Villevirtu is a stupid place. They should do what the Amish (And the Amish are thriving right now) do: let their young ones OUT for a few years, one time. Let them see. Let them CHOOSE between the worlds. This woman had a choice, a choice she denies her daughter. In the end, this structure will fall or change drastically from within: it only takes a few influential defectors after all. I understand the appeal of such places, and the critique on the (rather extreme by some modern parents) lack of discipline or guidance, esp of children and teens hits home, but honestly history does seem to suggest that SELLING such places rather than trying to make them cults or prisons (or both) has a better outcome in the long run.
