Head lamps, space heaters, jet boilers, tents, sleeping bags, jugs of clean water... this is so far from what the old-time trappers, hunters, and frontiersmen used to have, yet still a more difficult and badass challenge than most people will ever push themselves through. Nice job

Quit acting like the old-school trappers wouldn’t have used the same equipment if it was available

Darn right. "The wolves have been here a long time. Pretty sure there will be elk here somewhere." For anyone who doubts they need to read Undaunted Courage by Stephen Ambrose, the most highly acclaimed version of the trek across north America by Lewis and Clark. They recorded lots of wildlife on their journey like elk and wolves.

Mountain Man didn't have a Swarovski spotting scope,a Stihl chainsaw or the modern clothing! It would be fun to do a hunt with every part of it as they would have done!

I don’t think mountain man would have expended so much energy as well. Surely those men figured out more efficient methods to save their calories.

Cool video but dang the commercials… pro tip=you stay warm on winter hunts by staying moving. Glassing is good but man just moving through the trees following g tracks is a great way to find cows and spikes. Finding a bull this time of year is rough

Ok tip. Zippo hand warmers. Boot electric warmers, electric gloves. Never rely on this. It's a save the next 5 hrs warmth. Ice fishing tip.

Some states don’t require it….especially those states where the hunters can tell the difference between game and humans.

Where are your down puffy pants and coat?! In those conditions you NEED serious puffy gear to sit and glass for any length of time as you found out. Stuff with 5+ oz of down fill minimum. Skip all the hunting brands and check out feathered friends, western mountaineering or nunatak. Best bang for the oz. Hunting brands seldom have near enough fill. Of course i almost never wear it while moving, thats not what its for.

Nate's got em on underneath the hardshell jacket! Here he's using some stuff from Browning that's really good. Those companies are sweet too, though. We really like Feathered Friends.
      Thanks for the comment!

I can’t understand why you left elk that you spotted just to go somewhere that you wanted to find more.. but hey it’s your hunt

Holy drama queen. I've hunted with kids that didn't cry about the conditions as much as you. And UA-cam has enough of their own adds i don't need to see all your sponsored by junk.
