I just bought a single hose AC for my lil trailer and a lot of other vids have issues with single hose. I’m glad yours has worked. Now for me to continue my install! Thanks for the post!
Still going strong! Thanks for watching!
John I noticed the same. This is the first video I've seen for a cargo to camper conversion where the single hose actually seemed to work. Everyone else complained of negative pressure. How is yours working?
Don't forget about condensation. I bought a condensate pump from home depot and ran clear tubbing to pump the condensate water out.
i wanted to do this after a few weekends at my track in the Texas heat. these cargo trailers are much cheaper than a toy hauler
Absolutely, our entire build was under $5k
I have dealt with those portable A/C units and they are very inefficient in hot and humid climates. The reason is they cannibalize the already cooled air to cool the compressor and then exhaust the heated air through a large corrugated hose which acts as a heat radiator. The volume of air exhausted outside the trailer is significant and will create a negative pressure vacuum inside sucking in through every nook and cranny more hot and humid air into the trailer. Without adequate insulation there is no way that trailer will be made comfortable while the sun is out. If your plan is to use it only at night to sleep it may be just barely enough. A better choice would have been a 5-6K BTU window air conditioner, as they keep separated the compressor cooling system to the outside and recirculating cooled air to the inside. Those use less power and can be ran with a small generator, they will cool faster and to a lower temperature during the day and might freeze you at night. Check out some of the installations others have done here on YTube.
Nice job!
You two are going all the way with this.👍 Love it! 😍
👨👩👧❤
😊 thank you
Thanks. I'm going to use this style AC in my mobile barbershop.
of course, it should do a good job. just get the size that correlates to the size of the room you’ll be cutting in 👍🏻
I like the new truck!
I need one for the garage area of my 5th wheel. Cool
STW Custom Trailers LLC - you need a show on the Learning Channel now😎
haha I like it!
That's a great video thanks
Was waiting for this!
Thanks for watching Sam!
Yeah that’s way cheaper than the one we got. It was an overhead ac. Looks cool though! Thanks for sharing!
You bet! I figured with a 6x12 the overhead AC would be overkill, this one seems to be perfect for a small trailer like we have :)
You have great idea I 'll learn from you 👍
Cool, thanks
Nice work man! If you didn't already, I'd paint or undercoat the edges of the hole you cut, to keep moisture out. Any future plans to insulate underneath?
I actually did end up painting the underside, any bare wood. I'm not certain right now, if we ever go to replace the floor I'll most likely insulate it though :)
Hello can we get an update on how that unit perform
How is it still working
Still working great, used it just last month
I know this is an older video, but I was curious if you ever posted how much the trailer cost, and what the final price was after you did all your mods to it?
Hey Sammy, I don't believe I did. I believe we paid $2,600 for the trailer itself and all of the mods including insulation, A/C, flooring, etc. it came out to around $4,000 which isn't bad imo. Hope this helps! :)
What are you guys using to power the AC unit along with the microwave?
We have a drop cord that hooks directly to the trailer and that's plugged into a 15amp circuit at the track that we camp at. I think a 2000 generator would be more than enough though.
Hi, nice job.
I do have a question: what are you using to power the a/c unit when not plugged to the house?
Thank in advance and god bless

I had the same question- below is the info shared
After 8 months of use, what is your thoughts on the AC unit today?
it's doing great!
I know it’s an older video but here I am. How cold does it get in the trailer versus what you have it set at? Would it be able to maintain 74 degrees in the Florida heat?
It'll stay pretty cool as long as you aren't opening the door a ton, I think the hottest day we had was 86 and it kept the trailer around 75 most of the day
@@SALTxTHExWOUND what temp did you have the AC set to?
@@SALTxTHExWOUND are the walls and floor insulated?
Where does the condensation drain?
It has a little bucket that you drain every now and then
How did u run power to everything? Seperate generator or batteries?
