This song will never be the same for me after watching the video of her singing it at an Austin hospice for a teen fan a few years ago (it's on youtube if you want to watch). The girl was fighting cancer and couldn't make it to her show but she stopped by and sang along with her. The love and sadness of it all is just overwhelming. I was a fan before but this put Florence up there in my book.
I've seen the video several times. Makes me cry every time when the girl sings along and claps. Beyonce did the same thing singing halo. Check it out ❤
I saw her play to less than 100 people when this record came out, in a small church hall in London. Jarvis Cocker from Pulp was a special guest. A year later she was number 1 and playing main stage festivals.
Yes! And No light, no light. She also has a new one out that she collaborated with Dave from Glass Animals called My Love. What the Water Gave Me is another great song
Florence! Florence Welch is one of the best things to happen to music in the last two decades. I'm so glad you did this song. Please check out "Rabbit Heart" next. (Girl With One Eye and My Boy Builds Coffins are also ones to check out.)
Omg, her voice is phenomenal! I have had the pleasure of seeing her live and it was amazing! I was blown away tbh. Shake it out, Spectrum, Bedroom Hymns, only if for a night, never let me go, seven devils, between two lungs....etc etc
I am so excited to see you guys get into Florence! Her voice is brilliant and the band is amazing!!! Please check out "Cosmic Love", "Ship to Wreck", "Kiss With A Fist", "You've Got the Love"
She has a fantastic voice. I'm not a big fan of the video. If you see her live versions her voice is the same and there is no distractions. That girl can sing!
She has amazing voice and so many great songs ,Cosmic Love,Never let me Go,You've Got the Love,No Light No light,Jenny of Oldstones,What Kind of man....
There is a video of her singing this acapela to patients in the hospital. It's incredible. She is definitely powerful and magical. Agree with others, seeing her live performances is where it's at.
So happy you got to Florence, love her so much. They have so many great songs you need to react to. Girl with one eye, heavy in your arms, and Only if for a night are some goodies
Florence Welch was born in 1986. I don't know who she lists as her main influences but she is from England. I'm not her or you all's, age but enjoy the songs I've heard from her before. For an absolutely stunning song & video, try her song Big God (it's not a religious song but rather one she wrote after being ghosted.) Her voice is stellar in this song. I intend to hear more of her stuff but I know about a dozen songs of hers and they are all good. Florence +the Machine are listed as Indie Rock on Wikipedia but I've heard them described as Baroque Pop, don't ask me what exactly that is though.
Florence has one of the best voices out there. Her band aren't bad either and have a unique sound with the harp etc. Her videos are always wonderfully artistic and she has a stack of great songs. My personal favouite is 'What the Water gave me' which is simply epic.
Shake It Out by Florence. Pretty much any live performance, her Cancer Trust concert fantastic. And if you want your heart broken, her singing with a terminal cancer patient in a hospital is beautiful and heartbreaking.
Just watch the video of the little kid in the car seat crying until this song comes on. Then loosing their mind once it does start playing. That'll tell you everything you need to know about this song. It just makes you feel.
This song and kiss with a fist are my favourites she as a big back catalogue you should do a deep dive but react to her live stuff she doesn't wear shoes on stage she's like a pixie
What a voice Florence has!!! On a very personnal level, "What Kind of Man" hit me like a ton of brick when me and my ex separated. And I still sing my heart out when I hear it :D
The chord changes at 5:04 really come out of no where in the best way possible. Its a solid song before that, but that's a little extra spice you don't expect. Kind of wish they didn't just reserve that for the end.
i never really paid any attention to flo and the machine until i watched her on tv at glastonbury and was blown away big fan now :) i recommend you check out more
Some of us older ones grew up on weird stuff. I am 57 yo and when I first heard this song I thought "Wow!" Then I saw the video "WOW!". I LOVE both. Just Brilliant! I thank my Aunt who gave me Bowie's Diamond Dogs album when I was 11yo for turning me on to non-mainstream music. Thanks Aunt Junie
cant believe i missed the live stream where you finally got around to this one, 'shake it out' is another popular one and similar one to this that i think you would enjoy as well, one less known (i think its from the soundtrack to a video game) is 'wish that you were here', the title sounds like a pink floyd cover but its not, and i absolutely love it.
Florence is an artist in lyrics, music, and visuals. Her voice is singularly unique and broad in range, able to create emotion in a split second. Dog Days is her first major single of her first album which took off before she blinked. Every album has great hits and she is really coming into her own with her most recent album, Dance Fever. Her albums reflect her life journey so far. Keep checking out her music. Her live videos show the extreme joy and passion in which she performs. Suggestions are "Hunger", "Shake it Out", "Ship to Wreck", "King" and my current favorite "Free".
Florence and the machine are huuuge yet understated.. she is a genius.. yhe absolute best currently of brit pop i guess... The lyrics to all her songs are lush af but the videos man..ooft they elevate her songs massively.. geniuse
Supreme singer & band, tho’ for me her debut album was perfection and so it has yet to be matched: I recommend: Howl; My Boy Build Coffins; Rabbit Heart; I’m Not Calling You A Liar; Girl With One Eye; Kiss With A Fist; Drumming Song; Between Two Lungs; Never Let Me Go; Heartlines; Heavy In Your Arms; Wish That You Were Here; What Kind Of Man; Shake It Out; Spectrum; Breaking Down; Only If For A Night; Hurricane Drunk; Hardest Of Hearts; Breath Of Life; Swimming; Ship To Wreck; Blinding; Cosmic Love; The Bird Song for starters (lol). And not forgetting her great cover Postcards From Italy - It was her version that introduced me to the band Beirut (now a massive fan of them).
Takes me back to 2010-11 when I was living in Boone, NC. My sophomore year at App and living in the apartment with my buddies. That was a wild year for me.
She's amazing..... She takes her songs like this and slows them down, she's a trained singer. I seen Kayan West on the front row of her concert. She like an Opera singer with an orchestra and choir. You tube has live concerts . Prince Albert Hall, in England. She's had a few hits here this song and one other. Worshipped in England.
Interesting that you thought that folks born in the 60's growing up in the 70's and 80's would be thrown by this. I'm Gen X and LOVE this song. It hits me so hard "Leave all your love and your longing behind, you can't carry it with you if you want to survive" is it!
When this album came out, I picked it up on a whim. I through it on in the car during a lengthy drive. The seasons had just changed from winter to spring, the snow was on its last leg of melting and I'd just got out of a bad relationship. This song could not have fit that moment any better! Rejoice! The dog days are over! What a great feeling - made even better with music :) Thanks, Brad and Lex, for the reminder!
Very unique artist and cool voice and videos. Check out more of their videos. Very artsy electronic indie pop, alternative music of the 2000s. She's influenced by Bjork/Sugarcubes, PJ Harvey, Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac, Nina Hagen, Grace Jones, Grace Slick, Tori Amos, Sioxsee and the Banshees, etc.
🤣😂🤣😂 I love y'all! Whether you know it or not, you just heard my current events set to music! 🙏🏻 Her voice reminds me so much of Grace Slick. Segway time... If you're still unsure about Pentatonix, watch mrduckbear's video of them performing this song on a show called The Sing Off. Granted, it's the last voted-on performance (#12), but it's amazing. And stick around for the judges' comments. 😁 **rubs her hands together in anticipation** 🤣🤣 P.L.U.R.R. from ATX!!

Now everytime I hear this song, that's all I think about and always tear up
I’ve seen this video and it made me cry , so sad that such a young person passed away, respect to Florence for doing this personal performance.
damn it, why did you just trigger my emotions with that flashback!!!
I've seen the video several times. Makes me cry every time when the girl sings along and claps. Beyonce did the same thing singing halo. Check it out ❤
She can REALLY belt out a tune. Powerful voice and a really good band.
Royal albert hall performances or the number she did for Snow white and the Huntsman with a full symphony orchestra.
I saw her play to less than 100 people when this record came out, in a small church hall in London. Jarvis Cocker from Pulp was a special guest. A year later she was number 1 and playing main stage festivals.
Florence is hands down one of the best live shows I’ve seen. So glad y’all are diving in!
She's incredible live!
You guys should react to…
Florence + The Machine - Shake It Out
🎸🤘
Yes! And No light, no light.
She also has a new one out that she collaborated with Dave from Glass Animals called My Love.
What the Water Gave Me is another great song
This is a fun song. This 70 yr old loves the singer’s voice and the percussion. Great tune.
You have excellent taste David! 👌🏻😁
@@TheFairyintheFishBowl, thank you. I agree with your assessment. 😂😂
@@DSquareMusicBucketlist lovely to meet a kindred spirit! 🥰
Florence and Sinead’s vocal signature is called Irish keening, a beautiful banshee spirit wail
This album is incredible! There's also a really touching video of her singing this song at a child's hospital bedside
“No Light, No Light” from the MTV Unplugged session is an absolute must listen!
Florence! Florence Welch is one of the best things to happen to music in the last two decades. I'm so glad you did this song. Please check out "Rabbit Heart" next. (Girl With One Eye and My Boy Builds Coffins are also ones to check out.)
Hospital beds is a song from a lungs B-side that really gets to me.
Loved and still love, alternative, college and late night radio music.
Omg, her voice is phenomenal! I have had the pleasure of seeing her live and it was amazing! I was blown away tbh. Shake it out, Spectrum, Bedroom Hymns, only if for a night, never let me go, seven devils, between two lungs....etc etc
Also, SHIP TO WRECK!!! My second favorite that she sings and performs!!
This 60’s kid loved this
Ive seen her live and she sounded absolutely fantastic. Incredibly pure power in her voice.
You have to see them live, just the sounds and her voice is something to behold lol
I love this video. It is so interesting and fun to watch.
I think the video is fine. No ass shaking and pasties
So many great Florence songs, you are gonna love them.
She is an amazing performer. If you can find a live version of her song you will be amazed.
Born in the 60s, this is freakin' awesome! Quality is quality!
"Never Let Me Go" is my personal favorite. Would love to see yalls interpretation. Love you both!
im so heavy and shake it out are great too
She has amazing voice and so many great songs ,Cosmic Love,Never let me Go,You've Got the Love,No Light No light,Jenny of Oldstones,What Kind of man....
I found the video to be a piece of art. I love it.
She has a beautiful voice, and her choice of melody is awesome.
"no light, no light", "shake it out" those two song is a must
Her MTV Unplugged concert is a showcase for her voice - that will take away the distraction of the video. No Light, No Light is a highlight for me.
Florence can sing her voice is so unique and amazing.
The live versions of her songs showcase her amazing voice. "Never Let Me Go" & "Ship to Wreck" are my faves.
There is a video of her singing this acapela to patients in the hospital. It's incredible. She is definitely powerful and magical. Agree with others, seeing her live performances is where it's at.
She has an unbelievable voice. You’ve got the dirty love with dizzee rascal at the Brit awards is the best performance there’s ever been
“Shake it Out” is one of my personal anthems!!! You’d both love it! It would be so wonderful if you gave it a shot! 👏🏻👏🏻😍
This is from the Daze where music and visuals were married.
I grew up on 60s and 70s music but I love this song. I like the energy. It is a little chaotic like Led Zeppelin.
This band is amazing. Florence is crazy talented as a writer and singer. Definitely check out more of their work.
I love Florence + The Machine. A super underrated one from them is Girl With One Eye.
So happy you got to Florence, love her so much. They have so many great songs you need to react to. Girl with one eye, heavy in your arms, and Only if for a night are some goodies
Florence is absolutely amazing, one of the best voices ever❤️
You have to check out Florence & the Machine - You've got the love live at the Royal Albert Hall. That perfromance is absolutely mind blowing!
She actually said one of her favorite artists is Lil Wayne. PLEASE react to Big God & Seven Devils!!
She reminds me of Siouxsie and the Banshees, check out their songs if you haven't done it, Cities In The Dust or Spellbound.
You HAVE to see her do this live. She has a fantastic voice. Very apt that her first album is called lungs!
Florence Welch has some pipes. Love her voice.
I was born in 1960, but I find this music great. Very original and fun to watch and listen to.
Some say everyone followed David Bowie/ Ziggy Stardust.. when Music became a visual spectacular.
You could just expect to find Florence dancing around stonehenge like some crazy shamen on the solstice.

i was surprise to hear this in GofGalaxy movie ending. It was great timing after crying tears for Drax .....NEVERMIND
Keep going back in your catalog this one will surely please love you

Never Let Me Go is a must from Florence, absolute belter of a track ❤
Uuufff... That's is not a tune, it's THE tune. Great song.

@@lammertklaas I think its the most interesting part of the song. 🤷♂
I like how he says the music video gives avatar vibes and she agrees with him then he says "blue people" and she's like "yeah? air bending"
That impression you did Lex was spot on and great. Well dang done.
Hunger is her best video IMO. The visuals. The lyrics. The sound. It’s perfect.
the greatest voice in her generations
I LOVE this song! You're the first I've seen react to it. Thank you! ❤️
nahh several reactors beat them too it in the last 2 years tbh
YES!!!! THANK YOU!!!! SOOOO GOOOD!
i never really paid any attention to flo and the machine until i watched her on tv at glastonbury and was blown away
big fan now :) i recommend you check out more
I saw Florence at the Bridge School in 2014. To this day it’s the only concert I’ve ever cried at because of the beauty of her voice live.
Reigan Derry sang this on X factor Australia. Check it out. Also check out her other performances. She is incredible.
Maaaan Lex GOT the vibe of this one! You cant not jam TF out to this song!

That one live version goes fucking hard 💯🔥
In terms of shear volume of her voice alone she has no rival. She’s probably got the must powerful voice of any singer male or female 💥
I'm going to have to disagree. If you watch the video of Florence and LP doing this song. LP makes Florence sound like a backup singer
Saw her live a few years back, what an electric show! Absolutely amazing entertainer, check out Ship to Wreck!
Loved this band since I was a kid such a feel good song
You should react to "Never Let Me Go" just to see how different and yet relevant this band is! And Florence has an amazing, powerful voice for sure!
This is such a great song. Works on a pop rock casual audience level and on deeper 'real music fan' levels too.
cant believe i missed the live stream where you finally got around to this one, 'shake it out' is another popular one and similar one to this that i think you would enjoy as well, one less known (i think its from the soundtrack to a video game) is 'wish that you were here', the title sounds like a pink floyd cover but its not, and i absolutely love it.
Nice I love florence welch
This song will always remind me of Janis Joplin if she grew up in this era. Very hippy and very trippy. Love youse guys!
You should watch Florence + the Machine's "No Light, No Light" at the 2012 BRITS

You should hear her live. Incredlible voice and incredible songs.
I believe this song was used in the film Slumdog Millionaire.
I agree with the other commenter about having to watch a live version, I'd definitely recommend the Glastonbury performance

The visuals for each album has very distinctive styles
They are even Better Live !!! Got to watch them on a beach at a music festival in Alabama !! ♥️♥️
Great reaction!!! You got to react to Cosmic Love by Florence and the Machine 🔥🔥
I recommend Hunger, Only if for a night and Wish that you were here by Florence.

Florence + The Machine are so awesome. Live shows are amazingly good. She is a force of nature.
Lots of great Florence and the machine songs to check out
