Back when I met Michael at some local amateur events he was a really cool low key dude. He told us he has a love/hate relationship with the sport of boxing. When he was talking to us about this it was a few months after he lost the title to Foreman. I told a buddy of mine his career will never be close to as big as the night he beat Holyfield. From what I can see or hear there wasn't any fire in his eyes or desire to dominate and prove he was the best. I met quite a few fighters of Note, and all of them had a different demeanor about them, even the ones well past their prime.
as a trainer you hate to see a talented guy that actually has disdain for boxing. thats why ill never support or buy a jared anderson fight. fcuk that waste of space
Emmanuel said in the video that Moorer really doesn`t like boxing and I`m reading your comment. I saw a recent interview of him and it backs everything up. He said he wants a Super HW division to open cause guys today are just too big. I could tell he has a love/hate relationship with boxing.
I remember waiting for this fight for a few months and I was pumped about it 😂😂😁😂 Oh man I didn't have time to even Pop the popcorn 🍿 and it was over 😂 but this fight was proof that Tua could beat anyone with just one punch, I always liked Moorer cause he was a talented fighter and was hoping that Moorer would have fought Lewis, Tyson, Klitschkos but he really dwindled out of the top rank after this fight but so did Tua, Tua vs Tyson is the fight I always hoped for
I love how the whole 30 secs this fight lasted, the HBO talking heads explained how Moorer could make it a tough fight for Tua . . and then he was unconscious.
His drive and love for the sport was toast and just showing up for a paycheck, when Moorer was determined he was a great fighter, if the Moorer that fought Holyfield in 1994 showed up then I believe Moorer would have out boxed Tua but like any other man, if Tua catches you with head shots it's all over. Very disappointed in this fight 😂 I waited eagerly for months to see it 😂 :30 seconds 😆
That's not true at all. Moorer never lost his heart. He always fought to the bitter end. This fight was just a matter of Tua's power and Moorer's chin. Moorer's chin wasn't bad, but just couldn't hold up to Tua's power.
Michael Moorer speaks very eloquently these days, he seems to have avoided brain damage like a lot of champions from that time. It always seemed as though his chin was a bit weak for the division being a bulked up light heavy, but perhaps that prevented him from taking huge amounts of brain trauma as he just got shut off.
David looking very emotional in this highlight after the fight!,... Question would have to be pondering,... Kevin where is Davids money!?,... Stop stealing from Joseph!,...
I think Tua was an under-achiever too. He seemed almost like he was bored and never seemed to use a higher gear when he should have. In the end he was just another good fighter who really didn't have the heart for the sport. That said, Damn he destroyed Moorer with those body shots! Just shows what he was capable of.
Yip underachieving good view of it actually. If I’m guessing just trying to think of his mindset and what most Ronnie shields said Lou duva said that Tua was the most potential but just didn’t do the extra 10% you need light a match under his arse etc … but then Tua never been hurt and most of the time he usually finds a way to knock you out I can see why he never pushed harder never trained harder never had a mindset of I’m gonna outwork you and break you down because that requires lot more fitness lot more training and Tua maybe thought nah I’m good haha
I know pro boxers take dives all the time, whether its in the contract or they just want to go home. But that glazed look in Moorer's eyes after being punched is pretty hard to fake.
Tua, unfortunately, had 2 disadvantages as a heavyweight boxer. He was short and took a lot of punches (not necessarily hard ones, but to get points). Tua had a solid chin, but on the score cards, it worked against him.
He was also a victim of coming from the wrong part of the world and not having a great manager. The rot in heavyweight boxing started in the 90's and a fighter like Tua was too often ducked, he only had one title shot his entire career yet he knocked out 4 fighters that went on to become heavyweight champions.
Well once Tua incorporated a right hand in his punching arsenal he became more dangerous, the reason for Tyson avoiding Tua was the Ibeabuchi fight after that match many promoters in the heavyweight division did their best to avoid Tua.
@@Juggernaut934Tysons prime was mid to late 80's. Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, Bowe, Mercer, etc. were all the same generation/age. Tyson turned pro as soon as he could (& went on to become the youngest heavyweight champion ever) while those other guys took baby steps to the pros not becoming relevant until the early 90's. At only 18 yrs old Tyson wasn't afraid to jump in to the fire.
Poxa pena que tyson não estava no seu melhor no regresso aos ringues pois ele teria atropelado holyfield, Lews, Dany wiliams, Riddick bowe etc. E contraTua seria uma batalha de titans.
I don't think so. Rahman boxed the turkey stuffing out of him the second time they fought, but was cheated with a draw, yet Tua said he thought he had won. In the first fight with Rahman, Tua deliberately hit Rahman after the 🛎, and the referee stopped the fight in the next round, when Tua had hardly landed any punches. That fight was fixed.
tua maimed ruix in like 30 seconds makes you wonder how he didint even land one solid crack on lewis. lewis is great but with tua s talent still think he should ve done better

Weakest chin as a heavyweight. George Foreman barely touched Moorer and he was out cold. Michael is lucky he didn't get hit with Razor Ruddocks left hook/uppercut, a brutal punch.
David is so humble and full of respect among his opponents, no trashy talk and that’s a heart of a true islander ❤😊

Doesn’t matter what Moore wanted to do. He just didn’t have a good chin.

Tua knew immediately that he was going to walk straight through Moorer. Zero respect shown
