I'm a young white Jewish kid from Quebec and I hear this blaring from the room above me 2 nights ago and instead of complaining I went upstairs and asked who this was and to turn it up louder! I took out my bass and started jamming to it!
Yo, yo, you not gonna believe what I found in the dumpster out back of my apartment but a 2 x 3 foot poster hardboard with in bold lettering " KING TUBBY AT THE CONTROLS " pictures of Tubby at his Pirate Radio Station in Jamaica and other dub and reggae artists. I am overwhelmed with emotion that I have this poster and how someone could not have found a local Reggae Bar whom would hang it up on their wall, even if a hallway wall....Man I Am Blessed, I hope Bob see's me digging it out dusting it off....it's now hanging proudly in my music studio :)
Me and a bag of mushrooms about 10years ago , i had the maddest trip listening to this, literally melted into the chair , was blown away by how this sounded.. even now as i listen today sober ,it sounds great!! King Tubby should be part of everyone's diet.
Today's Dance Hall "music" just simply can't compete with the music of that era. This simply takes you on a musical adventure as you immerse yourself in the mixing skills of King Tubby. Pure bliss.
Dub is best played with a really powerful sound system, then you appreciate far more, when the bass shakes the flesh on your bones, you feel you, the true vibe comes through. Its not about loud, its about reaching those deep bass sounds, and that can be low volume levels. Big speakers are the essence.
Poor man solution these days is to get a Bluetooth speaker and place it on your cheek bones,so the bass spreads through your head. I find that a good way to "show" people how they should feel the music to appreciate it. Your comment is right 100%, bless

You're never too young to know music. The oldest most distinguished musicologist in the world could say he was too young to know Bach or Scarlatti or Handel cos they were all born in 1685 and it was before his time but they don't because, like I said, you're never too young to know music.

Pioneering sound lord of the dub sound system. John Peel brought this futuristic music, in the mid 80's and I have now amassed all the dub artists from that era. As well as the new stuff like - Aphex twin, boxcutter, ect. ♥️💣💣🗯💥🕊🕊😛🤑🤑
I used to listen to John Peel late at night when I should have been doing my school homework. I was already hooked on reggae but via him I learned about U2, The Smiths, etc before they made it big. Only 1 or 2 reggae tunes per hour if I remember correctly. Stay safe.
@@pauljohnpinkybennett3557 Yes miss him too. His deadpan delivery, playing and liking music that he liked, not using a playlist, him not being one of the cheesy radio one DJs like Tony Blackburn, Noel Edmonds or David Hamilton. Because of him I must be one of the only few of Caribbean descent who knows a lot about Punk, Two Tone, Electronic, Susie and the Baniches (spelt wrong I know), simple Minds, Ian Curtis and many others. sorry man I'm too old/ out of touch to know the bands that you mentioned :)

There will never be quite nothing like 60s, 70s, 80s Jamaican music
The bass lines in Reggae and Dub are the best of any music genre/ style in the world. In my opinion.
Totally agree with you, those fat, heavy, heavy basslines seem to really resonate with my psyche, that's why I love Dub Reggae so much.
Today's Dance Hall "music" just simply can't compete with the music of that era. This simply takes you on a musical adventure as you immerse yourself in the mixing skills of King Tubby. Pure bliss.
well still sounds as great as ever... and now on semi-lock-down, and a spliff (or two), wont hurt.........*
a spliff a day keep the cov 19 away.
relatable, lockdown took me back to dub and well two-spliffs-a-day came naturally

Good test is to get a book and try to read,if your vision don't blur on deep bass notes, it's not proper set up :)
