I will agree. Sony Xperia phones, at least the most models from 2011 to 2019, have messy architecture on the inside. I don't even know why Sony did not try to copy how Apple pulled off the architecture of their iPhone SE (1st gen). That thing is so small and powerful and yet looks so damn clean on the inside.
But if you're using the Z1 compact, stay with it. It's way easier to replace the battery of that beast.
