Totally agree! My maternity leave is what made me finally take the leap to start a UA-cam channel for therapists because I know I can't just rely on the 1-1 work with clients.

I completely understand what you’re saying, I want to say it’s ok to not be ok especially as parents of little ones. It is more convenient and less stressful when you are your own boss. What you’re saying is realistic because this is life with kids and you’re just speaking the truth. Thanks for sharing

OMG, thank you so much for being transparent and giving space for me to show myself compassion in this way! This is sooo my story! I have put undue pressure on myself to perform at work and still uphold all my duties as a mom and wife, and IT IS EXHAUSTING! I had to reach out to family to help with childcare, so I can build a virtual private practice. I want to always be available to my children without feeling judged by employers!

I still have guilt because now I just feel bad if I have to cancel or move sessions with patients and feel judged by them 😩. Although they have always been understanding, I just put too much pressure on myself

Thank you so much. Wish I could transport this video back in time to my younger self when I was parenting a young child.

Solid video, the transparency is a gift. A lot of content here that connects to the everyday caregiver. I've done hard labor jobs, but being a FT Dad for a season was the hardest, 2nd was being PT employe & FT Dad. If you're a caregiver reading the comments, shame has no place for all the hard work you do.

This “off cuff” video is the game of life especially if we are caregivers. It’s so unfortunate that our work culture doesn’t acknowledge the additional job that is caregiving. But it’s such a great reminder when we’re being hard on ourselves

Amen! Absolutely loved this video!! Comparison to others is a killer. Acknowledge your limits, accept and do what you choose to do. Thanks for sharing your story. Good luck potty training.

I literally have a 6 week old. And it's my first. This could not be more on time for me 😫

I’m doing my Associate hours in the final years of trying to have kids (4 years before 40). I’m nervous that being pregnant while flooding my body with stress and cortisol is not healthy. I also feel discouraged that I can care for a baby if I’m seeing clients 8 hours a day multiple days a week because then that requires my partner to care for baby and he’s the sole provider. It just doesn’t seem to add up to work out realistically.

Working definitely affects your parenting. You got your priorities inverted.

Or her priorities are right. Her work wouldn't be affected if she placed work above parenting, would it?
