The cucurella shout is insane. It's almost like you watched none of Chelsea last season. After he came back from a big injury also - he was one of our best players in the latter stage of the season and played the inverted full back role amazingly.
He is still a massive liability. He's not good enough for Chelsea.
It really is - same with Enzo not suiting Poch which completely overlooked Enzo playing through a hernia all season. Man is good at the stats but clearly doesn't watch enough of actual games.

@@quansahnana499 yes he was defensively sound but thats not enough in Maresca's side. you need to be able to play forward between the lines but the stats show that most of his passes were sideways and backwards, james or chilwell in that position would play more forward
Chillwell over Cucurella is insane. After inverting him, he's been phenomenal and he has earned his spot as starting LB. Colwill is much better off as a CB.

You’ve completely missed the point Cucu is an awful left back and a liability in the squad under Enzo it’s the RIGHT back not left that inverts which leave Cucu exposed on the left better to play Levi as a LCB or Chilwell who can actually defend
@@newgameplus1557 The LB comes in as a 3rd CB, something that goes COMPLETELY against what Chilly is good at. Cucu has played and even excelled in that role earlier in his career, Cucu fits the system FAR better than Chilly does. And besides, it doesn't HAVE to be the RB going into midfield, the system could easily just flip to fit the squad lol
why not mirror his tactic, invert one full back and overlap the other, same with the dewsbury-hall roll. chilly is much better at going forward but cucurella is much better at inverting, gusto and reece would be fine to do either, nkunku and palmer could both play the dewsbury-hall roll on opposite sides.

You lost me when u did not prefer cucurella over chillwell in the inverted LB he literally caused our change in form, chillwell has never played there and hasn't shown the quality to play there

Lol short minded, highlights viewers. Cucurella has been really good in midfield but still has his massive flaws in defending. We've never seen Ben chillwell inverted, but we've seen the level of defensive solidity he has even while bombing up and down that left flank.

Anyone who knows anything half decent about goalkeeping would never play Petrovic over Sanchez.. There was a reason Sanchez was playing even against the likes of Peterborough etc.
Petrovic is a good shot stopper but that's about it. He even cost us the draw vs Burnley and Sheffield

I personally think you’d be better off switching the full back roles where RB tucks in centrally and the LB moves into midfield this would suit the players we have as Cucurella been doing that so effectively which then means Colwill can shuffle into the left of a back 3 and James would be perfect playing the Walker role at RB
James is too much of an offense threat to leave in a back three imo. Obviously he’d be good there but putting him in the inverted midfield role would allow him to be more on the front foot and be in areas he can affect the game with crosses and shots from outside the box. I can see the back three being Levi LCB Badi CB Fofana RCB when Reece inverts.

A lot of that team is spot on imo, Chilwell I don’t think gets a sniff though, either Cucurella in there or another LB/LCB hybrid signing for that area, and I also think RCB Fofana (if fit) Chalobah (if kept) are way more likely and if not a signing is required, Disasi occupying those channel runners on the break is exactly how we would get caught out (Leicester did with Faes and Vestergaard at times last season due to that channel recovery)

I agree with alot of your points but theres no way in hell Chilwell gets a place in Maresca's system. His technical quality is very poor, in tight spaces especially, and he lacks the composure to play precise passes out from the back, not even to mention his injury record which means he can't be trusted for large stretches of the season. Colwill moving to LB and tucking in looks likely, as does Cucurella getting a run in the team. Chilwell I'd expect to be sold/phased out and another LB/CB hybrid to be bought

You said exactly what anybody that got a clue would say.. chilwell lacks composure to make those simple precise passes all chelsea fans remember him for was bumping forward and getting a goal I mean even Scot McTominay scores a lot of goals yet everybody knows he ain’t such a good footballer, Cucurella may not be the most technical or explosive but he does the basics so well he doesn’t get lost in possession or overthink it and if you watch him passes into midfield it’s as simple and precise as you can get

Ya know Trevoh Chalobah exists? And he has been fit for the last few months. In fact, Chelsea were unbeaten in every match Chalobah started this season. He's perfect for a possession side. Good passing range, can carry the ball really well for a CB and can flex positions well. Hes a very versatile CB and many Chelsea fans consider him to be better technically than Disasi. They also quite rightly feel Badiashile has been a total liability when hes played this past season.
I think he understands that the team is bent on selling him. I could be wrong...but all the talk on the wire has been that the team is going to sell him and Conor.
Agree with most of this except no mention of cucurella, who’s been a ball playing midfielder essentially for chelsea, and chillwell has been shocking for 2 years now
No chance for Chilwell. Isn’t technically secure enough. Cucurella can play LCB and can invert if needed. Chelsea should sell Chilwell and sell a similarly versatile upgrade on Cucurella.

The way I see it, the ideal team would have Hernandez and Caicedo in midfield, and Reece on the overlap wide. Nkunku and Palmer play as the two tens with Mudryk as the left-wide player.

As a Chelsea fan i must say that we can't rely and should not put pressure on Jackson and actually buy a CF that's ready.
Jackson could come off the bench with much less pressure and work on his finishing.
We need a better goalkeeper,a centre back definitely and we have to address our left wing because Mudryk was forced into this level just like Salah or Vini Jr and the rawness is evident and Sterling had far too many chances to prove he still has it so he needs to go.
I think a imposing LB like Max Mittelstaedt of Stuttgart would be great on the opposite flank for when Reece James inverts
As much as I have respect for Enzo maresca, I don’t think he will last at Chelsea unless Todd has patience and sees the project through, but I am excited to see how Chelsea plays under the Italian pep

@@StatmanDave what does he even bring to the table though? There is literally nothing original about the way he plays, and on top of that he is extremely one-dimensional. Championship sides adapted to him in half a season, now imagine prem teams with already one season's worth of data. I worry that he isn't just dogmatic but mediocre. The guy failed in serie b but he'll succeed in the prem? Hopefully I'm wrong but there were just so many better options. Not to mention that Poch's "style" was all about playrs being free, whereas Maresca's is a strict set of positional rules and principles everybody has to follow? How does that transition even happen?
@@StatmanDave He hit the ground running with Leceister though and was praised for how quickly he got them playing his style... It was the end of the season where Leceister started dropping points like crazy some fans actually wanted him gone out of fears he was bottling promotion.

@@monoapoel234 why does it have to be new? He plays the way that football is heading, possession based, strict positional football. Last seasons counter attacking, hit and hope, reckless football is not sustainable and so many wins, Chelsea looked terrible and got extremely lucky under Poch, their was no tactics, no nuance or developing of players traits and intelligence with the ball. If you watched Leicester's games which they struggled, that had very little to do with Enzo not setting up his team properly. Every game they dominated, and their players went on a bad run of confidence, most games had an xG of 4.0+ goals, missing 3-4 clear cut chances every game. Enzo's system relies on technically sound personnel, which Chelsea have in abundance, outside of Palmer, there is nobody who is just gifted to have free reign and roam wherever he wants. Enzo will develop these youngsters to understand how to play, how to move in any circumstance.
Valles would be the best option for Chelsea in GK, cheap, last year of contract, great shot stopper and one of the best ball playing GK's in Europe.
At LB, it has to be either Colwill if James inverts or Cucurella if Maresca inverts from the left. But either way, Chilwell has absolutely no place in this system, he's horrible on the ball and not intelligent enough, so can't invert and not defensive enough to stay back into the back 3 in possession, if they get countered.
I like the idea of Enzo starting from deep as the playmaker, like Winks, getting 140+ touches per game will suit him best but I worry about him as a 6, he struggles defensively, physically and his lack of athleticism hinders him on the transition. I really think you need Lavia in there, someone who is a bit more positionally disciplined, good on the ball, calm under the press and more defensively minded as first instinct.
I think most of this is good but imo youre well off with chilwell and colwill at left back chilwell hasnt been good for 2 years at all and colwill is much better at CB. Cucurella and a new LB imo.

Chelsea are much more suited to inverting the LB side than the rb. Cucurella has even shown at the end of last season that hes more than capable of playing that and definitely better than Chilwell at that. I feel at times we get too stuck on the inverting rb or lb when the real principle Maresca wants his a box midfield. Also disasi won't start over Fofana actually if Chalobah isn't sold he will be ahead of Disasi for that role too.
Stopped watching when he chose Chilwell over Cucurella lol. Besides having an English passport, Chilwell has absolutely nothing over Cucurella. Not one thing and definitely not at being an inverted full back. Cucurella playing that role literally transformed our season under Pochetinno but this man here would rather choose someone that's never played the role lol. Typical english fan.

I believe that caicedo would be perfect for the inverted wing back role with hernandez as the deeper midfielder as you cannot rely on reece James to be fit all season
I'm very unsure about Enzo Fernandez playing as that holding midfielder.. might suit Caicedo more imo, just judging from his time at Brighton. I think with a 6 behind him and an inverted fullback holding the midfield, I think Enzo could play well higher up the pitch with a creative player like palmer next to him. I wouldn't rely on him for output, but I think he can hold the ball high up the pitch and allow the rest of the top 5 to cause chaos. However, the one position I think chelsea should consider is a solid centre back with a bit of experience, how can play off the back but can also protect the box as a last man centre. Also someone who can be a leader to the rest of the backline (Something chelsea might miss from Thiago Silva). Second priority would be considering getting a sweeper keeper, and lastly getting centre forward. I would make centre forward my last priority Palmer and Nkunku could both play as false 9's, I system that has proven to be deadly for all the top teams for the last 5 years +, and I believe Nicholas Jackson deserves a chance for a fall year. My point is, if Chelsea wants to spend 100m on a single player, I'd say let it be an all rounded world-class and fairly experienced CB. Then the other positions should be slowly assessed and improved according to how Enzo wants to play.
And, I hope Chelsea fans and the board can be patient with Maresca, it could take time for some of the players to adapt to his system, plus his also will be getting experience himself. In addition to that, most the players are young and will only get better with time with a stable, CONSISTANT coaching system.
When you think managers won’t adjust to the squad they have. Chelsea are much more suited with left back inverting and Reece being a rcb and then switch it if gusto is playing.
Guys here are talking as if Chilwell cannot be a GREAT inverted fullback. He's got great technique and passing range when on full form and when fit he certainly can do what Cucurella did and almost certainly more. Think diagonal passes to Palmer and Madueke with his left foot. ...

For me Cucurella on the left playing inverted works and seems daft to change and it will take a portion of the season to adapt. I think he stays with a 4231 as Poch was doing and having Galladog and Caicedo in the midfield which has been working well with Caicedo putting in some brilliant performances towards the end of season, why throw it all away. And with this 4231 it changes into a 325 going forward. With Cucu pushing into midfield and Galladog pushing further on with Palmer in there.
Madueke was playing well as right winger and even Mudryk was looking better on the left. The problem for me is the ST, Jackson is looking better but someone who knows where the goal is would be better. Jackson also looks OK on the left.
Perhaps Nkunku could be our secret weapon like if we are playing a striker and we are struggling then Nkunku could come on and play the false 9 role and then we win 8-0, hahahaha.
The squad needs sorting out ASAP and then build from there and the players that were playing well in that Poch's system we need to keep but obviously with Boehly we know it won't.
That left back Colwill and Cucurela would fit. But the problem with Cucurela is Arial Duels and height...
Malo gusto is not good at Inverting, he's good at overlaps... Reece James has Expirience and also played as a CM in he's academy days....
This system is going to be a problem at Chelsea because our Central Midfielders are not goal threats. Enzo lacks accuracy and is way too deep to be a threat or Add numbers upfront... Just like Caicedo who make mistakes when we are playing against a High pressing team he's the weakest link with Badiashile.....
Nkuku and chukwumeka if they can be fit, this system is built for players like them.... i Just wish Madueke can be given game time and let him take-on Defenders and play those cut-back passes...

Cucurella shout is so brian dead - have you watched us towards the end of the season? Poch literally got the best out him by playing him as an inverted full back. Chilwell is not that type of player either.
The Enzo take is not great either - Poch got some decent games from him. I'd argue the issue was playing 3 midfielders (Caicedo, Enzo, and Gallagher) as we always looked better with just two including games with Enzo and Gallagher early in the season before Caicedo joined. More importantly Enzo has played through a hernia in his groin all season and only got a surgery recently. Don't think it was him not fitting Poch's style or atleast it's not clear that Poch's style was the issue w/ Enzo
I think James could play the right center back . With gusto playing right back. Or even transition caicedo to a right back, however in transition he will the right pivot.
Enzo will invert the left back that is cucurella because he's great at it and drop James in a make shift 3 where he can move forward at times . Also mudryk will fit like a glove in this Enzo team
James and Enzo in the midfield would be great.
The long balls would be getting sprayed either side of the pitch. James might get forward more centrally again and could see him getting goals again .
I think enzo maresca will probably play 3 starting cbs which will start as back 4 with james or gusto but will become a 3 in position. Disasi in just because fofana is never fit. Giving us rest defence in 3-2

This squad is not even bad a Top CB and Goalkeeper a striker and maybe another winger there is no reason this Team shouldn't compete for a UCl spot we literally made the Carabao Cup final and FA Cup semifinals with injuries and inconsistent players Let hope Maresca has what it take though.
Colwill was awful when Poch played him as a LB. He was rated as one of the best CBs when he had his loan to Brighton. Hence why Brighton tried anything to keep him. Colwill + Fofane(when fit) is a CB partnership for years to come. Maresca started imo with an inverted LB and switched to the RB. My guess would be: Cucurella LB and inverting. Colwill, Fofane and James as RB. Gusto will get enough minutes next season. With Conference League we have approx 60 games on our hands. So rotation will be a given.

We showed patience to CUCURELLA but not JACKSON... I say we get Sesko or stick with NICO. Oshimehn is a luxury we don't particularly need. Jackson has shown that with strict boundaries he can lead the line in a modern way. Nkunku will be key to getting the team to a world class standard. We simply cannot line up without him when fit.

Not currently no, but that would’ve been my first choices if we couldn’t theoretically had anyone. A few years ago with Roman it might have been more realistic but currently I guess people like de zerbi, McKenna and maresca are the options we have because we need them to fit the new ideology. I don’t really care how we play, I just want us to win. Was some horrible games under mourinho and conte (and even Benitez) but we were winning 🤷🏾♂️
Colwill should play in an LCB role, can't move him to lb. And gallagher is 100% not staying because of the predicament SDs have landed us into.

What Maresca should do is keep his tactics the same but just flip with the LB going into midfield instead of the RB. Then run Caicedo as the LB so he can tuck into midfield like he did with De Zebri. Then the back 3 would be Colwill, Fofana, and Reece. In midfield run Enzo at DM with Gallagher and Nkunku in front giving us a box to box midfielder and a playmaking/scoring midfielder. Nkunku has always been more of a CAM than out and out ST. RW easy, always Palmer. LW and ST is where you get creative and use the players who has the best skill set to work in this system. LW Hutchinson all day, his ability to play make, dribble, and pop up with a goal are incredible. Then ST you play Mudryk and finally get the best out of him, if you watched him this season he’s great at finishing inside the box, his pace will frighten any back line, and his first touch will come in greatly when linking up play.

Honestly, crazy when I see all these "tacticians" online give their opinions based on how Leicester were set up by Enzo last season and they have absolutely not clue, like they didnt even watch more than 1 or 2 games. Even the wingers, they mostly just start hugging the touchline, but very often come inside to overload the midfield, sometimes Fatawu and Mavidi took on their man 1 on 1 but not often. When Daka started, he often dropped deep to help with build up, it was more when Vardy came in, he did it less frequently due to age and lack of athleticism.
