    Great instruction. Been doing this for a while. I notice that once you get some proficiency, the sledgehammer makes it more mentally engaging than a macebell as it takes more focus to hit the tire cleanly with the head of the hammer. It carries through to when you want to actually use the sledge for work too.

      There’s an area in my town where people dump their larger items that the garbage truck won’t take.
      I passed by there today and saw at least 20 tires of different sizes.
      I want to build an obstacle course one day but I don’t want my yard to look like a dump with a bunch of old tires.

    I grew up chopping wood with my dad. I stand in what's essentially a taekwondo square stance, so right foot in the rear when swing right-handed, opposite for left hand. I like the balance and stability more than standing in a standard straddle stance. I used to be a wood chopping machine, and my dad and I would see who could out-chop who lol.

    • @ThatGuyHealth
      @ThatGuyHealth  2 роки тому

      This is an awesome question!!! I have considered getting a macebell for some time and never made the move. I tried one and actually thus far prefer the sledge hammer. I feel a better grip with the sledge hammer, especially as the palms begin to sweat. I do believe over time the macebell will have less wear on the tire due to its completely rounded end. The sledge hammer also offers dual purpose should I ever need to break through something, LOL! I may have to order one and do a review for us all! Thanks for being a subscriber!

    I am happy I looked at this video before I started swinging a sledgehammer.
    As a gardener I have used a sledgehammer, but just to remove a stump once or twice and I swung it a bit like a golf club.
    LOL! My 8pound sledgehammer still looks brand new.
    I just found out about Odin's Hammer and I'm doing research by looking at videos.
    I would love a hammer that counts for me and later one that moves a gear because this seems boring to me if it doesn't move a gear. I love bicycle riding because it moves me. I want the hammer to move something.
    I love John Henry.
    Great video!
    Thank you.

    Been doing sledgehammer workouts for some time now.
    My biggest problem is that it'll shred the skin on the inside of my hands (especially the callus close to the fingers built up from lifting) and also cause pretty big blisters.
    I've tried putting on sports tape And gloves, but it don't help. Even my gloves get ruined after a couple of these workouts :,D

    • @edward9421
      @edward9421 3 роки тому +2

      I definitely understand your situations. I have been through that and literally just let my body build it's on protection after using the hammer and making it through the phase of the body scabbing and building pads. Now I have no issue. You could also try this chalk. amzn.to/3wqk4zz

    • @darriusleaphart5620
      @darriusleaphart5620 Рік тому

      Lather your hands with weight lifting chalk aka sports chalk-then procure and wear some atlas gloves; you might need to apply more chalk on your hands in between reps, but the combination of the chalk and the atlas gloves should help tremendously with protecting your skin as you perform this workout.

    • @arthas640
      @arthas640 Рік тому
