forgetting the closer who is a game changer. They are clearly a more balanced team nice they add a first basemen
This guy sal is a joke the Yankees live rent free in his head. He really said clay holmes and devil Williams is equal when that bum blew game after game pretty stupid biased opinion
@@mamunkashem823 yes and Williams blew a playoff game against the Mets, my point is that relievers blow games all the time
@@professorFG yes and Mariano Rivera blew a game against the diamondbacks to lose the World Series and lost the 4th game against the Red Sox in 2004 to lose the series later and he blew the pivotal game 4 against the Indians in 97 but he was the best reliever of all time.
(Breathe…lol)
So Devon Williams is better than Holmes by lot
@t206kid that's why Soto picked the Mets. Cohen can afford him and other guys to put around him.
@TheMacdod exactly. I hope they resign Alonso, I think they will, but if they don't they will probably be in on Vlad Jr next year
Sal is absolutley unlistenable
Big Yankee fan but I'm pumping the brakes on saying Plan B wins them anything.
There is nothing the Yankees can do that will get Sal to admit they did a good job.
Hey Sal one player is not going to win a World Series
NO walker and QO Mayber but doubt it. Mark my words sal.. OFFSEASON isn't over
Clay Holmes w had more blown saves than anyone in baseball. What a dope!
Not close.
lol perfect fit a .200 hitter that strikeout a lot with some power at least he’s pretty good at defense 😂😂😂 same boring Yankees playing that type of baseball puts anyone to sleep Soto is way too good for that crappy team
Mets fan here he batted 307 last year 266 this year k rate is actually pretty good 89 in 130 games it’s a decent pickup
