There is a difference between PHYSICAL birth and SPIRITUAL birth. Physical birth was the will and decision of others, but spiritual birth is your choice. There was a Jewish man named Nicodemus who didn’t understand spiritual birth. Like so many people today, people are confused and curious about Jesus. The conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus in John 3 helps us to understand what it means to be “born again.” Have you been born again?

I’ve been to many Protestant churches over the years, but I can honestly say that Pastor Gary is the one and only true teacher I’ve ever had. I’m so excited about all I’m learning that I have spent the past two weeks listening to his teaching all day long. Thank God for the way he explains the books verse by verse. Hallelujah
Pastor Gary is an excellent teacher and I listen and learn from him as much as possible. I learned from another teacher that the Catholic Church doesn't believe in spiritual baptism or born again....they only believe in water baptism....I was Catholic for many, many years...so, I am so happy and now saved due to true teachers like Gary. The Catholic Church does believe in Spiritual Baptism,but ti believes in water Baptism as well because when a child is physically born they could become ill anad die of the illness so the water Baptism is a preparation for such.

It is wonderful that the Lord had saved you from the deception of the Catholic church! Only, we should be careful not to honor any human instead of Jesus Christ Himself. Pardon me for seeming insensitive, just hear my joy at you being saved!
For years I was stuck in the cycle of lust and lying, but now I am delivered from it because of how much God loves me! Spedinging time with it not only helped me with that but makes me understand what true love and joy really is!! Im never looking back!!

I LOVE the scene in The Chosen, season 1, episode 7, the meeting at night with Jesus and Nicodemus. The Holy Spirit was so present.
I am actually amazed of how both this preaching and the Chosen really immersed me into John 3. Pastor Gary captured everything that was shown in The Chosen and I think that's really amazing.

Thank you for clarifying spiritual birth! I was baptized by water as a child. I was far too young to make the decision. I was very worries that I wouldn't be able to get to Heaven if I wasn't re- baptized. Now I know I'll be there.

Heres a little follow up on nicodemus....he,along with his family did come to faith in jesus...he was driven out of the position he held and was driven from the Jewish community as well, and died a believer in Christ... I heard ,on a historian (anciant isreal) site ,(cant recall now), that writings had been recently unearthed by archeologists, as to this fact. Nick and his family are in heaven, you can bank on it!

Just as physical birth is the end result of a process, so is spiritual rebirth. First, comes faith thats source is our recieving the " seed" of the Word of God into the receptive soil of our hearts.
Then there is repentance, which is to choose to turn from disobedience, to God, to obedience.
Repentance must be demonstrated by water baptism. It is during water baptism that the" temple" of our bodies are cleansed by the blood of Christ as we pass through the water.
This is being born of water. How birth comes about during water baptism is by the Holy Spirit circumcising our conscience, removing the guilt from past sins ,and restoring it to its original childlike freedom from the consequences of wilful sin.
This is the " washing of regeneration" of Titus 3:5. The word " regeneration" defined means to return something to its original state. The original state of our conscience is like an innocent childs'.
This is the new covenants antitype of the old covenants' type of cleansing the temple with water and blood in preparation for the Spirit of God to inhabit it.
Under the old covenants type though, the writer of Hebrews noted that the blood of bulls was ineffective in dealing with the "consiousness of sins", which is guilt.
The blood of bulls couldn't ,but the blood of Christ does by removing the guilt.
Now the Spirit of Gid can not only enter the temple of our body but remain there in a permanent basis. Under the old covenant the cleansing ceremony had to be repeated every year so the Spirit of God could temporarily inhabit the temple.
The Holy Spirit can now enter the believers body permanently. The Spirit is then recieved by the believer. The word " recieve", in the original Greek, means " to take hold of".
We pray fervently until the Lord answers our prayer, fills us and joins with our spirit. This is as the result of the Holy Spirit baptism.
The believer must yield their tongue to the Spirit so that He can scripturally confirm that this union has occured by enabling then to speak in the spiritual language that we call " tongues". It is the only sign given in scripture that a believers has recieved the Holy Spirit when they recieved, ( Acts ch.2,10,and ch.19).
Just as in the natural all present know that a baby has been born is that they cry. In the spiritual they speak in " tongues".

St. Irenaeus and St. Augustine.
St. Irenaeus is a second century Church Father who describes the nature and necessity of Baptism by water in his famous First Apology (written about 155 AD). In this document he has the following to say about Baptism by water:
Those who are persuaded and believe that the things we teach and say are true, and promise that they can live accordingly, are instructed to pray and beseech God with fasting for the remission of their past sins, while we pray and fast along with them. Then they are brought by us where there is water, and are reborn by the same manner of rebirth by which we ourselves were reborn; for they are then washed in the water in the name of God the Father and Master of all, and of our Saviour Jesus Christ, and of the Holy Spirit. For Christ said, "Unless you are born again you will not enter into the Kingdom of heaven." Now it is clear to all that those who have once come into being cannot enter the wombs of those who bore them. But as I quoted before, it was said through the prophet Isaiah how those who have sinned and repent shall escape from their sins. He said this: "Wash yourselves, be clean, take away wickednesses from your souls, learn to do good, give judgement for the orphan and defend the cause of the widow, and come and let us reason together, says the Lord. And though your sins be as scarlet, I will make them as white as wool, and though they be as crimson, I will make them as white as snow. If you will not listen to me, the sword will devour you; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken these things" (#61; Richardson, 282).

if you will look at the Greek from where this was taken its not born again it's born from above no one who was not born from above into the flesh can enter Heaven. if you don't understand sorry - there were many that left their place of habitation and refused to be born of woman but please wake up

I'm sorry but you're wrong about the Mormons, the Mormons believe that Christ is the son of God and that he was our savior and died on the cross for our sins; Jesus Christ was not just a teacher!
They don't believe in His deity. They believe he was a created being. So they believe in another Jesus.
Once again another pastor who is confused by heaven (the place) and the kingdom of heaven (a position of rule in the Millennium). The subject matter here is the kingdom, not salvation by grace, and the steps necessary to enter the kingdom. Verse three speaks how to be able to only SEE the kingdom by spirit rebirth/justification/gift/called. Verse five speaks of ENTERING the kingdom via baptism (the first step in sanctification, not the last step in justification) and spirit rebirth. One has to exist to experience God so being born human is a given and born of water is not human birth, verse three refutes this. Even Jesus was baptized. One inherits by sanctification per Acts 20.32/26.18.
