My favorite house! It’s Rei Kawakubo, not buko, who’s a legend in fashion. And yes, it’s ‘like the boys’ which is loosely based on a song Rei liked at the time.
Love that the Dalia colabs are back ,she has a unique take on fragrances that always seem to make sense and she won’t be swayed by anything lol she also brings out the best in you Seb your on top of your game when she does the colab vids, cause that’s what good friends do ,bring out the best in us .wonderful video guys let’s not shy away from some more gems like this ✌️🙏
This is what I was waiting for! I’m a freak for cdg clothes and perfumes since the 90’s so freaking niche, own almost all the fragrances ! I love Rei Kawakubo she’s my muse ! 🖤
This was a fantastic video! I appreciated the wide range of CDG fragrances described and hearing descriptions from both of you was really wonderful... Sometimes it is tricky to understand how something might smell by simply reading the note breakdown and, sadly, it is tricky to smell these in real life, so it is helpful to hear your descriptions. Really great work!
Yay so nice to see Dalya again! I never miss an episode with Dalya or Dana in it. I’ve been curious about Daphne by CDG, a collaboration with Daphne Guinness that was discontinued but rereleased recently. Have you tried it?
Yay 😀 Dalia is back . Well done Sebastian. Next video should be beast mode sillage , projection or long lasting , but updated , if there is something new and nuclear ☢️.
I did have a giggle about missing the whole point of Serpentine, which is referencing a wandering through Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park...the Serpentine being the name of the lake. Clever Rei! But glad you both loved 2 have loved that fragrance for twenty years and that underlying ink accord really intrigues most bystanders it smells like nothing else.
Need to try many of the brand, never smelled one. But 2, INCENSE AVIGNON and Copper would be the ones I'm more interested in. Good to see you guys, as always a pleasure!!!
Black is so underrated. It's a gothic masterpiece to me, and is up there with any of my Amouage scents and sits comfortably with something like Black Afgano. Totally different scents but same super bold segment
Standard and Soda I want! And the way you concluded your quick initial description of soda with "Soda" while holding it up for us to see is BEYOND adorable Sebastian ☺️☺️ I can just tell it would be a pleasure to be in your company. You have one of the most magnetic personalities ever 🥰
The Black Dalya is back!! Love your synergy together, from the sandalwood video and now this. One thing though was that there was NO mention of Floriental by Comme Des Garçons.
In Italy, 'Marseille soap' is known simply as a generic type of soap, it doesn't necessarily come from the city itself and it's the opposite of expensive and luxurious, it's sold in supermarkets and used traditionally to clean around the house (laundry etc), more than as a fancy personal hygiene product. Long winded premise to say that when I randomly smelled this perfume at Dover Street Market the other day I was brought back instantly to beautiful childhood memories at home with my mum. I have never purchased a fragrance so quickly. I loved it instantly. Found this video while searching more information about this fragrance. Pleased to know you love it too. Great video!
I am so glad you did this series. I first got into this fragrance obsession from the Black Pepper bottle (that I was surprised/not surprised to see did not make it on this list!). As long as I have been watching this channel I’ve always been curious why CDG fragrances took a backseat to other makers, and this was such a nice surprise in my day. I have been turned on to so many other gems I was unfamiliar with. Thanks for making my weekend !
I loved, loved, loved this video and you and Dalya interacting is double the fun! I have quite a lot of Comme des Garcons perfumes but your video gave me insight on some others (as if I need even one more perfume, but of course I do and always will!
@19:00 Monocle has amazing coffee tabel books. For example "The Monocle Guide to Cosy Homes". So i think its a collabo between Monocle and Comme des Garcons. I likeeeyyyy :)
So I've seen Dahlia on before, but have never been sure about who you are to each other. Are you married, friends or do you know each other through UA-cam? Anyway, I always enjoy these videos!
❤ my CDG frags....unique creativity by many great perfumers. One of my favs is 8 88. It would be cool if Copper would turn green after a few years. Hey Dalya.
Great video Sebastian. I need to sample that Marseille which you been mentioning quite a bit lately. But from this brand I love Celluloid Galbanum and Dot. Both very original scents to me.
The Standard scent is in collaboration with the danish wood furniture company ARTEK which logo is also on the bottle. The scent is meant to smell of pencil and wood shavings from a carpentry shop.
If it's available in your country, the iris body powder from Goya (at Checkers in South Africa) smells like a femme version of Comme des Garcons 2 Man (not the Man 2 mentioned in this video). If you can't get enough iris in your fragrance, you might want to get your nose on a sample of 2 Man or dust a bit of the powder on before you apply another fragrance.
Rouge is the first thing you turned me on to, and I smell it exactly like you, Sebastian. Maybe the male nose works different from the female one? Just like you, the beet "yells" immediately but in the most beautiful way, then I start catching the nuances of incense and geranium. Very rarely I vaguely pick up mint. We seem to smell it exactly the opposite to the way Dahlia does. How interesting.
No, correction, first thing you turned me on to was Jovoy La Liturgie des Heures. Rouge was second, but the first I bought in person, immediately, in Ukraine. I had to wait till I got back to the States to find La Liturgie waiting for me at home.
@@ThePerfumeGuy Yes! ZGO used to carry them, not sure if they still do. Scent Bar still has the 1994 fragrance in store. Sadly the 2011 fragrance seems to have been relegated to online only - not surprising given its notes of Industrial tape and Glue! but it’s a majestic floral and an odd beauty. highly highly recommend both
Hi! You were close Dalya: "comme des garçons" means "like boys" not "like the boys"...😉 Always great videos, good job Sebastian! 😀 Greetings from Portugal
Guys, I think that Serpentine's "Park in the city" feel reflects that it could have been inspired by Serpentine Gallery that lies in the middle of Hyde Park in London.
CDG Black and Black Pepper are my absolute favourites! There seemed to be quiet some hype around CDG around a decade ago. Any idea about their current popularity/'relevance'?
Hi Sébastian thank you for great content as always for presenting this house. What is your view about Wonderwood & Oud, from South Africa 🇿🇦 Joburg South.
Great video you two!! Being a Beast mode and sillage Monster, I didn't notice this being mentioned. I did read one bottle which said Eau de Toilette, one step down from Eau de Parfum. Would some carry the wallop I crave and longevity? Thanks for any suggestions 🤗
A Dior commercial came up with Robert Pattinson right before you said that Black was a fragrance Batman would wear. Just saw the movie yesterday.😀 But what perfume would Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman wear?
Hi Sebastian, thanks for all the lovely videos you upload. I enjoy your reviews. I have noticed you like Diorissimo. I do too and own two vintage versions of it plus Lily by Dior. I used to love CDG 2 but it’s quite common in Greece where I live. I find Daphne truly exceptional and I have heard it will be available again. I can’t get Marseille that easily but your account makes me wanna try. To get to my question, I just found Calamus and Lily. Which one do you consider more interesting ? I also love some of the first they did but can’t remember whether it was 3 or Odeur 53. Do you find Serpentine quite similar ? What I find similar among them is the sense of explosion they all share. They are so naturally invigorating, funny, joyful and metallic at the same time if it makes sense. Unusual but easy to follow and love. Audace by Rochas has been my all time favorite. I constantly seek discontinued and vintage ones ( please do upload videos on forgotten gems) which is far away from CDG’s sense of contemporanity but I do want one by the house of Rei. What do you think ??? I have said enough 🙏😛 sorry 🌱
Both Calamus and Lily are so good. I find they have some similarities and major differences but calamus has this succulent vegetal quality that I find so unique. So go with Calamus first I suppose but it's a toss up! :)
@@ThePerfumeGuy Instead of Calamus I decided to invest on another discontinued fragrance you have suggested. I chose Coconut Fizz by Guerlain and you are right, it is wonderful. Thanks 🙏

Now Bruce Wayne is another story all together. Just joking go ahead and have fun imagining. That is one movie I do want to see in the near future. Thanks guys.

Speaking of fresh cut grass, remember when The Gap had fragrances? "Grass" was one of my favorites. Pretty realistic. Dream was another good one
Oh yes of course. I remember those quite a bit! :)
