I did what you suggested, but after the toner level went below 30% for two colors. As you have said the counters didn't go to nill. Do you think they will reset when I buy and install two original toners? Your second video including programmer is not for me. Now I'm a bit worried about whether the printer will recognize the new toners.
@99spinz 2. If you press the "orange triangle in a circle" button the green led will blink, keep it pressed and it will start to blink faster. Now release the button and voila; a Configuration Report. (if you don't press it long enough (the green led is still blinking slow) you'll get a regular demo page for this printer)
If you still need the drum reset, you can go to Amazon and search for "samsung drum reset chip". No soldering required. Just peel and stick the chip and that is all to reset your drum counter. If you are familiar with soldering, you may buy a drum reset fuse. They are all available from Amazon and eBay.com, eBay.co.uk, amazon.com, amazon.ca, amazon,fr, amazon,es, amazon.de, amazon,it, amazon.co.uk.
I started with the first set of toners (without the chip) "Yellow 63%, Magenta 63%, Cyan 63%, Black 11%". I know the black is very well below 30% but I decided to try it anyway. I turned on the printer, report gives 463 pages printed, I print some pages and print another report, 465 pages. I turn off the printer and turn it back on: report says 463 (mono) pages printed. My guess is that any job that would require more than 11% black can not be printed anymore in one session without reboot.
@99spinz 1. As far as I can tell this hack disables writing to the chip but the chip will still be able to count. This means that if you have 1% left in the toner which is enough for let's say 30 pages the printer will stop working after printing 30 pages because it thinks it's out of toner. You can turn powercycle the printer and it will think again you will have 1% toner left and your facing the same issue after 30 pages. 30% is a safety limit because most print jobs can be done within 30%
@acer6530 cause this firmware most probably freezes that number and it would be non-sense to save it at a number where you are allways warned etc. So just make the printer think, it's full instead of almost empty.
Yellow Status Ready Remain Toner (64%) Magenta Status Ready Remain Toner (76%) Cyan Status Ready Remain Toner (76%) Black Status Ready Remain Toner (43%) what would happen if i do this with my current Supplies Status
Firmware fix DOES NOT RESET EVERYTHING, only the toner values. Instead do a hardware fix which is a bit more difficult but ABSOLUTELY FREE. It's explained here: watch?v=077GLsEMV2E
