Well, at least he hasn’t gone mainstream. Because when bands go mainstream, they go bland. This is not bland at all: in fact, I didn’t realize folk music could be as depressing as black metal until now.
? You're basically saying "at least he hasn't gotten successful" I respectfully disagree I wish he would have more followers so there's more people to enjoy the art he makes. I've liked everything he has done but thinking that "mainstream" is bad is exactly what's wrong with the fans and industry. If someone doesn't hit the same you can either adapt to what the artist wants to do or stop listening. Independent artists are always the best "mainstream" (huge following) or not. When rappers/bands/musicians sell their gift of art to a label it becomes a product and that product tips because corporate is getting involved. If xasthur gets more listeners he has even more incentive to provide music. I don't know why you wouldn't want more people hearing wonderful music like this
@@williammunson2508 @William Munson he doesn't have to be mainstream, there's just an attitude that fans have where they think the more followers and money they make, the more they're a "sell-out". Some say he's up shit creek
Dusted on crack, coke and tweak
He’s aging ten years every week
He stood still and never ran
Looking for himself in that garbage can
Living with opportunities blown
The company he keeps leaves him all alone
No cure and no way to heal
A forgettable past and a bad deal
He gave up on himself, they gave up on him
He's up shit creek and doesn't know
How to swim
Throwing away that paddle in your hand
He’s up shit creek, his life didn't go as planned
Some look to yesterday, 'cause tomorrow looks too bleak
That's what happens when you're living on shit creek
A life he didn't ask for, a life he didn't choose
I leave him alone, 'cause he’s got nothing left to lose
Letters to himself he keeps on writing
Refusing to live but keeps on fighting
You can see some of yourself in him
When you’re up shit creek will you know how to swim?
Got the chance to see them play live. It's good knowing there are others out there
