Perhaps the most soothing woodworking video ever made! Don't know and don't care if this is the "strongest" homemade clamp. It certainly is strong enough and it's beautiful.

The clamp reminds me of reinforced concrete. Since concrete doesn't perform well in tension, we put steel (re-bars, that is) on the tensile side of the section, and let the concrete (or in your case, wood) do its thing on the compression side of the section.

Thank you, Mr. Heisz. This "wooden clamp" video has reached such great production values that I think woodworking on the web has reached a new level. I especially appreciated the incredibly pleasant music without a loud, aggravating, thumping/thundering bass pounding and the wonderful lack of inane chatter. Also, your clamp is very nice. Let's see if Mattias can do better now! You're both Canadian National Treasures.

The sound track was phenomenal. Just the track was amazing in itself, I've never felt this way and had such an emotional experience watching table saw cuts, but the sound of the saw overlaid on top of the soundtrack added grit and intensity to the piece, like canons on the 4th of July! I was nearly in tears with the emotion of it all. And then the music climaxed as the project was completing and... Okay, in all seriousness, I really did like the video and the amount of time you spent making it really showed. Nice work. (And the clamp was cool, too.) Enjoying the rivalry--glad you guys are doing it. In all practicality both clamps are great and fine for any of our needs doing woodwork. Thanks, John, best.
