@@Skip_Loomhmmm idk, popping of with a high skilled mon is a pretty good way to show off against ur opponents. Thats why I always try to use high skilled mons. I wouldnt mind losing to a pro, but to a glaceon/espeon? Nope.

If you dont have it already, gyarados is really strong in the current meta, inteleon, if youre willing to put in the time, is incredibly strong still(but has a massive learning curve), and if dodrio or zoro are characters youd be willing to put time into, both are also doing really well currently. Glaceon is very strong, and easy to play, so a good call for sure... as for defenders, the top 3 right now are tree, blastoise and crustle, so if you are missing one of those i guess that would be a good pick-up, but you said you own tree, blast is given for free, and crustle used to be given for free, so depending on when you started you kight already have the top 3 defenders. Umbreon is also strong right now, but post nerf is seeing way less play, so hard to fully recommend.
U know what's worse about duotrio now? He has no counter aside from glacion and entelion point and click, because he can just full heal out of pika tackle. I already miss umbreon RIP.
There are quite a few Dodrio counters. Espeon and Blastoise are very annoying. Muddy/Spray Goodra is also pretty rough with the slows. A9/Delphox (spin) are soft counters that can be a lot of trouble in team fights.
I don't get how it's possible for someone who plays as much as him to not have all gold emblems by now. I feel like he just shows silvers to seem more relatable to newbies
