    I always think this is cool. Even if a few of them couldn't make much sound. When I was 14 all I wanted to do was march in DCI. At 17 I got my wish. Best time I ever spent in life. Well... with exception of some really nice fly fishing.... hehe

      i'm 17 and i want to march in a drum corps but i can't play a brass instrument. i was thinking i could learn baritone and audition for legends

    • @fireantsarestrange
      @fireantsarestrange 8 років тому +2

      Geatle Sure you can. Don't be intimidated by playing a different instrument. Even Trombone would be fine. Never have self doubt or pity. Just go do what you want.. life doesn't just sit still. before you know it you will be to old to compete with the age limit at 21. Borrow an instrument. In drum corp you do not have to buy your horn or other instruments.

      Geatle i would also like to offer you this comment. Music is universal. If you play harmonica... you can play piano. If you play clarinet.. you can play tuba. Anything is possible.

      I forgot to tell you something. DCI takes tremendous effort on your part. I was in Sacramento Freelancers for 3 years and was in 2 championship finals. That was my life and i lived it. Takes much dedication and conviction both to the organization and yourself and your corp mates. If you for some reason have an issue with that from the start then you don't have what it takes... but it is A lot of fun and you get to see the USA in one summer.

      Jay Sims 1st of all, that was a typo, i meant 16. i have a way to learn baritone in like 2 and half weeks when school starts so i'll be sure to take that and marching band seriously this year. my friend (who already plays baritone) and i want to audition together.
      another thing, i have access to a marching baritone but not a marching euphonium. i'd rather march the euphonium but i could only audition on baritone. even if they had a euphonium i could use at the audition camp, i've heard that marching euphoniums are allot heavier than marching baritones, so i wouldn't be use to the weight.

      This is less about super perfecting marching and stuff and more about learning . Not perfect or even pretty sometimes they are just there for a fun band experience and to get some music experience

    The high brass tech from my 2022 season was gonna be apart of this performance, but didn't last minute. I wanna do this now, I hope I get the opportunity with my band.

      Alan Burns I actually was the guy who had a GoPro and a Contra. This is my first year marching tuba (I made a jump from Front Ensemble) and it's going well for me.

      Alan Burns your asking that yet you realize these kids were learning a DRUM CORPS SHOW. It doesn't matter how much they learned or how well they marched. I'm in tarpon springs marching band and I'd have a grand time trying to learn even a whole page of drill for this show

      The Florida Railfan Productions In these particular pages for the kids not in Crown, they are mostly straight back or straight slides.

    as a 4 year marching band kid this video makes me happy for them but at the same time so disappointed. they had a week to learn 2 minutes of drill and many of them couldn't even keep their feet in time and many didn't know when to stop. my heart goes out to the crown members.

      DCI is such a big step up from HS or even college marching band. The amount of effort and dedication it takes to be in a DC is unbelievable

    • @TheManyNations
      @TheManyNations 7 років тому +5

      These are marching band kids from all walks and ages, and who had to learn, yes, only a short piece of the show, but in a very short amount of time. Of course there'll be issues here and there.

    • @diegochavezisntmanam
      @diegochavezisntmanam 7 років тому

      Ouity not really all walks. It's marching band kids who can afford to pay $500 for this and then still pay for their marching band season.
      I'd say you're right if the mistakes were at the end, and that maybe they didn't really get to cleaning that.
      But no the issues were all throughout and the most noticeable were in the beginning. Issues with not knowing when to start and stop a move and then being on the wrong foot.

    • @TheManyNations
      @TheManyNations 7 років тому +3

      Of course. Look, friend, it's not much to brag about, but I tech for a marching band among other things. This sort of stuff just happens when a performer isn't familiar enough with the material-- no point bashing them about it on a youtube comment section.
      Top that off with the fact that a lot of high schoolers take a lot of time to figure drill out. Unlike music, there's no way for somebody to practice drill in their off time, so there's the naturally talented ones and the less talented ones. Again, nothing you can do about it.
      It was a cool experience for them, and they got better-- they probably had 5~ hours for that two minutes. Relax.

      No need to feel bad for the members in Crown. I think what matters most is that those kids had a good experience :)
