Velya then took a band of companions to go find the clutch where the journal described they'd be and released them from the magical suspended animation. The book ends with one of the eggs hatching, seemingly free from the blight. We can likely safely assume this was Assan. TL;DR: Wardens conducted an experiment on Griffins that failed and doomed them to the blight. One Warden sacrificed themselves to save a clutch of eggs, and hid them away. The clutch was found, and one of the eggs later hatched, free of the blight. So thankfully they're not extinct.

I played all 3 DA games 2 years ago and I really liked them all. Looking at this trailer I feel this game could be really good. Inquisition was my favourite so it's not as much a stretch to this visually. I actually like the style. I think it will be much more satisfying to us who are waiting to see what happens next than to a new player. I'm not sure how someone would come into a 4th game totally blind and whether most people want to play 3 games from the last 15 years. I'll be playing for sure. It's just a shame to see so many negative reactions about this game
The dwarves cannot use magic because they were disconnected from the Titans. However, in Inquisition we started to see dwarves get their magic back when the Titans started to awaken. Also, Sandel (who was a dwarf who had magical talent) in Origins said that one day, the magic would return.
Have you playied the descent dlc? It has a lot of new dwarf lore related to dwarven "magic". Also griffons returned from extinction in the novel "the last flight".
I'm cautiously optimistic. I enjoyed the trailer a lot, and it was nice seeing some easter eggs or things mentioned in the books and comics make an appearance, but I'm trying not to be too excited. That being said, I do feel like there's a loud section of the fandom that complaining just to complain and they are seemingly the majority of comments and reactions I see online. Here's hoping the game turns out for the better
I kind of wish the dev's had talked less and they never released that original trailer. I was kind of put off by what I was seeing and hearing about this game until this reveal. I'll still wait and see and the combat doesn't seem that great but if the story is good...
@Hunter-zf7rt While I never really cared for the tactics side and controlling teammates, I get why it appealed to some players, and I do think that the very least they should have kept the tactics side in. As for the character designs? I don't mind them since Dragon Age hasn't had a consistent design or aesthetic since it's inception. I do disagree with the comparisons to fortnite and would say it's closer to Arcane, which isn't bad in my opinion. As for the enemies, some do look a bit wonky but I'll wait for more reveals before I make a final judgement, though it is a shame that the darkspawn aren't as fearsome looking like in origins
I am extremely skeptical of this. I 100% played through inquisition including the dlc and absolutely loved the world and story created. I hope they manage to stick the landing with this one story wise. Im not as concerned with the game play compared to the storytelling and feeling of making choices matter
It’s definitely a return to form for the franchise. I’m sure Varric will sum up the events quickly before the game takes off since he’s introducing a new protagonist, in case anyone is new to the franchise.

Scout Harding getting Titan powers is very interesting to me and with Neve seems to know a lot of about travelling to different parts of the world I have this feeling I will keep those two with me for most of my journey. They are also the two that I interest on romancing so there's also that. Trailer looked very good and the fact that Morrigan is back pulled me back in. I'm too much of a lore nerd of Dragon Age to not play this game and I really liked the setup from Inquisition + Tresspasser to this one.
The trailer was just so juicy in terms of the lore implications! Morrigan wearing the crown of Mythal? Lace getting abilities similar to Sandal?? I was worried they would just focus on the Elven gods in this game, but they seem to be dealing with the massive iceberg that Trespasser and the Descent left head on, whilst also providing nods to the first two games. Will a titan actually wake up and animate? the set pieces just from the trailer look MASSIVE so maybe?? It also seems that the two dragons in the final shot are archdemons, maybe the two escaped Evanuris final form in the game - if so, does that mean a Grey Warden is gonna have to kill them?
I really hate the discourse that the game is bad because there will be a mode where you don't die. That kind of difficulty setting has never been a big deal for any other game and Dragon Age has never been defined by being a challenging game, so why are so many people mad about it?
One of my favourite games with fable 2 had it where you couldn’t die and that wasn’t even an optional setting and was literally a main gameplay mechanic and yet everyone loves that game so yeah I really don’t get why people are complaining about that when most people won’t even use it.
I have read comments from many people that have low expectations or think they game is going to flop, I myself am very skeptical about the game for various reasons, but not once did any of the comments I read, and neither did I, ever bring up the immortal-player mode as an issue. That's like the least of skeptics' worries based on what I've seen.
My main issue is that Inquisition and Veilguard do not feel dark, depressing hopeless. I wouldn't have any issue with Inquisition or its characters or even its story, I just thought it should have been dark and depressing. Dragon Age: Origins had so many grimdark moments where hope was fleeting, it reflected in people, your companions, your antagonists, etc. Play it if you haven't before. Overwhelming odds. Tragic backstories for your character and companions. Classism. Racism. Religious conflict. Religious persecution. Demon possession. Personal dilemma's. Sympathetic evil. No choice feels completely right. If you play your cards wrong - child killing. Dark rituals (one more explicit than the others) Betrayal. So much more. If you immerse yourself too much into the emotional aspects, you will cry. Going in blind, expect tears.
Dragons dogma 2 you have 4 abilities not 3. You can also change your vocation (class) at any time, and are in fact encouraged to do so to have access to all arguments. You want to do so because the arguments can be used with any vocation. DA has never allowed that. Once you pick your class you are stuck with it the entire game. Dragons dogma is big on climbing and stunning giant enemies, pulling on their legs to knock them over. Picking up and throwing enemies at other enemies etc. etc. They really want you to think outside the box on how you approach certain encounters. We haven’t seen any high level DA combat yet but from what we have seen it doesn’t remind me of DD AT ALL. Just because they are both action RPGs now doesn’t mean that their combat is similar. DDs combat is unique in the genre and DAs combat seems pretty generic to the genre. You can’t compare DA to DD2 as they belong to the same genre but are TOTALLY different. DD has never been about lore and the story lol. It stunk in dark arisen and it stunk in DD2. That being said it has some of the best combat in the action RPG genera. (Also we haven’t gotten any of the DLC yet so we can’t compare it to dark arisen yet) But yeah. DA and DD are not very good games to compare. Just the lore alone the games are polar opposites. One is lord heavy while the others is very superficial.
Really don´t know what to think of Veilguard, there parts that are very promising and intresting but than there things that look so aweful. Like the Dark Spawn, after the first game they changed there looks every time and it becomes more and more bad. Now they look like something out from a cartoon instead of a organic corruption that creates a twisted mockery of Humans, dwarves, etc. they looked so dangerous and disgusting in the frist game.
im gonna be honest man, did you watch the trailer? I think this is the closest we've gotten to "organic corruption" from all the games. In my opinion in origins and 2, they looked *too* human, and in inquisiton they looked alright. If you look at veilguard, i suppose they look *cleaner* than the other games, but they look waayyy more like how one would imagine a darkspawn. They are pale, you can see the blight literally running through the bulging veins beneath the skin, you can see the actual corruption taking over their body instead of just the more primal ones we get in the other games. Also in part, this darkspawn design is absolutely influenced by whatever the evanuris and the double blight is doing, as if you look at the two dragons shown side by side in the trailer, (who im gonna assume is razikale and lusacan, the last two remaining archdemons but im probably wrong), you can see theyve got tendrils and sickness practically radiating like magic off them, which there wasnt much going on there than origins where we saw the most darkspawn.
@@nyrad5744 I did watch the trailer, a couple of times evens. Yet the dark spawns that we see attacking Lace and ( I think) the player character or the ogre, the were not impressiv or threatening looking, atleast not for me. But the dragons looked really good, I saw the tendrils hanging from them and was like yeahh thats much better, or the short climpse on the elven gods that Solus called also blighted, again really good. This what I mean, it looks like a mix of good stuff and bland stuff. I am not convinced to buy it yet, especially after the frist trailer but this one had promising stuff, that I will look forward to what else they might show us before release.
After BG3 my standards have been greatly raised as far as AAA-RPGs are concerned and based on what I've seen/heard of The Veilguard, I am not impressed. I like the new trailer a lot, it's a hundred times better than the cringe Marvel-like companion reveal trailer. But from what I've heard regarding the gameplay the party size have been decreased to three (including you), the number of your active spells have been decreased to 3 (unless you're a mage class I think) and they took away your full control over the companions in combat and seemingly turned the previously tactical combat into ARPG-like hack 'n slash. I also heard there will be no inventory but I don't know if that's true. This sounds about as dumbed down of a game of the franchise as it can get. What am I, who hasn't played a Dragon Age game before but does love deep RPGs, supposed to get excited about here? What is the selling point of The Veilguard?
Presentation-wise, nothing can really come close to BG3, so that's really unfair for most RPGs moving forward. Depth? Aside from incredible reactivity, the cracks in BG3 become real obvious if you play it vanilla a few times. Even Wrath of the Righteous had more compelling romantic situations than BG3 ever did for example. But since you haven't played a Dragon Age game before, I highly recommend playing Origins if you don't want to play this one. It will certainly be way cheaper.
Isn’t the exciting thing about RPG is the role playing aspect? Feeling like you are your character and you are making the decisions that matter? Which is all still happening in this game. If the story hasn’t gripped you from the trailers, then the game maybe you just don’t get excited for it.🤷🏻♀️ I’ve seen lots of people who have never played a dragon age game watch the trailers and be really interested in playing. Not every game is gonna excite everyone. It’s ok if you aren’t. But not being able to control your companions, only having 2 companions, and having limited “powers/moves” isn’t a knock against RPGs, as Mass Effect has all 3 of those things and is one of the best set of Games I’ve ever played.

Bioware brought us (ironically) the original Baldur's Gate games, Mass Effect trilogy and of course Dragon Age: Origins, all beloved classic games. And they're part of a billion dollar publisher EA. There is no excuse for Bioware not to do better and make an as good RPG as BG3. Especially since they've been working on DA4 for near a decade by now. But considering that most original talent responsible for their past great games have moved on from the company it may not happen again, unless The Veilguard is going to surprise us all positively.
@@Simppu1410 The last *real* cool thing that Bioware ever did was the crossover content between DA:O and ME2. After that, you get ME3, Inquisition, Andromeda, and Anthem. Bioware hasn't really given anyone any reason for people to believe in them for a long time.
i will keep a healthy dose of scepticism until some reviews from non gaming journos come out. bioware has more than once disappointed in recent memory.
So far the only thing I'm not going to like, (which is just how bioware is now) is the Mass effect Andromeda/Inquisition dialogue. Like they are never going to go back to origins or mass effect dialogue and choices.
I just don’t want Dragon Age to end up like Mass Effect. They killed it with Andromeda and then blamed the fans. I’m extremely concerned because a trailer should be where you bring your beat to sell the game but I feel nothing in either of them.
Then I don’t. I can rewatch the Origins trailers all day, the Inquisition trailers are fun to watch, and hell even the Dragon Age 2 trailers are still badass even if they don’t reflect the actual gameplay. These trailers scream “look how we have changed!” rather than “look how much we have improved!” I’m a huge elf guy and they made elven ears into floppy warcraft-styled ears, I’m a huge elven lore fan but for some reason I don’t think the return of the gods is exciting at all given how we are seemingly having Solas take a backseat for the “Vielgaurd”. There’s too much I either don’t care about or am still very concerned over and the result is I’m very cautious right now.
Ever consider that it's because you are now much older than the last time you were exposed to anything Dragon Age and your own tastes have grown and changed since then? It's a very valid thing to feel, but asking a game to make you feel the same way you did a decade ago when Inquisition came out is pretty hard.
It feels like damage control to me. The thing that most fans conplainted about was the lack of the clasic dark anbience the games had, the "the world is going to end" vives. this trailer tries to delivere that, but well, way to late

I think that what they pomised us with the Dread Wolf and the elfs leaving was more interesting that what they are showing now. My Solas was more complex than some openly bad ancient gods. Now it seems they will try to redeem him, maybe he will sacrifice himself trying to fight the gods. Thats is incredibly booring. Flemeth did't die for this shit.

This trailer made my expectations from- This game is going to be horrible. A crime against humanity. To- This games is going to be DA Inquisition. Wich I don't like but a least its a good game. Inquisition might be the game I least like in the series but I can see it is a good game. But this series stoped being Dragon Age since 2 for me.

I mean… I don’t mind not ALWAYS keeping things grimmdark, so I look forward to this ‘marvellous’ game. But the current state of gaming tells me it’s going to be a hard 6-7 out of 10.
My biggest issue is it dosen't have the style of a Dragon Age game but looks like a generic mobile game. The dragons in DA3 looked much better than the dragon in the trailer. It just seems dull to me. Hopefully, the visuals improve before the realize. It's still a much better trailer than the first one though.
And considering how dumbed down the game is; max party size downgraded to three (including the player), no full control over your companions during combat and only 3 active spells/abilities per character (unless you're a mage I believe when you can have more spells in your arsenal), it may as well be a mobile game by the sounds of it.

@HellEarthHeaven we also have the whole thing with titans in the descent dlc...and tbh i never played that dlc as it didn't interest me at the time. Point is between sandal and titans, and who knows what tomfuckery could happen with the fade now that some gods have escaped, Dwarven magic isn't the biggest surprise out there.
Enchanting is the only type of magic dwarfs can do because it’s involves crafting magical runes and using magical items to cast spells instead of using your own abilities, actual proper magic is basically impossible for dwarfs so this is very interesting and could link to what happened in the decent dlc for dragon age inquisition.
Disregarding the gameplay changes it looks like a trailer for a mobile game. People's skins looks ile they're made out of silicone. Art style looks uninteresting. I'd give it 4/10
I am a huge fan of the original. Just don't see myself buying this any time soon. Maybe when it is on sale for 10 dollars in 2 and a half years. Shame that such a fascinating world has lead to so many mediocre games.
Say what you will, but this already had the hallmarks of a failure, the bioware of old is gone along with their magic and I cannot support the new heads that seem to be at war with their own audience, I simply can't support people that don't like me or care about my insight as a fan.
I'm not sure how BioWare are 'at war' with their audience. They said we were going to Tevinter and here we are. This game appears to have story and characters at its core. Classic Dragon Age.

The issue I have is the dumbing down of mechanics, the style of some characters and enemies design.

We haven’t seen any high level DA combat yet but from what we have seen it doesn’t remind me of DD AT ALL. Just because they are both action RPGs now doesn’t mean that their combat is similar. DDs combat is unique in the genre and DAs combat seems pretty generic to the genre.
You can’t compare DA to DD2 as they belong to the same genre but are TOTALLY different. DD has never been about lore and the story lol. It stunk in dark arisen and it stunk in DD2. That being said it has some of the best combat in the action RPG genera. (Also we haven’t gotten any of the DLC yet so we can’t compare it to dark arisen yet)
But yeah. DA and DD are not very good games to compare. Just the lore alone the games are polar opposites. One is lord heavy while the others is very superficial.

Really don´t know what to think of Veilguard, there parts that are very promising and intresting but than there things that look so aweful. Like the Dark Spawn, after the first game they changed there looks every time and it becomes more and more bad. Now they look like something out from a cartoon instead of a organic corruption that creates a twisted mockery of Humans, dwarves, etc. they looked so dangerous and disgusting in the frist game.

im gonna be honest man, did you watch the trailer? I think this is the closest we've gotten to "organic corruption" from all the games. In my opinion in origins and 2, they looked *too* human, and in inquisiton they looked alright. If you look at veilguard, i suppose they look *cleaner* than the other games, but they look waayyy more like how one would imagine a darkspawn. They are pale, you can see the blight literally running through the bulging veins beneath the skin, you can see the actual corruption taking over their body instead of just the more primal ones we get in the other games. Also in part, this darkspawn design is absolutely influenced by whatever the evanuris and the double blight is doing, as if you look at the two dragons shown side by side in the trailer, (who im gonna assume is razikale and lusacan, the last two remaining archdemons but im probably wrong), you can see theyve got tendrils and sickness practically radiating like magic off them, which there wasnt much going on there than origins where we saw the most darkspawn.
@@nyrad5744 I did watch the trailer, a couple of times evens. Yet the dark spawns that we see attacking Lace and ( I think) the player character or the ogre, the were not impressiv or threatening looking, atleast not for me. But the dragons looked really good, I saw the tendrils hanging from them and was like yeahh thats much better, or the short climpse on the elven gods that Solus called also blighted, again really good. This what I mean, it looks like a mix of good stuff and bland stuff. I am not convinced to buy it yet, especially after the frist trailer but this one had promising stuff, that I will look forward to what else they might show us before release.
After BG3 my standards have been greatly raised as far as AAA-RPGs are concerned and based on what I've seen/heard of The Veilguard, I am not impressed. I like the new trailer a lot, it's a hundred times better than the cringe Marvel-like companion reveal trailer. But from what I've heard regarding the gameplay the party size have been decreased to three (including you), the number of your active spells have been decreased to 3 (unless you're a mage class I think) and they took away your full control over the companions in combat and seemingly turned the previously tactical combat into ARPG-like hack 'n slash. I also heard there will be no inventory but I don't know if that's true. This sounds about as dumbed down of a game of the franchise as it can get. What am I, who hasn't played a Dragon Age game before but does love deep RPGs, supposed to get excited about here? What is the selling point of The Veilguard?
Presentation-wise, nothing can really come close to BG3, so that's really unfair for most RPGs moving forward. Depth? Aside from incredible reactivity, the cracks in BG3 become real obvious if you play it vanilla a few times. Even Wrath of the Righteous had more compelling romantic situations than BG3 ever did for example.
But since you haven't played a Dragon Age game before, I highly recommend playing Origins if you don't want to play this one. It will certainly be way cheaper.
Isn’t the exciting thing about RPG is the role playing aspect? Feeling like you are your character and you are making the decisions that matter? Which is all still happening in this game.
If the story hasn’t gripped you from the trailers, then the game maybe you just don’t get excited for it.🤷🏻♀️ I’ve seen lots of people who have never played a dragon age game watch the trailers and be really interested in playing. Not every game is gonna excite everyone. It’s ok if you aren’t.
But not being able to control your companions, only having 2 companions, and having limited “powers/moves” isn’t a knock against RPGs, as Mass Effect has all 3 of those things and is one of the best set of Games I’ve ever played.

Bioware brought us (ironically) the original Baldur's Gate games, Mass Effect trilogy and of course Dragon Age: Origins, all beloved classic games. And they're part of a billion dollar publisher EA. There is no excuse for Bioware not to do better and make an as good RPG as BG3. Especially since they've been working on DA4 for near a decade by now. But considering that most original talent responsible for their past great games have moved on from the company it may not happen again, unless The Veilguard is going to surprise us all positively.
@@Simppu1410 The last *real* cool thing that Bioware ever did was the crossover content between DA:O and ME2. After that, you get ME3, Inquisition, Andromeda, and Anthem.
Bioware hasn't really given anyone any reason for people to believe in them for a long time.
i will keep a healthy dose of scepticism until some reviews from non gaming journos come out. bioware has more than once disappointed in recent memory.
So far the only thing I'm not going to like, (which is just how bioware is now) is the Mass effect Andromeda/Inquisition dialogue.
Like they are never going to go back to origins or mass effect dialogue and choices.
The dialogue mechanic appears closest to Dragon Age 2.
I just don’t want Dragon Age to end up like Mass Effect. They killed it with Andromeda and then blamed the fans. I’m extremely concerned because a trailer should be where you bring your beat to sell the game but I feel nothing in either of them.

Then I don’t. I can rewatch the Origins trailers all day, the Inquisition trailers are fun to watch, and hell even the Dragon Age 2 trailers are still badass even if they don’t reflect the actual gameplay.
These trailers scream “look how we have changed!” rather than “look how much we have improved!” I’m a huge elf guy and they made elven ears into floppy warcraft-styled ears, I’m a huge elven lore fan but for some reason I don’t think the return of the gods is exciting at all given how we are seemingly having Solas take a backseat for the “Vielgaurd”.
There’s too much I either don’t care about or am still very concerned over and the result is I’m very cautious right now.

Ever consider that it's because you are now much older than the last time you were exposed to anything Dragon Age and your own tastes have grown and changed since then? It's a very valid thing to feel, but asking a game to make you feel the same way you did a decade ago when Inquisition came out is pretty hard.
This already looks way better than anything Andromeda showed us before it came out.
It feels like damage control to me. The thing that most fans conplainted about was the lack of the clasic dark anbience the games had, the "the world is going to end" vives. this trailer tries to delivere that, but well, way to late

I only saw that first horrible overwatch style trailer and was… disappointed to say the least. But seeing Harding use magic actually gave me chills.
I think that what they pomised us with the Dread Wolf and the elfs leaving was more interesting that what they are showing now. My Solas was more complex than some openly bad ancient gods. Now it seems they will try to redeem him, maybe he will sacrifice himself trying to fight the gods. Thats is incredibly booring. Flemeth did't die for this shit.

This trailer made my expectations from- This game is going to be horrible. A crime against humanity.
To- This games is going to be DA Inquisition. Wich I don't like but a least its a good game. Inquisition might be the game I least like in the series but I can see it is a good game. But this series stoped being Dragon Age since 2 for me.

My biggest issue is it dosen't have the style of a Dragon Age game but looks like a generic mobile game. The dragons in DA3 looked much better than the dragon in the trailer. It just seems dull to me. Hopefully, the visuals improve before the realize. It's still a much better trailer than the first one though.
And considering how dumbed down the game is; max party size downgraded to three (including the player), no full control over your companions during combat and only 3 active spells/abilities per character (unless you're a mage I believe when you can have more spells in your arsenal), it may as well be a mobile game by the sounds of it.

Point is between sandal and titans, and who knows what tomfuckery could happen with the fade now that some gods have escaped, Dwarven magic isn't the biggest surprise out there.
Enchanting is the only type of magic dwarfs can do because it’s involves crafting magical runes and using magical items to cast spells instead of using your own abilities, actual proper magic is basically impossible for dwarfs so this is very interesting and could link to what happened in the decent dlc for dragon age inquisition.
The pinnacle of what we've seen with Dwarven enchantment involves sacrificing a Dwarf in mind, body and soul to inhabit a golem shell.
Disregarding the gameplay changes it looks like a trailer for a mobile game. People's skins looks ile they're made out of silicone. Art style looks uninteresting. I'd give it 4/10

I am a huge fan of the original. Just don't see myself buying this any time soon. Maybe when it is on sale for 10 dollars in 2 and a half years. Shame that such a fascinating world has lead to so many mediocre games.

Say what you will, but this already had the hallmarks of a failure, the bioware of old is gone along with their magic and I cannot support the new heads that seem to be at war with their own audience, I simply can't support people that don't like me or care about my insight as a fan.

I'm not sure how BioWare are 'at war' with their audience. They said we were going to Tevinter and here we are. This game appears to have story and characters at its core. Classic Dragon Age.
